About SkySafari 5

################################################################
Countdown to the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse of the Sun with SkySafari.

New eclipse feature lets you know exactly when the eclipse will start in your location, how long it will last and when it will end. Use the interactive eclipse path map to explore the eclipse from other locations and figure out where you need to go to experience totality!
################################################################

SkySafari 5 is the newest version of the world's best astronomy app!!

If you've used an older version of SkySafari, here's what's new:

1) Rewrite of the compass code for smoother and more accurate sky tracking.

2) Tonight at a Glance: the location and rise/set times of the Sun, Moon, Planets, and International Space Station in one handy view!

3) Notifications when the ISS and other major satellites will pass overhead, and when the planets rise!

4) Completely new sound effects, and a new look to the sky and horizon. A brighter, more visible Moon.

5) Object lists in the Search menu now show thumbnail images for every object which has a photograph, and also now shows their rise/set times.

6) Updated object descriptions. Every object now has a description!

7) Reworked Time Flow controls. Set the date and time directly from the main toolbar.

If you haven't used SkySafari before, here's what you can do with it.

• See an eclipse now, in the past or in the future! Simulate the night sky from anywhere on Earth many years in the past or in the future! Animate meteor showers, comet approaches, transits, conjunctions, and other celestial events with SkySafari’s Time Flow.

• Locate the Sun, Moon, or Mars from our extensive database and track the arrow to be directed to their exact locations in the sky before you. See spectacular views of Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and other planets!

• Learn about the history, mythology, and science of heavens! Browse from hundreds of object descriptions, astronomical photographs, and NASA spacecraft images in SkySafari. Explore tons of NASA Space Missions!

All this is built into SkySafari 5 – no need for an Internet connection. It's a powerful planetarium that fits in your pocket, puts the universe at your fingertips, and is incredibly easy to use! This app is everything the casual stargazer will ever want.

Additional Features:

• 120,000 stars; over 200 star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies; all major planets and moons, and dozens of asteroids, comets, and satellites including the International Space Station (ISS).

A good app for a beginners guide to the universe

The most detailed star map so far! However, there are a number of nebulas and objects like LMC and SMC that are shown on the map but not searchable. Please include them in the database.

A pretty good basic (no telescope control), easy to use astronomy app. The app controls are simple to learn and use. I believe this app is much better than apps that cost more so I upgraded from version 4 to version 5. My only complaint is that the "Orbit Mode" feature is a IAP and you can not remove the "Orbit" icon from the bottom option bar. This becomes very annoying because every time you accidentally hit the "Orbits" icon, the app asks you to make a IAP to buy this feature. I deducted 1 star until this is fixed - since I have no use for this feature, I should not be nagged into buying it.

Well judged balance of presentation and accuracy in depicting sky. Controls smooth and intuitive. Music can be intrusive on default settings.

I've only used the compass mode and it tells me what I'm looking at. That's great for this novice.

Purchased, but unable to download on the Galaxy S8 Plus. Please fix and I will change my review.

I like I guess. Don't suspect that I'll use it in the field much. Might be a cool learning tool for uninitiated. Still nothing like getting out there under the stars with a planisphere and a flashlight covered with red film.

Great app! Very informative, too !

Sometime back I purchased the orbit mode in my tablet, and I thought all subsequent orbit modes are free on the same Google account. Tech support promised I shouldn't have to pay again, and they have an update which didn't fix the problem at all.

O70%
by O####:

Great. So much content for the 4 bucks. Also orbit mode, only a dollar, and pretty great.

C70%

How do I turn off the notifications because I will get them in times I don't want them please help

Y70%

Very good app

X70%

U70%

The interface is the same, Skyweek works intermittently (a feature I really enjoyed), the orbit feature sounds like it would be interesting for about a minute, and that music (that I disabled with Tasker) all make me wish I hadn't downloaded it overnight. Very disappointing for a major update. I hope it improves.

V70%
by V####:

I wish there were a way to compensate for the compass inaccuracy. Everything else is great. Not really sure why sound effects are on by default, but at least they can be turned off.

Y70%
by Y####:

Seriously... there's no way to shut off those sounds and cheesy music. Kills it for me...
