About Rapid HVAC Pipe Sizing
A quick, simple to use HVAC (or other uses) pipe sizing tool which does the engineering work for you. Rapid HVAC Pipe Sizing can determine pipe sizes for a variety of materials with copper pipe, steel pipe and plastic pipe standards for the United States, (ASME), Europe (EN) and Australia (AS) all included within the calculations, for selection as desired. Standard water fluid properties are included natively within the calculations, so you don't need to go searching for densities and viscosities, just tell Rapid HVAC Pipe Sizing what temperature the water is and you are set!
This is the quickest and easiest to use pipe sizing calculator on Google Play. Just punch the water flow rate (in L/s, CFM, US GPM or UK GPM) into the numpad and choose between your sizing criteria. You can swap between 3 different temperature settings and 3 different materials on the fly with a single button press. Tap any of the units displayed and you can change them instantly, setting your velocity (m/s, FPS or FPM), diameter (mm or inches), pressure drop (Pa/m or psi/ft) and temperature (celsius or fahrenheit) units to suit your preferences. The friction factor used in calculating the pressure drop is determined through an iterative solution of the Colebrook equation as recommended by ASHRAE, so it is the most accurate method you can use. Water density and pressure are calculated internally through a standard water properties table based on the temperatures you set, so you don't need to mess around pulling these together yourself like in other pressure drop calculators.
When it comes to pipe standards, often the nominal diameter is quite different to the actual real inside diameter of the pipe. So Rapid HVAC Pipe Sizing is preloaded with the actual internal diameters that American, European and Australian standards require. It uses these inside its calculations, but tells you the resulting nominal diameter so you can get the right size copper pipe, steel pipe or plastic pipe.
Rapid HVAC Pipe Sizing isn't just for HVAC engineers though. The pipe sizing methods are also equally applicable to hydraulic pipe, fire pipe and other water flow applications. Due to its ease of use, it is great for pipe installers looking to check their copper pipe, steel pipe or plastic pipe sizes. Building Services consultants use it for rapid sizing of pipes in their HVAC and hydraulic pipe designs. HVAC contractors use it to size their piping to suit the project specific sizing criteria. Architects use it to check how much riser space needs to be allocated to HVAC and hydraulic trades.
