WiFi HotSpot for Android
Doesn't work I don't know how to use it. Does it only work when your phone is on?
This is the only widget I've found that correctly shows the hotspot as turned on or off, but the toggle does not work (you still have to goto settings to turn it on/off). Really wish I could find a widget that works for this.
This would be perfect if it automatically enabled mobile data when switched on and then disabled it when switched off (seeing as, in most instances, there's no use in a hotspot without mobile data). To avoid annoying users who always keep their data connection on or having users unwittingly have their data eaten up when their done, you could have the widget first check to see if mobile data is already enabled. If it was already enabled, leave it on; otherwise switch back off again when finished.
I have been using widget for years on 3 different phones. Samsung Galaxy 6 did an update yesterday and now widget wont work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times and still wont work. Either samsung, sprint, and app creator's. Either way hope it can be fixed so i can change to 5 stars
Turns wifi off that is all. When I manually enable it, the widget shows blue. If I manually disable it, the widget shows red. But the widget itself does not want to do the task. I have a Samsung S5 running Andoid 5.0 (AT&T). Promising though
I have a Samsung Galaxy s6, and it didn't do anything. My hot spot was on, it didn't turn it off- I had to go into settings to turn it off. Then I tried turning it on, and it doesn't work. Restarted my phone, to no avail. I will not be reinstalling since it uses up data that I would rather use on something else.
This widget works well on my Samsung Galaxy S5 for enabling the hotspot. However, when using it to turn OFF the hotspot it fails to re-enable WiFi and I have to manually switch on WiFi.
I had a hard time finding the hotspot after installing also, but if you HUMAN BEINGS would take your time to read and analysis you will see in the photos that u have to go to "Widget" then hold button to move to your home screen. That's how I figured it out after, all of my frustration.
Runs like an absolute dream on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 running Android 5.1.1 ok there is a slight delay from when you press the button to when the Hotspot actually turns on but I'm not bothered and nobody else should be this is amazing free app
After upgrading to Lolipop 5.0, it stopped working on the Galaxy Note 3. Too bad because it was a nice widget. Now it just disconnects my wifi but doesn't turn on tethering. But when it used to work, it was a great widget with a simple operation.
Can I turn this on and have it work on a phone that doesn't have service or internet , just an old phone, BC I wanna play online on my ps3 but I cant. Just wondering.
This is for a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. Used to work flawlessly; now pressing it on my home screen does nothing. To be fair, competing hotspot widgets I had used successfully also don't work now
Used to be... Beautifully designed widget to toggle the Hotspot on and off. No need to fumble through the settings, one click and you're up and running. UPDATE - No longer works on 5.0.1.- Galaxy Note 4.
5 stars because it's a 1*1 widget and works. It doesn't change color on my phone, but notification area shows change, so not a huge problem. Solved my problem of going to settings every time I wanted hot spot... Huge thanks..
Under Android 6.0, it turns tethering on, but not off. I contacted the developer and got no response.
This widget dosent seem to work on my nexus 5. Worked perfectly on my other phone though so I'm assuming it's just a little update that needs to be done.
For those who don't understand what this widget does, it turns on the WiFi Hotspot on/off from your home screen. Your phone must be able to activate WiFi Hotspot as this is just a shortcut to turn it on/off from your home screen.
Am a dumbass, my phone already comes with hotspot widget. Lolipop, that does work. Galaxy prime core.
I had this app for awhile and it worked great... until my phone updated. Now it does nothing. However if you aren't running 6.0 it's great.
Don't want to rate thus too low as it is a nice simple, useful design, but the on and off button is not functioning. It does indicate the state of on or off. (Nexus 6 running 5.1)
It will not show me to widgets and I don't know how to get widgets if I hold down on one of my home screens it just asks what wallpaper I would like it doesn't work
Can the Dev fix it to work with loli pop for the note edge
I guess it doesn't work on Marshmallow. It doesn't on my Xperia Z5 Compact anyway. Don't really hate it, it just didn't for me.
It didn't show up on my phone. I'm confused!
Didn't work on the Note 4 for me. Tapping on the widget did noting. After upgrading to Android 5 Lollipop, I decided to try this app again and now it works for me on the Note 4. I'm upgrading my rating from 1 star to 5. Thanks! April 2016: No longer works on my Note 4 after upgrade to android v6.0 (marshmallow)
Two improvements: 1. A 1x1 widget wound be nice 2. If the normal WiFi was on turn it back on when the hotspot is turned off.
Works great especially if you have an unlimited data plan t-mobile. For all of you who can't figure it out, it's a widget not an app. Yes it uses your phones data and I don't understand what you all are not understanding about the password, its just like any other secure wifi.
Works great on my gsm cricket samsung galaxy s5 sm-g900az running lolipop my only concern is the size of t he widget is big and it takes almost as long to activate as it does to long press and drag the widget I have accidentally moved it twice just glad to have tethering back since two updates ago it was removed from settings first time users should acess settings by first pushing the widget then go to notifications pull down
I had this widget on my note 4 before lollipop and it worked perfect..after lollipop stopped working..deleted for a few months till today and saw that 5.0 support was here..but still does nothing when clicked, color changes when i go into settings and turn it on so it is getting info saying wheather the hotspot is on or not but its not changing it like it used to..please fix!! I hate going through 4+ steps to do something that should be built into the notification bar right next to the bluetooth toggle..
I know my hotspot function works, but other than indicating the current on/off status, this widget did nothing.
Works over usb, wifi, Bluetooth out of the box. And I don't think there are any limits imposed by the app. Everything you could want in a hotspot app. You can stop messing with the other hotspot apps. Excellent. Remember, this is a widget not an app, so look for it in the right place after installing. What a sexy widget icon too. But it's slightly confusing. Does tapping toggle on/off for all modes or cycle through modes? Why not have the icon change to indicate WiFi/USB/bluetooth as well?
Did not work on my Samsung Galaxy 6. I could hear a clicking noise when I tap it but nothing turned on.
Okay I have a lg volt and the phone is a lte phone but all it showed was 3g but when I downloaded this my phone instantly connects to 4g lte I'm so happy
You have to have Verizon hot spot service for it to work. If I wanted to pay Verizon for their Hotspot why would I need this one. Uninstaller and total waste of time.
Works for my laptop but kinda slow . Can guys try to make it fast
Since a recent update made it so the widget turns WiFi back on when disabling the hotspot, it is perfect!
S4 CyanogenMod. Thanks guys! Finally one that works, right off, quick.
I was bored and couldn't sleep one night so I read through many of the reviews here. People are giving this widget a one star review when they have no clue as to what this is. Learn to read, and then read the description.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get my android to connect to my iPod touch generation 5 by an hotspot app?

When i read the widget had an update for lollipop i assumed that was including the LG brand phones from walmart, being as thats the programing they run. But once again no luck. If you dont go through a major carrier ie sprint, samsung, satin, etc... then keep going. For now. Hopefully someone will make one of these things for the common folk one day. No worries ill keep watch on you guys, your products are good just not for every brand.
