GPS Navigation & Maps - Scout for Android
It automatically selected Philippines as my free maps download which is fine, I can now get reliable directions from Manila to Lucena at the touch of a button/screen. My only real problem with this is that I happen to live in the UK, so directions from Manila to Lucena are about as much use as a cricket bat in the delicates. I'd be more likely to pay for maps if I could see that they were accurate beforehand.
Its been spot on so far! Can use the online mode for exact location and once its in your favourites it can be found in off-line mode to save on data. Only once had an issue where it was running behind my actual location so missed turning BUT this has only happened once in the year ive been using it. Also find it better than my proper garmin. More than happy
Used app a few times without any issues. It does what it say it does but I've found that on occasions it cannot find the postcode when entered. Had to enter a neighbouring street to get directions to my destination. If you have Google maps on your smart phone I'd use that as it does what this app does and more without having to pay extra for traffic info or European maps.
Nice software, responsive and intuitive. Graphics can be made cleaner and easier to the eye. Still needs search improvents to be made. However asking for street, city or number is a bit limited. Not all addresses are defined by this format. If the developers embed free address search it would be great. I still have not seen an open maps software to be good at finding a hoise in a certain neighbourhood where there are no street names bit just house numbers. HERE maps does this perfectly.
This is the best free sat nav for android of 8 I have tried. Super fluid menu with Lollipop styleanimation, speed camera warnings, offline mode, favourite places, detailed maps. Just turned my phone into fullblown sat nav for free! LG G2 (D802)
Works well. Searching can be a little tricky unless you know roughly where to go to start with. Just done my first trial. It took me to the supermarket and back by different (selected) routes. No problems. I have now bought the world maps and keep some of them on my tablet. Great app if you only have limited data connection. Searching works well.
Clear, accurate maps that work offline, and the useful added extra of things like speed camera warnings make this one of the first apps I install on a new phone. My only gripe is I can't seem to find a way of navigating to a postal code, just an address...
The offline maps are great for use when abroad to avoid roaming fees. Pricing is good for Europe (£3.99) but probably not for Oceania which is the same price. Routing is fully offline unlike Google maps and is worth the extra money. Maps are often large in size (France is 1gb) and there is no option to download parts of countries which have been purchased.
In general this is a useful and versatile app, but in doing a clean install on my new phone, it forces me to download Germany instead of USA for my free map. Tried uninstall and reinstall but to no avail. Needs work. Would purchase other countries if not for this bug.
I installed this app on my new GS7 Edge (upgraded from GS5), it now only offers me UK map as my free when it should be New Zealand. I might add, that I can't choose a different country either as this option is greyed out. Hoping there is an easy fix?
This was a good product until my Galaxy J5 was updated from Droid 5.x to 6.0. The J5 has only 8GB internal storage and usually has 1GB or less free space. With 5.x it was possible to load all the maps onto the external SD card leaving space for other Apps on internal storage. Since Doid 6.0 Scout no longer supports this. I can no longer use Scout. Lost the money spent on maps :-( Telenav support have confirmed this. Moving to a new product that fully supports storing the maps on External storage.
No update for over a year! What's going on!? I love this app, I use it for all my navigation needs. One thing though... I wish that it would let me download the maps where I want. Yes, I know that you can choose this from settings, but my car's head unit has about 4 external SD/USB slots and those do not appear in the settings. Please fix this
It may not have the routing options of CoPilot but is a FRACTION of the cost, both for the software and the maps, and map updates have never caused a problem (again unlike CoPilot). Also the voice direction was one of the best I've ever come across. It's like having a human direct you (even absentmindedly thanked it once!). If it had waypoints and better avoid route options it would be perfect. Can be a bit slow on less powerful phones.
Best 2euro I've ever spent. Faultless nav around California. Like the feature to save the location of where u parked, take a pic then nav back to its location later. Off line maps worked perfect. Why buy an expensive Sat nav?
Tells me SD card has been removed when other apps are running fine on it. Also you seem to be forced into having a random map as free (others probably cost but I can't tell as it doesn't work!)
It works in general. Sometimes it navigates through bus lanes where you are not supposed to enter. It is sometimes slow in giving map updates although open street map is updated for that region. All in all, I frequently use it and satisfied given the money I paid is less than most competitor.
Hello, to make it short, wanted to report an issue on the map of Iran which is related to the written Persian language on the map not the app itself. Actually words are separated from each other whenever they must join together. For instance This is what we see on the map خ ی ا ب ا ن و ل ی ع ص ر And that's what it must look like خیابان ولیعصر That includes all of the map of Iran. We really appreciate a fix. Be the way the app is really nice and well made. But this issue makes it really hard for us to use
The app is ok and it's interesting to see openstreetmap being use as intended as I edit it on a regular basis. However it has no waypoints in or be able to 'elastic band' the route path. Also the openstreetmap version used is quite old and updates over the last year are missing. There are other free apps doing far more than this. One even covers my red green colour problems.
I am using this app regularly on my way to school or on roadtrips and it's working fine, but after my Nexus 4 died and got a Huawei 4X, I cannot install my free map, because I don't have enough space on the internal storage, even if I have chosen the default storage to the SD card. Please guys, add support for SD card storage, it would help many other users too :-) And I am also disappointed that I got nothing as a refund when the app has been released for free instead of 5.49€.. Please reply to this review
This is an excellent and intuitive navigation app which is very easy to use. My one big complaint (and it's already been mentioned) is the lack of full postcode search when in offline mode. Please make it happen sooner rather than later
After setting up navigation, switching to Google Music and switching back, I was in map mode again and had to setup navigation a second time. Also autozoom is a mess. On the Autobahn, it was zoomed in too much. And it sent me to an Autobahn exit just to send me to the next ramp to the same Autobahn again. Happened two times already.
Is supposed to be fre application with 1 free local map. I live in New Zealand so I expect free map of New Zealand. But it silly application gives me only the map of Germany..... All maps are very old... No my street
Searched for an address 2 miles away, couldn't find it! What if I went on a journey? Then I tried to find the longest main road in the town. Not listed. Where I live, not listed. Current location, it gives London. Only 115 miles out.
Great app gives directions well in advance, got me out of Leeds city centre easily. Occasionally loses GPS signal but that may be the phone. No need to buy a stand alone sat nav when you have this!
When running it flattens my battery faster than my in car charger can keep it topped up. Also coordinates don't work, it goes to the same place regardless of input.
Downloaded the app and automatically downloaded Germany map not giving me opportunity to download my countries map UK. Not sure what's gone wrong as I had this on a previous phone and it gave me the option. Email sent to developer hope they know what's wrong
This app doesn't even let me use it. After 3 to 5 minutes it closes itself down everytime without fail. Tried uninstalling and re -installing with the same problem
I have used this app now for a couple of yearsnow. I've used the offline navigation in Colorado, California, Montana and Kansas and I have to say i find it a better user experience offline, then Google Maps is connected to my data. I have seen only an occasional issue with misdirections, but i always manage to get where i am going. I seriously could not live without this app on my phone. I wish the waypoint saving was a little easier as you have to enter each component of the address separately and can't just copy/paste from Yelp or Trip Advisor, etc. but i can live with that.
Latest rating to max stars. I use it on my motorbike. Find that I can get 50 - 60 miles of city riding on a cellphone charge using the GPS. I've upgraded to Europe maps as I travel in SW Europe. The only bit I don't like is not being able to select postcodes, but other than that, it's spot-on!
Until they add a button to turn off voice guidance and they add one word search, I can only say it's ok... But not worth the price for the whole package like I payed (20+€)
After careful concideration and nearly throwing me phone out the window cause the program says search for gps for 15 mins, its tooo slow and i wont downlaoding this again
Used data plan and anyway nav responds too late.. Needed turn right but sat nav sed when i all ready past the turn. Had free map England now after reinstall it's offers to download Turkey becouse i was where on holiday... WTF? Android 6 marshmallow
Great little app, but does have its minor quirks like getting some speed limits wrong, Other than that it's great.
Downloaded it thinking the offline mode will save me on data......has never been able to calculate a route without crashing
Seems a good app but no idea why i see Australia in my choice of map but after pressing ok it download Belarus for me instead which has no way to correct. Very weird. Reinstall and still stuck with Belarus so have to give this app up. Now i install it into another phone and this time it said my choice is Germany and again i cannot change it to Australia so uninstall right away. Shame.
Does what It is supposed to, i have found some of the instructions a bit unclear but if you miss a turning it soon redirects you. On the whole a good app that gets you where your going. Thanks.
Will be using it on a road trip to Switzerland soon. If it gets me there and back with no drama I'll up it to 5 stars. It worked very well so 5 stars it is.
This is a must have. A great navigation app.love the visuals. Searching for addresses is not the easiest but worth persevering with.
I liked it, GUI and menu is okay, but it has 3 things that should be corrected: - It will get you to your destination, but the route is not always optimal. - Is it possible to add waypoints? That feature would be really needed, i did not find it. - Every time i stop at a red light at an intersection, it wants to turn me around. "Make a U-turn now." As i go ahead it shows the good way again, but it should really tolerate the sudden stops much better.

so annoy the cursor as circle. you will don't know which way you facing at. the pointer cursor mandatory to know which direction where you at, when you without any route to put - especially as pedestrian or by bicycle. i know there is free mode and you have the pointer, but that unusefull because important place like building or other interest not showed. far better gmaps. think more if you want to buy the full maps like me. tought my data usage will reduce because this can offline, but then back to gmaps.
