7notes with mazec (Japanese) for Android
Never used 7Notes, but the Mazec IME is the best Japanese input I tested on Android.

If I had it to do all over again, I'd purchase the fantasic Mazec input as a stand-alone, and skip the 7-Notes app. 7-Notes isn't exciting, and is clunky for what little it does. The IME, on the other hand, IS exciting. Pair it with a good dictionary (e.g. AEDict) & Flashcard app (e.g. Flashcards Deluxe), and you've got an awesome Japanese study environment.

Have been looking for this forever. My phone is now a denshi-jisho - yay! Contrary to the video, set up is all in English , too. So you don't need to be a Japanese master to start using it with your dictionary software.
Great recognition capability. A much better way to practice your writing compared to key presses.
It used to work on my xperia Z, but now whenever I select the input method, the panel just went blank and I can't switch back to any other input method without having to go into settings and disable mazec. I hope this get addressed soon because all i heard from support is to restart, or do some trivial stuff that won't solve the problem.
combined strokes and semicursive are both readily recognized very well, the lookup function is also useful
Mazec is excellent at recognizing handwritten letters. It is coupled with accurate kana-kanji conversion which exceeded my expectation. The best part is that random mix of kana and kanji is converted correctly. This app saves me a lot of tapping on the screen as well as my frustration. Sorry Google for ditching their Japanese IME... As the other reviewer pointed out, you will need to practice a little. I found the online manual (in Japanese, not sure about the English version) is quite useful. For me, it is absolutely worth the price. Perfect companion to Galaxy Note. Highly recommended.
子文字でiの入力後にgが入力できない。
Simply the best kanji input and the only one. Plus is updated regularly. Turns your Android smartphone/tablet into a denshi jisho :) and thanks for knocking down the price!
Closest you will get to WinMo-style Japanese handwriting on Android. Compares favorably to non-IME Kanji Recognizer. This is fast (even on my first-gen Galaxy Tab on stock Gingerbread, 350MB RAM!) and accurate, also gets kanji/hiragana/katakana/English. The way it splits characters takes some getting used to if you write wider than you should, but it will help you get used to writing narrowly. Wish it had a kb hiragana mode, but this is still the best kanji handwriting IME available on Android, bar none.

I am studying Japanese, and as a begginer, when I try to read the news, lyrics, or games, I come across many kanji without ofurigana. With this software, I am able to draw any kanji! I use it for English input as well. It's very fast, responsive and cool.
The strongest feature that sold me was its Kanji hand recognition. You can draw the Kanji on the screen and it will recognize the characters
