Its great concept but not much to show at the moment. It could learn more rules including racing rules, harbour entry and night lights reading.

Excellent app. Thank you!

But I train kids for sailing and this app help them learning the basic rules.

S70%
by S####:

A really great tool, and easy visualization of rules 1 & 2. The only downside... is that it is only rules 1 and 2! To the developer, please develop some more rules. This is easily the finest rules simulator I have ever found.

Not excited about an update that gives permissions for something that has nothing to do with the function of the program.

T70%
by T####:

Firstly the App is mis-titled & therefore mis-leading to newcomers to sailing. The 'Rules of the Road' -'Collregs' state that there are only 'Stand On' & 'Give Way' vessels. There is no right of way. Also it is everyones duty to avoid a collusion at sea. In the description of the App it says 'avoid those embarassing collisions' !! Like your going to have one! NO - you shouldn't be having a collision. Suggest that if you intend to download this app go study collregs & racing regs instead.

K70%
by K####:

There is no such thing as right_of_way in maritime law. A vessel must either GIVE WAY or STAND ON its current way. This means the stand-on vessel must maintain its course so long as it's safe to do so. To change course when not necessary, the stand-on vessel would be in violation of the Collision regulations (Col-Regs).

K70%
by K####:

Covers basics of starboard tack and leeward right of way. Does not have marks or starting right of way scenarios. No way to easily quit the app so that is annoying.

Just installed the update and when trying to run it, it says that it can no longer run on my hardware - Motorola Xoom

Great app for learning right of way. Would be better if their were other rules. For example, racing rules, mark room

If the developer can insert more scenarios, this will go far

Might be great but who would know cause you can't download it. I tried about 100 times and tried everything.

Pros:- Works well. Attractive, simple but clear simulations of a range of conflict situations where rules 1 & 2 apply. If the wind direction or boat priority is not clearly evident you can press the button to present an alternative scenario. Aim = To get 5/5 correct. Cons:- Only covers rules 1 & 2. (hence only 3 stars at the moment). Are more rules in the pipeline? UPDATE - Pretty good for learning two critical rules. Like the way you can swipe across the bottom to present alternative viewpoints.

Train the 2 most important sailing rules in a 3D simulation. App is well done. But only the two most basic sailing rules make it only usefull for the absolute beginner in regatta sailing.

Y70%
by Y####:

Love the idea, but when you get something wrong, it doesn't tell you why. It feels that there are bugs over what is correct, but since it doesn't say why I was wrong I can't be sure vs I'm interpreting the situation wrong.

You can't always tell which boat is going which direction. By the directions if they are on the same line the windward must give way, but sometimes the images so small with the vessel's being spread out so far, that you can't tell if they're on the same line or not. It may look like it's on the same and so you choose the windward vessel, which is what you do according to the rules, only to find out that they were not on the same line. The vessel being spread out so far that they become too small to tell.
