مصر في عهد الخديوي اسماعيل أرَّخ إلياس الأيوبي في كتاب «تاريخ مصر في عهد الخديوي إسماعيل» إلى السيرة الذاتية لهذا الخديوي والإنجازات التي حققها على مُخْتَلَفِ الأصعدة السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية، كما تناول كتاب « تاريخ مصر في عهد الخديوي إسماعيل » إلى السيرة الذاتية لهذا الخديوي البعثات التي أُرسلت في عهده؛ والتي أسفرت بدورها عن نهضة علمية شاملة، وَسَمَت مصرَ بطابع المدنية الحديثة، كما استطاع من خلال سياسته الرشيدة أن يمد جسورًا فكرية بين المصريين والغربيين؛ فجعل من مصر إمبراطوريةً عظمى تجمع بين الأصالة والمعاصرة وبين عظمة الشرقِ في مجده التليد، وبين الفكر الغربي القائم على دعائم النهضة الحديثة.
