Fakebook Pro - the RealBook and Sheet Music Reader for Android
This has so many tunes. You can transpose them into any key, the chords are pretty good, and you can set it to override the power saying setting. This app is worth the cost!
No longer imports IReal format. It will import Pdf format but as reported over 14 months ago it loses bar lines and changes the layout so some lines have one bar while some have a gap before bars start while other bars get squashed overlapping fonts making that bar unreadable. I havent had any real success here but on the upside it did show me where to get fakebooks from. So kinda worth it. Better simply buy ireal and a decent pdf reader like moonresder
I use this a lot but recently it has acting up. When I import pdfs they come out as a half page with half the music missing. The pdfs look fine if i view in a pdf reader. Can't use this anymore until the problem is fixed.
Recently I picked up a VERY last minute gig. The artist primarily performs lots of pop covers of a wide variety of artists. I bought the app just before the gig started. On a break I fumbled through and found a song the leader suggested. Without this app it would have been a train wreck. Thanks to this app, I hit the changes on the spot. It paid for itself immediately. Now I'm taking time to get to know app. I love that you can tranpose. A ton of tunes for a buck. Awesome. It beats fumbling through or having to write out (hopefully correct changes) of a unknown tune on the fly. Plus a backlit screen can't hurt. In the sun; TBD.
For some reason whenever I attempt to import a pdf, the app doesn't see the pdf. Additionally, the songs present on the device seems to keep getting corrupted like adding random extra measures or deleting them. Additionally, I am unable to modify the view so some songs are impossible to follow because I either can't see all of it or it is too small. I can't see any value of this program unless it enables itself to read the names of the songs from the pdfs and makes it so searching for a song is a quick search. You are better off getting a pdf reader and importing a pdf collection of the Real Books and Fake Books. I can't believe I paid for this unfinished glorified pdf viewer.
Great app but tends to over-crop PDF documents cutting the tops and bottoms. Multi page imports also could use tweaking. Many times, 2 and so forth pages (PDF) will be different sizes and not fit on-screen (requires scolling). Should be consistent throughout all pages. Other than these points, a very good app!
1600 transposable songs will get you through most gigs. Fortunately they have most of the rest of the real books but they arent transposable. For modern stuff, check their web site. Give em credit, this app just keeps improving itself and isn't$15. Alot more transposable charts that aren't on the original download. Help desk on this one though is killer! They actually e mail back.
Worst interface ever, this app is really useless, tried to use it while playing guitar with friends, it was quite complicated to navigate or use, you can't even zoom out on the sheet, the pre setup songs create a mess in the book, it's complicated to add new songs to it or just even understand how to do so, sometimes you import a file and the app replaces some chords wrongly (let's say a F#m with only F) etc.. in a nutshell hated it, very amateurish :/
I absolutely will never be without tis app!....unless they come out with a new version.lol Much easier to travel with than a copy of the real book and a metronome.
Please how can I get a display by title not realbooj1bb (1) to (504).
Great app if you want to spend hours trying to download files that DO NOT WORK. Think I will just use Adobe reader and save myself the frustration and practice music by ear instead of wasting my time on an app that doesn't function as advertised.
Great app. Since getting a new phone, I've noticed a load of pop songs have been added. Great for Jam sessions
Awesome for jams!
I was very happy with the free version of this app, which allowed me to import PDFs into the database. I had added the original Real Book, which had chords AND MELODIES, as per the original publication. And I added several of my own charts for easy acces on gigs. And then, after paying for the "Pro" uograde, all of my PDFs which included melodies, even the ones I wrote, were gone. Everything was replaced by chord charts. This is unacceptable. Don't waste your time and money.
Great for jams of jazz standards -- easy to search the database. Great for gigs too, although I mostly memorize performance material. Could use better documentation, but after a while you'll figure it out. Highly recommended, and the price is right!
I got this app because I've joined a chorus and I want to be able to download the sheet music and make changes as needed. However, I find the app not terribly useful. There are 1600 chord charts, which are useless for me. I can't resize the sheet music that I took a picture of, which makes any annotation I would do virtually unreadable. I'm rather disappointed. UPDATE: (1/11/16) The company responded immediately to my complaints about the app, and issued a refund without question. They've kept me as a customer.
The app is very useful but mainly I have emailed several suggestions and had them added as features! Very handy. Stills needs a little refining but definitely useful and worth using.
Essential and to the point for finding Jazz and Pop songs. Use it since years an like the possibility to search for tunes' videos. It would be appreciated to update regularly the songs list, up to now never offered.
Fakebook works very well and is reasonably priced. I've done hundreds of gigs with it and it makes life lighter and easier. The ability to import pdfs and playlist them makes church gigs smoother.
Well, it's full of chord charts. But that's about it. Want it to play something? It kicks off youtube or Spotify. Want notes or lyrics? I haven't found any. So unless you want chords, forget it.
There's no way to contact the developers via the menu? So sorry have to ask in public. Reply below answered my questions but the app turns out not as useful for score reading as MobileSheetsFree, and ireal pro does far better at play along, so I have uninstalled. Sorry.
The ability to sort my own playlists makes my life complete. Love this app and couldn't do without it unless I carry around a few pounds of paper with chords.
I like this app but on newer android it keeps becoming the default pdf app and all pdf docs. I have Uninstaller and reinstalled. Problem persists.
I'm using it for the first time October 2016 and I absolutely love it and will support it and be a loyal guinea pig or should I say beta user!
The app's data is still not movable to SD card - please fix this.
I'm giving it 3 stars so you keep motivated on improving the app. But I am actually dissatisfied because the app is very unpractical. I did not find a way to restore edited tunes to its original form. And a lot of songs in the fakebook section have links that lead to non existing yt videos or Spotify pages. It's really frustrating when you want to listen to a tune. I want this app to get better but until then I'd like a refund because it is of no use for me in its actual state. Thanks for your support.
I use this in a pinch all the time. If the chords aren't the best fit , then use your own. But it works !
How do I hide the blue toolbar! Other than that I love this app. I have some of the print real books but this certainly comes in handy. Thanks!
There doesn't seem to be any help or tutorial available in the program, and when I e-mailed the app developer asking about that and some basic questions about how to load files into the program I received no response. I stumbled upon a way to get the program to load a fakebook I have in pdf. form, but the functionality with that fakebook was near useless. The songs only appeared in the app index as numbers, not with song titles, despite the song titles being in the usual place in the fakebook. And the program had no option to change keys in those songs. If you want the chords only (no melody or lyrics) for the 1600 songs included in the app, then you might find the app worth the $3 cost. On those songs, the app does allow you to change the keys. But to me, a vocalist, these sort of chord charts are of very little use.
Also great with own songs. Would be nice to be able to backup own collection as well as the choice of key.
Great app & tremendous value for money.
(editing my rating and comment- my initial comment was below, but the developer got in touch and worked with me to fix their app! I'm very impressed with them and their willingness to work with customers and respond to feedback. When the next version rolls out I'm sure I'll change this to 5 stars!) This app *almost* works. I got it so that I could import my iReal Pro library into it and use a page turn pedal for multi-page songs. It would be great except for two major issues that render it unusable: 1) random blank measures are inserted into my music that I import from iReal. This is *not* ok. and 2) The fonts are tiny, difficult to read and if you choose one of the few readable fonts, it garbles up the measures and inserts even more blank measures in there. I can't find a way to get in touch with the developers- I found their website but the contact page is broken. If these two issues were fixed and I were able to USE the app, I'd surely give it 5 stars. But as it is, I can't use it. So, if the developer is reading this, please find a way to get in touch, if possible (or fix your website), if there are some workarounds for the issues with your app!
Unable to test due to crash on startup
Awesome!
Love everything except the screen goes dark if not touched for a couple moments. Sucks when trying to read the chart on a live gig.
As a singer, it's nice to be able to offer a chart in my key to a pianist on the spot. I've also recommended it to other musicians.
I don't need all the extra features of the 'competitor'. Just the changes to the tunes. The ability to transpose is a bonus. App works great! *Where are the 'new tunes' in the latest update?
Works fine for provided leadsheets. But not seriously suitable for reading own (multipage) PDFs. It splits all pages into separate songs, instead of keep them together in a single entry. It doesn't scale DIN A4 pages to the proper screen height, so you need to scroll down. Unable to turn page by just tapping the screen.
There is no edit facility and so you are stuck with PDFs or importing charts from another music app. I produced charts with iReal Pro and imported them into Fakebook Pro via a browser. What had been a tidy four measures to the line was reduced to one line of four measures and the rest at three. I thought I had made an error, but I find that all the downloaded charts were a similar mess. That's a shame because the iReal Pro format lets you transpose keys. If you look at the included A Felicidade chart (which, I'm fairly sure are the same file in both apps) in iReal Pro it is mainly four to a line and in Fakebook Pro it is 4's, 3's and 1's and goes off the page as a result. Fakebook is, however, fine for playlists, searches, lists and selections. iReal Pro, cannot match Fakebook for calling up tunes, but it has the editing and playback features to make up for it. I'm hoping that the problems with Fakebook will soon be sorted as the feature has only recently been added.

I really want to love this app, but it insists on opening every single PDF and some image files I come across and I can't find a way to stop it. If I can disable that I would love to reinstall it but right now it's a no from me :( (Samsung Galaxy S5)
