About Fairway & Greene
We are very proud of our rich history. Our story is important because it reflects the inherent dedication and standard of quality that Fairway & Greene was built upon and still embodies today. The year was 1992. But in the mind of founder Rick Martin, it was the summer of 1955. The names Demaret, Hogan, Snead and Nelson dominated the game as they walked the storied fairways of Winged Foot, Colonial and Cypress Point. Their skills on the course were matched only by the sartorial elegance they brought to the game. Always beautifully attired in the finest hand tailored clothing, those players looked the part as much as they played it.
Over the forty-year stretch that preceded Fairway & Greene’s advent, golf apparel suffered a steady decline. Classical styling and quality were sacrificed as manufacturers abandoned golf’s heritage in favor of their own colors, designs and fabrics. Yet in the winter of 1995, Fairway & Greene was launched directly to consumers through a mailed catalog. Renowned artist, Paul Lipp, used vintage photographs, ephemera and full swatch cards to showcase the beautiful fabrics, images and finishes that had been missing from the game for so long. From there, Fairway & Greene started distributing its products through the green grass channel, committed to creating the best products for the Country Club customer. Almost instantly, Fairway & Greene became the preferred company for the Golf/Country Club and Luxury Resort consumer. Fairway & Greene’s signature, double mercerized Egyptian cotton shirt with proprietary collar paired beautifully with coordinating alpaca sweaters and Peruvian pima cotton knitwear. Fine golf apparel was defined as such for over a decade.
In the first decade of the 21st century, active performance driven product entered the market and Fairway & Greene made a seamless transition. Fairway & Greene’s Pureformance product defines the “hybrid” shirt in golf today. Created from a plated fabric, Egyptian cotton is knit on the face of the fabric for a soft feel; polyester comes into play on the underside, actively moving perspiration from the skin. Additionally, Fairway & Green introduced the Tech Jersey and Tech Pique. Knit with full dull polyester, both shirts have a rare, “washed” look. The Tech Jersey and Tech Pique are also knit at the perfect tension, delivering luxurious hand feel. Pairing either with the exceptional Caves Quarter Zip offers the most sophisticated tech product ever known.
All of the Fairway & Greene product, from the first double mercerized knits to today’s tech items, carries the same DNA and offers the same quality promise we have held for 16 years. At Fairway & Greene, traditional colors in haberdashery patters are cut to fit the modern gentleman. When wearing Fairway & Greene you belong on any first tee in the world. Just like Demaret, Hogan, Snead and Nelson.
