Caustic 3 for Android
I've been making beats since the Octamed / Amiga days, and this app blows me away. Really intuitive & lots of choice for synths & drumsets. Great for beginners to learn the basics of the boom-bip, but deep enough for busters like me to experiment too. Just amazing.
This is what taught me about synthesizers and manipulating waveforms. Youtube tutorials are made for beginners yet thorough. This $10 app has given me exposure to equipment i would never have had money to play with otherwise. I can stop drooling over Ableton for a while now that i have this bargain. Hooking up a cheap midi keyboard to my phone allows me to practice piano in my armchair. Bonus!
Hands down best mobile DAW I've ever used. I've tried garageband and FL Studio mobile in the past but they lack important features. Apps like those seem to be meant for getting down only musical ideas while Caustic is equipped for mixing and synthesis. My favorite feature is the modular synth, it's a good tool for learning about synthesizers and it's inspired me to get an analog synth of my own.
So, is there anything we can get you? Because this is the best gift I ever got for making music. 3.2 is a game changer. Thank You! *Update: Just wanted to ask 1 fav!! With the new SawSynth, which is amazing, can you please set full midi mapping for the Pitch Envelope and LFO knobs? They make great Mod Wheel Tools and it would be cool to record and play them live remotely. Again, you and your app are Caustic! Thank You!!!
Absolutely amazing, in terms of what you can achieve on this app. Ive used FL studio and this makes it look like a toddlers app. Ive already dropped about 20$ in dlc/soundpacks and I'm completely satisfied. Support for third party packs, and even for third party apps for previous versions of caustic. Wow. Just Wow. I really hope devs continue the hard work, this could easily take over play store. Thankyou for giving us apps this good on our phones. It's nearly PC quality. I'm infinitely impressed.
Fruity loops? No way Jose! This app is insane! When you begin with a project and get into it, you will occasionally forget that you are using a phone. Lower latency tips for users; Options: 'audiotrack' is for mastering and 'opensl-whatever' is for recording (hence lower latency). Also set 'Internal latency' to 'lowest'. If you have root access, then u should use L-speed, Kernel Adiutor or similar to tweak for performance to your needs. Whew..
This is AMAZING. Single Cell Software, you did what noone did so well! This app turned my Tablet useful! The only Android DAW that I reccomend. And even beats GarageBand. And beats FLStudio. And beats 99% of PC DAWs. And this new 3.2 update is EPIC. I LOVE the new SawSynth and the needed features (like the little graphic representation on pitches in the sequencer 'cells') are more that anyone could ask for. You know, well worth the price for the Key! This is the best! Keep up the great work!
This android DAW is superb! It needs more improvement. The effect/plug-in channel instead of two slots that are available, this should be add more slots. Moreover, adding import custom plug-ins would be fantastic. One thing for sure, instead of adjusting velocity, we need multi articulation too - so it can be adjust to the desired dynamic especially for instrument music(PCMsynth).
Casutic 3.2 Exceeds my expectations. The new Sawsynth is a game changer. Amazing powerful! The only limit is your imagination. This app has pulled me away from games. At the end of day I would rather have a song than 50,000 game points. Love how I can start writting a song on my tablet and then move it and finish on my pc. Lots of add on packs. Try it out and buy the full version. You will not be sorry.
This is so good. I am from the fruity class but there are loads of reasons I prefer Caustic to fl, mobile at least. I would like to see an option to import whole wav files but I am still happy to cut samples and use the pcm. The mod alone is worth its weight plus more. The sounds I have made using the width and delays are incredible. 9/10 for product, 10/10 for effort
Makes everything else look like a child's toy. Developer is obviously a sinister mastermind. I can't say I've ever seen anything this good before on any platform. It is so well refined, and yet feature packed with very little to get in the way of creating something easily. Truly amazing software, on a phone!
????????BEST LIVE DAW for Android. I can automate anything, create new effects, make bus mixers and new synths - ON THE FLY! It's not tricky. ( *Watch the YouTube videos for details and unlock the Easter eggs.)
I'm back to re edit my very old review from 2012, only because I love Caustic so much. It's been at least 5 plus years of using Caustic on an almost daily basis. I know this app completely, inside and out, 100% all the way through. It is a masterpiece in of itself. It's like the early days of Reason, in the palm of my hand. It's a very powerful tool, everything can be programmed, any format can be loaded, and exported, it's MIDI capable, has built in audio editor with visuals and multiple tools, theme can be changed as well, heck, I could go on forever about what it can do. Caustic makes it very easy to take your ideas and inspirations and turn them into music. I use this app more than I use any other app on my devices. It's incredible, I absolutely love it, and I swear by it.
Best portable DAW out there! But would be even better if there's an option to make the songs saveable to SD? A complete song with many tracks eats too much of my phone memory.. and i moved a song to SD but i cant load it fron caustic. Hope you guys can work on this too thanks!
Best DAW after Ableton Live! Wonderful range of features and functionality. This app could make you feel less attached to the DAW on your PC....... Thank you for adding stereo capabilities.... Definitely worth the few bucks it costs. If there is one thing I can ask for, it would be to have the two empty slots on master channel replaced by a Spectrum Analayzer (esp. one of 7 phases, if possible, with ability to fill the whole screen). A Spectrum Analayzer is the ome thing that will male this DAW the best ever! (exporting to .mp3 is not really a priority but it might be nice... The Spectrum Analayzer is a necessity). Thank you anyways!.
Great app especially with the new update. The new saw synth, octave, and tremelo effects are great. The new volume level monitor and the notes on the patterns in the sequencer is a great feature. Only thing it's missing is a pitch shifter effect. The octave effect doesn't do what I thought it would. If it was more like a pitch shifter it would be great.
I immediately fell in love with Caustic. Purchasing it is the way to go...15 yrs production experience and I will say this program gives several other much more expensive progs a run for their money. Definitely worth the few bucks to get the unlock key. Long live Caustic.
Just a great app. The 3.2 update really added some needed features and I think it's now got just about everything I could ask for. The dev is wonderful, the updates are significant, app does exactly what you think it will and surprisingly more. Can't recommend enough. Great job.
Simply Amazing...robust in features, works great with midi controllers, no latency, like a mobile version of Reason and nearly as powerful. You do not need an iPad for powerful music DAW apps. This is all you need on Android. Period. Don't waste money on anything else. This is it.
3.1 was missing support for stereo samples and manipulation of single samples for application of effects to them... What was missing has been added in 3.2 and I can definitely tell this app is the best DAW on the store: fast/light, intuitive, powerful, and with a lot of material to start with.
I've had this app for a few years. The on-screen keyboard has stopped working on some of the keys. I would love to continue using and recommending this app to others, but until this is fixed, what's the point? I've tried raising the problem on the forum and reinstalled it, but nothing has worked... I would appreciate some help!
This is the best Android Music Maker app. Improvements: • Can you please add those Big Big Drums. • In terms of Midi, please advance the midi recording. Please cause it to be sensitive to touch. That's all my requests Thank you
pretty cool and tons of features. I know the keyboard isn't the biggest feature but I did notice I can hold down one key then tap another one and all keyboard sounds stop with the release of the new note. can't get funky fresh if my sustain is broken. solid app aside from that minor thing.
This app has helped me get a six pack and The Ladies can't keep their hands off me!! I bought a lottery ticket yesterday and won 6 trillion dollars because of this app, I am currently on vacation in Dubai with my 12 wives. I swear after I bought the app my balls grew 2x their size. I get booty calls every hour, thanks Caustic!!
This is a very fun toy and can even reach some serious levels. I was quite expecting the leading DAW on Android to be Superpowered, but testing latency shows that Android's horrific audio latency thwarts every audio latency oprimization any app might have. Great app on a crippled platform.
This app is incredible for making sounds and music. The range of synths and effects can make, after getting used to, professional sounds. One thing to improve is to maybe make the sequencer better so that you can add more files, like separate midi or wav files. I know you can use the pcm synth, but that's quite complicated, and you only have 8 semibreves of space. Great app otherwise though!
Decided to demo this to see if midi latency was finally at acceptable levels with my new phone. Loaded it up, connected my controller which was recognized right away and started hunting for a suitable percussive melodic sound to test the latency. Received a message that midi function had expired within the demo and would be permanently disabled. Literally 3 minutes of demo time and I couldn't even test it. Giving one star for wasting my time. The only limitations listed are for saving and exporting. I have many professional software instruments on PC costing hundreds of dollars and most of those companies give you a full 7 days to decide if their product is worth the money.
My goodness, you had to take away song saving? That is just unforgiving (when the system crashes, all the work is deleted and can't be retrieved), but this app still is very interesting and fun! Updated review: It's about time! I knew Single Cell Software won't let me down :) The new update is fascinating.
*BEST MOBILE DAW IMO* I would like if the tracks wouldn't retrigger when I change the tempo. Edit 1/3/18: The app loads songs fast and doesn't have a huge impact on my CPU Also the retrigger problem I stated above was fixed a while back (thanks devs????). Edit 1/3/18: This app is great. It is the best mobile daw I've used! I haven't even had the need to try an other daws. I've been using it live for over 3 years now. There are still a few of things I would like to see resolved is possible but overall, it is a great app. (No cue feature, warps long way files, and playing songs over Bluetooth is wonky)
You guys are the best. Amazing update. This app crushes the game. I have made over 100 ridiculous trap beats already. Also love the new sawsynth update, with time signature???? and scales keep the awesome coming
Astonishing creative power. Way more expensive apps cannot do even the fraction of what a single submodule of Caustic 3 can. Worth every cent. It's not easy as pie to use it, but definitely worth the learning. Definitive music creation station for Android.
I used to be a "hardware" only guy when making tracks. After some gear problems (breaking down and theft), I needed another option. Caustic allows me to put ideas into action way beyond anything I did in the past. The free pc version is the thick layer of frosting on my musical cake. Props for developing a game changer.
Absolutely stunning mobile DAW. It holds up against all of my audio sketches, and could easily be used to learn modular, processing and music construction in general. I've only been playing with it for a few days, but I've already used it a ton and use it to make samples and synth sounds for my heavyweight workstation. It's perfect when I work with it in my down time on the bus or train.
The one and only DAW on Android that works for me. There is no limitation in rhythmics aspect! I can do all crazy stuff that comes to my mind. Thank you very much for such great product!!
It's a good mobile DAW - not as powerful as anything available on the PC but still good. I will but it once one problem is fixed: this app drains battery. I would certainly buy the full version if it didn't drain so much battery life when I use it.
This works with Alesis wireless keytar with only an occasional latency. This occurs when no data has been streaming. Ex: a slight rest and then a chord stab. The organ gets munchkenized (tinny) in high pitch. This is manageable with drawbars. Thanks Rej from the world that can't afford $1k workstations. I created an entire cd with this while laid up in bee with broken leg!
Monster DAW!..still learning about producing music digitally and this app is a blessing! Makes everything a little bit easier. So far I've learned the concept of making patterns, making different kinds of sounds using machines and effects, arranging these sounds in the sequencer, mixing each channels for each machines, editing sound waves, equalizing,etc...there's just so much that you can do with this app! Im still trying to learn the analog thing, it's crazy difficult but fun.Bless you dev! Bless me i found this !
Between algorithms and mathematical gestures this application is some of the most intuitive fun I've ever had composing music! Single cell ftw! Would love to see. 1] 3, 5, 6, time signatures(or odd time signatures) 2]tempo automation. 3] delay count automation in future updates.
I never work with synths or have access to drum pads, so this is a great way to get more familiar with it if you already make music. Very portable, cheap, and it seems there are dozens of free presets to download specifically for this app. Smartest thing they could is allow free download of the app to test with. Makes it much easier to buy that key. Only drawback is using it on a tiny Samsung S7. This is probably far more phablet and tablet friendly solely due to the use of the app.

If you want to mak good-sounding music, GET THIS APP! I am in LOVE with this app. It's a little hard to learn how to use at first (if you've never made music before) but it's not hard to learn at all. I just with I could listen to the 99¢ add-ons before I buy them, but I'm positive I'll love them anyway.
