Read reviews, said it was a awesome app so i bought it. I read the tutorial and started the story(before workout 1 week 1). I listened to the audio(great stuff) but continued to walk/sprint after the audio. I walked for 80 minutes at 21k feet waiting for another audio. But i got nothing. I sprinted for 500 feet to see if the feet/minute would trigger one. But nothing. Please add audio for when a training session is finished. Would have been great. So i stopped the mission and there is no completed tag. ???
I downloaded Media Monkey app and saved some music locally then created a separate playlist. It seems to be working, but there should still be a way use this app with a stream... The concept is great and has really motivated me to start running after years of being sedentary. I just finished week 3 and "ran" (walked/jogged) 7k.
I never, ever pay for apps but this was totally worth it. The story gets a little slow around week 5, but otherwise really engaging. I wish I could manipulate my playlist (skip or fast forward) without quitting out the mission. It would also be nice to have the option to pause the playlist when there is dialog instead of lowering the volume -- would make it easier to listen to a podcast or book. Otherwise awesome & I can't wait to graduate to the main app.
I'm using the free Shuttle music app and it works flawlessly. The introduction is a little confusing, but I just finished workout one and felt pretty motivated with great instructions. I'm using this as a way to get in shape for the zombies run game. I'm obese and it has a gentle curve to it. Plus, you can replay the missions as needed! Excellent app. Much better than working to music alone. I feel like I have a trainer and that is exactly what I need! Reduced to 4 stars. Some talking is too quiet.
I did the first run and found it really hard to even run for 200 meters, but completed the 5k yesterday and didn't stop once. Seriously the best app I ever bought; entertaining, great for a beginner and really let's you set your own pace, which allows and encourages you to push yourself. If you want to feel proud of yourself, more energetic and happier, then this will not disappoint.
I really REALLY want to love this app. The storyline is cool and I could see how this would be fun...but then it goes into run mode...which means motivating music is supposed to play...I get 20 minutes of absolute silence. I tried Google play...the "external app" they recommend on their website doesn't even show as an option. Uuug. I paid for this.
I only have the final training session left on this app which makes me quite sad but you can repeat training sessions. I have noticed a remarkable improvment in my ability to run especially after I ran with my sister who was in the same shape as me before I started this app 8 weeks ago. I was amazed at the difference. The story is good and you come to like the characters. My only issue was that some of the voices were too quiet for me to hear especially when running outside with cars passed by.
Other couch to 5k apps have been updated to support Google Fit, for updated interfaces, support for streaming music and more. It still works, same principle as other apps but unless you want the zombie story while running, you're better off paying for another app that offers more. 2015 is about to end, why spend your money on an app that was last updated in September 2013? Just buy another C25k app then get the main Zombies Run app when you're ready.
It's a good app for training. If you're looking for a more complete experience get the Zombies, Run app. This one doesn't have the home base or any of the really fun extra stuff, but the training program is solid and the plot line picks up after the first week! Can't wait to finish it and go back to the other app though.
Great app but always remember to log in before you start a run or you won't be able to sync that run and complete your board. Edit: Just finished the final week on to season 1. Just one note a mono button would be great so you could keep one ear open. If I take one ear bud out I end up missing story or prompts.
Throughout the program I've been getting better and better results and just this evening I completed week 8. It was a free form run and I wanted to set a goal and run the full 5k without breaking or walking. Well, it seems all the training more than paid off, as I managed to blow past that goal and run 5 miles straight. This program gives results if you stick with it. I've already downloaded the full program and I'm looking forward to seeing how much further I can improve myself.
I love this app! I've only been using it for a week or so, but I feel more motivated to run than I have by any other fitness or training app. I wish streaming music services could be connected, but I understand why they can't at this point. I am having an issue with the GPS and the step counter features: GPS gives me maybe a third of the distance I actually cover while the other option sometimes triples it! It's throwing off my progress on the Zombielink. Still love it, though!
This app is definitely worth it, and gives you motivation to keep going through a fun and creative way. My only complaint/request is support for music streaming services via API (Google Music/Songza/Spotify), instead of having to rely on local music only. I don't really download/buy music anymore, so this has been my one point of contention. (Note: there is no way to access Google Music made for offline use either)
No integration with Google play music which is not mentioned until you buy the app, even though the other zombies run game sports it. Win amp is recommended but it appears to have been discontinued and pulled from Google play store in 2014. Looks like sixtostart are more than happy to take money for this while concentrating all efforts on their new subscription based game.
This app is very good. Good training app, perfect for just starting to run. Couple of suggestions though; the app could tell you when you're half way through so you know when to turn around and run home! Needs to be compatible with online music apps like Spotify etc otherwise if music isn't stored on your phone it makes for a quiet run.
This app has taught me that "listening" to my body and knowing what it can and can't handle is the most important ability to have while running. While I can't run an entire distance of 5k, I can finish under 36 minutes and I can run for more than 10 minutes at a time rather than 2. Great story, good program, and 20 pounds lost means no complaints from me. The only way to get better is to keep on running!
The app itself works great on my Moto G 2nd generation running 4.4. It links fine with Zombielink, and I was able to check it online. The music was a hurdle tho, since it doesn't work with external music players, and also doesn't read playlists made by Google Music. This was worked around by checking their website where they recommend using Shuttle Music to make the playlists, which worked perfectly. So, it gets a 4, for almost being perfect other than the little music hiccup.
I'm terribly disappointed-- app works fine with their recommended music app and so on, but I paid for this version and it's not the paid version. In fact, they haven't updated this version in years (since 2013) as far as I can tell. It looks like you need to use the other (Free) version, and subscribe monthly from there. I'd like a refund and for the description to accurately reflect the situation. If you want to make me pay, fine, but be up front about how and where.
There are a few quirks that should be worked out. It would be nice if it could adjust the music volume, or pause the music while giving instructions. Instructions are almost impossible to hear if you choose to have music playing. Also, someone else mentioned having a skip track feature. That's an excellent idea. I paused the mission, backed out to shut off music, then had to restart the mission from the beginning. Was kind of a bummer. Overall, it's great fun, great for motivation.
Used to run 4 miles three times a week, then I got a new job and exercise was put on the backburner until the point were I couldn't even run a half mile without stopping. This app was perfect for slowly retraining myself and getting back into running. I'm losing weight and I'm feeling healthy and strong. Occasionally the app skips and says you've run 15 seconds when you've only done like two seconds or the written directions say 5min when its really 10, but not often. The app is well worth the money.
I've checked and I do have ample storage. To be sure of this I have checked my settings and also deleted every app I do not use in hopes of getting this app.I also have a legacy account as well. I paid 7.99 to "run with Zombies" figuring that would help, eventually that app did download. This is the app that I need because I do most of my running indoors. I loved this app. I've tried for 2 days to get it to download. I wish I knew what else I could do!
It gives you a great drive to run and complete missions. The voice acting isn't bad. The only issues that I have run across so far is that the GPS tracking doesn't work, so I have to use the acceleration sensor to count steps and I've purchased the game hearing good reviews from friends but I don't have access to premium content and it is still saying I need to purchase. Once I hit the button to access the premium content at the end of the missions, it does nothing and prompts you to push a "retry" button.
I have had this app for a good two years now. I remember the first time I used it weekly and got to the end of the app, it was weird to have to skip around my town at first, but once how I actually saw my progress, I didn't even care. At the end of this app I was able to run a 3k, wait for it, without stopping! This app is incredibly fun and helpful. My only problem with it is that the music can only be played from your phone from a playlist. And if you use an app for music, it won't dim down the Zombie
This is an awesome running app. Love the story and they are talking to you. You become part of the story. Makes my training much more fun. I REALLY REALLY hope the makers come out with more apps just like thus one but for 10k, half marathons, and full marathons. Worth the money for the app. I would pay for more app if they come out..I really hope they do **HINTHINT**
Been using this tree times a week all summer. I love it. Keeps me moving and engaged in the story. I'm probably in the best shape of my life (so far) partly because of this app. One hint- My 60 min long mp3 confused the app, just split it into short normal length tracks
I have the Marshmallow update on my Nexus 5. On Zombies, Run! I was able to use Pandora during my runs, but I'm never run and I wanted a beginner program for this app. There is no music app available for me to use, so I'm not totally sure how to use the app to it's fullest potential and stay motivated.
The story really drives the motivation to use the app. As well as the "achievements." Great training regime to go from couch to 5k. Only down side is that it doesn't work with Google play music. You have to have music files actually loaded to your phones memory, and not encrypted like what Google play does. Also you have to create a playlist... needs better music management. That's the only reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5.
It seems as though they've given up on improving/supporting this app. Syncing has to be done manually through their website, your only option is runkeeper, music player is still buggy and no new features or options. I really wanted to love this app but the company behind it is causing the app to fail by not fixing the issues present within the app. I won't purchase another app by this company..I'll stick with the bigger high reputation companies from now on. So much for small startups being more caring.
Love the application; entertains me and pushes me to go out and run. I used to hate running, especially outside - now I get exiting on my running days and have completed a 5K with more scheduled on the way. Can't wait to finish this program and try out their other running app.
I really like the storyline and everything is done to a high level of quality. However... It is not the standard Couch to 5K program. It starts off, even on day 1, giving far too much "wiggle" room in the program and therefore does a poor job of building your endurance. The Free Form sections of the program are, I believe, were a mistaken departure from the proven Couch to 5K schedule.
I've completed the first week and I already love this app. In the past, I've tried some 5K apps but none of them was this good. While using those apps I was thinking "When will it end?!" But this app is different. It makes me want to go outside for a run. Also checking how was your workout on zombielink account is so nice.
I purchased this app and it doesn't give any choices for music other than "my recordings". I was excited for the story but it won't let me advance unless I walk the entire time. It would be awesome if it worked like the c25k app but had the story mode of zombies run.
Entertaining... Easy to run to and super helpful training tool for me. If I had one issue it is that whatever your playlist is when you start is what you get. Have to reset the settings for the app to get the updated playlist. A playlist refresh button would be great. That way when I add a song it mixes it in with the rest of the playlist. That alone is the only reason for the 4 star rating
Dear developer, why do you state explicitly inside the app (after I've purchased it) that your app isn't compatible with Google Play Music, yet this fact isn't mentioned anywhere in your lenghty app description? For those hoping to use their streaming music service with this app, save your money, it won't work with this app.
This version isn't the full version for me, it's only like ten workouts and there's no base builder or anything. Please reply to me, it's not like I actually wanna run in a five k, but I still want to full version of this app, this app was 1.99, I want the full version, I want to use this app and I would really like it if I actually get what I paid for. The way I know this isn't the full version is well, what I said above, and if I scroll all the way to the right, it suggest I buy the full version.
It's great but is there a list of music players that work for this app? I've tried alot of them but it still doesn't detect any playlists
I can't hear the characters talking over my music player. Definitely wouldn't be able to hear a zombie. Also having problems with the armband accelerometer...it says I'm doing 26km a workout when I'm doing maybe 10. My SHealth step tracker doesn't have a problem keeping up accuracy with my steps so I don't know why the program can't get it right.
It's really good motivation but I wish there was separate volume for music and the voices because I die a lot from not hearing the RUN!! But that's all there is to dislike about this app.
Distance units are all messed up. Ran a 5k and the app says I ran 7.5k. Repeatedly off. Resets preferences like shuffle mode for music. Doesn't pot down music enough to hear characters speaking. Now the horrid website is "in development." Crap.

It's fun! It's immersive! It makes me want to really run! I haven't had a chance to try this app fully, but I have used the free version of the regular Zombies, Run! and it is wonderful. I think I'll use this one now and if I finish it, I'll move on to the regular app. Just one small thing: ZombieLink does not let me log in. Is it because I already use the other app or something else? I want to record my runs for both apps if able!
