Shortorange Podcast Player for Android
Hey, just wanted to thank you for this awesome application. I've searched long and hard for a podcast manager that syncs between Windows and Android easily and I've finally found it. Thank you. Just some feedback, I'd love a widget for Shortorange and the ability to control playback speed! Other than that, you have my support!
Soooooo close. Please, please, PLEASE add the shortlist to the app.
The website is great, and the app ui is great. For some reason, the audio player doesn't have skip back or forward controls, which is annoying. But what makes it completely unusable is that when you pause a podcast and then resume it starts it from the beginning! Super annoying when you're an hour or two into a podcast and there's no way to skip forward! One they get basic audio controls working this'll be my go to player. Until then it's unusable!
I like it. Simple. Easy to listen to podcasts. Major gripe: once playing, can't seem to remove notification even if stop playing without rebooting phone.
It's great when it works, but lately I haven't been able to search without the app crashing
I like this podcast app specifically for the reason it syncs progress between all devices because I listen to some that are over two hours long. However there's a few things that need improvement still, specifically there's no timeline option like the desktop version which is how I keep track of which podcasts are updated.
I frequently use the desktop version, which I love. I was really stoked to see this developed for Android. Basically I'm looking for SO to replace "Podcast Addict". As of right now I have both apps downloaded. For me to truly replace Podcast Addict with Short Orange I'd like to see some of the PA features included in SO. 1. Ability to make a playlist or have access to the short list. 2. I listen to podcasts mainly at work in an automotive garage via Bluetooth earpiece. I don't like how podcasts don't continue to the next episode without manual intervention. Oil and grime on the phone is obviously not good. 3. Manual refresh would be nice, instead of hoping the podcast feed refreshes reliably on it's own. 4. Would like to see the ability to speed up podcast speed (1.5x) 5. Absolute long shot, but scrobble support to Last.fm would be nice! I love the minimalist interface and color code idea. I really want to make this my main mobile podcast app, but as of now, it's just not as functional as podcast addict. I never leave reviews for apps but I'm really rooting for y'all.
I have used the web app many times and I love the simplicity or the android app. Its the best minimalist interface I have seen for an android podcast app, but the casts I follow are not up to date. That's a nonstarter for me. I'm going to keep checking hopefully it gets fixed before they add too many 'features'. Heartbroken guys, heartbroken.
I'm rooting for you guys. If your app worked and had some more basic features I could switch. 1. Android app (and desktop site) loses progress ALL THE TIME. even downloading the podcast doesn't solve the issue. I can't stand when I pause and then come back to the opening of the podcast. This is the main reason I can't use the app for now. 2. Add downloaded episodes view. Otherwise it's easy to lose track of which feeds have downloaded episodes. 3. Bluetooth button controls 4. Did I mention tracks lose progress? This app is an awesome idea but it's simply unusable til these features are addressed.... Especially the progress issue. Rooting for you guys. I especially appreciate how quickly you respond to feedback. I may try again in the future. Good luck.
Works well, syncs fast with the web version. Could really do with headphone controls and swipe up to open currently playing (instead of the small arrow in the bottom left)
Good start. Needs speed settings. Your webapp has it.
Unfortunately, this app refuses to work on my phone. It opens, but it sticks on the main screen. I cannot access anything. Makes me sad, because I was so excited when I received the notification ShortOrange was now on Android.
i signed in with google and it just seems to force close immediately every time i open it
I like but could use some work

Very close to replacing Podkicker as my go-to podcasting app. It just needs the "timeline" (a listing of all recent podcast episodes from each podcast in a single list), and the "shortlist" (list of downloaded & queued up episodes). These both already exist on the website. Add these to the app and I will give five stars. You're almost at the finish line, ShortOrange!
