About Wikiplacemarks
Wikiplacemarks is used in all of our more than 30 Google Play applications. But we have now created a stand alone application for those that want to use our placemarks and waypoints directly. Our rich and unique database is easy to use allowing users to locate a placemark of interest and navigate to it or even create tours combining different placemarks of interest into a navigable route. Rather than attempt to present every possible point on our maps, Wikiplacemarks screens for the most interesting and important placemarks eliminating extensive perusing by users for places of interest. We also categorize locations to help users locate those placemarks of interest by subject. We have 45 subject categories allowing users to focus only on sites of interest. Even the hundreds of thousands of carefully chosen sites on Wikiplacemarks have required organization to be easily used. Choose from subjects as diverse as historic events, places and documents, film and movie locations, interesting archaeological sites, architectural and engineering landmarks and marvels, battles and siege sites and events, cemeteries and grave sites of famous people, famous people former home, birthplaces, deaths, etc., scenic views and attractions and spectacular photo spots, interesting geological sites, infamous crime scenes and events, and many more. Add your own placemarks and include them in your tours. We also allow users to add personal placemarks (viewable only by the user) such as houses you have lived in, birthplaces of love ones, important events in your life, important genealogical sites related to your family, etc.
