About Le bonheur de lire

Le bonheur de lire offers a fun and compelling gameplay. Children explore a charming village where cute animals invite them to learn how to read French words. A visit to the store allows children to select the next word to play with. Exercises are chosen by artificial intelligence and adapted to the child’s specific needs. If the child wishes to learn specific words, they can be added in and recorded!

After completing a series of challenges summarized in a progress bar, the child receives a gold coin to buy a new word from the shop. It's also possible to improve the learning experience by directly accessing the exercises from the menu, or by clicking on the chest that stores all collected words to place emphasis on certain skills.

GAMEPLAY DESCRIPTION

WORDS I KNOW
This essential game features 3 different levels to help the child visualize and memorize new words.

THE SOUND OF LETTERS
The kangaroo invites the player to correctly identify the sound of the first letter of a word. With letter/sound associations, the child is able to start comparing words: “’maman’, is like ‘marelle’ "

SINGING LETTERS
A bird sings different vowels (a, e, i, o, u, é). First, the child drags a vowel to complete a list of words on the screen. This helps develop their understanding that a vowel always sounds the same no matter which word they’re in. After completing this task, the child touches pictures to hear words and drags the ones containing the correct vowel onto the wires.

THE COLLECTIONS
It’s time for the squirrel to play. There are three levels in this game in which children make letter/ sound associations. They play with sounds like "ou", "ette", and "an”.

WORD PUZZLES
Meet with the beaver at the sawmill and learn how cut words into syllables. Reassemble the pieces to restore the original words. The final puzzle requires the child to reassemble 2 words by choosing the correct syllables.

MATCHING LETTERS
The caterpillar and the butterfly ask players to test their knowledge by assembling vowels and consonants to form syllables. The audio instructions in this game help facilitate the process. This is the famous B+A = BA rule.

TRACING LETTERS
Reading and writing are intimately linked. Learning to trace letters helps children memorize and use them as they learn to read.

Le principe est bien mais il y a des bugs dans l'appli. C'est perturbant pour les enfants.

Recommend for children to start reading

The app fosters the development of early literacy skills mainly by means of sight words and phonics. It can be used as a tool to early reading for French speaking kids who just started or want to start practicing their reading skills. The app lets parents turn on/off the background music and/or the sound effects, and after signing up they can follow their kid's progress. On my device the voice over was of low quality, which may impede the learning experience and lower kids' interest to continue the game. Also, the First Sentences level seems too difficult for pre-schoolers, but could be used with lower primary students to reinforce their reading skills instead. The app allows you to type in and record your child's name but the microphone captures the background music instead so the child's name is not audible. Overall, a nice edu product but not a high flyer, thus overpriced.

Got this app for my nephews ages 2 and 3, first off the three year old noticed all the bright colors in the app, it is very colorful to keep the kids attention. It uses slow learning methods to actually keep the child interested and learning quickly, focuses on one word at a time or the kid can choose from different games and has many different levels to make well worth the cost! The 2 year old laughed at all the characters (their are many) this is a great learning tool and game to keep the children occupied!

The app doesn't seem to load fully. It closes itself after the seven academy bit. I have this app on the I pad and it is exellent. Please fix this issue? Or I would like a refund.

I downloaded this app for my 3 year old niece who is 1/4th French but doesn't know a single word of the language. I thought of teaching her a few words so that she could impress her grandma who'd be visiting us in a few days. Anyway, the app looked really beautiful on my Samsung Tab's HD display. It is really vivid, colorful and super lively. She really enjoyed using the app and I can tell you that cause after a few minutes she just snatched it from me and started using it herself. Her favorite was the singing letters module of the game. Also, I personally feel that this app is really helpful coz in spite of being an adult, I was so mesmerized by the app, that I learnt a bunch of words myself. All in all, I'd recommend this app to all parents and teachers who'd like to teach young kids the basics of the French language. Trust me, it's really helpful.
