About Aircraft Horizon

NOTICE: This app is heavily dependent on your devices available hardware sensors, version of the Android operating system and last but not least, your device vendors software. For this reason, the app can behave with different results on different devices.

Aircraft horizon is the most advanced artificial horizon on the marketplace.

It fuses data from your devices accelerometer, gyro and magnetometer sensors to provide you with accurate pitch and roll information depicted as a typical aircraft artificial horizon.

Features:
- Sensor fused, accurate pitch and roll via internal accelerometer, gyro and magnetometer sensors
- Linear acceleration compensated - it is accurate whilst moving (with appropriate sensors)
- Automatically selects the best available sensors to use from those available on your device
- Filtered, smoothed and reactive display - no jitter or jumping!
- 'Pitch level' levels the horizon to your installation
- Supports multiple screen resolutions
- Supports display in both portrait and landscape orientations

Usage:
Aircraft Horizon is very simple to use. Pitch and roll is dynamically shown when you move your device. Using the menu, you can pitch level based upon your installation, switch between portrait and landscape modes and toggle debug data on and off.

Cool, doesn't work on anything now! Did you guys put a time out, even on the paid version?

App appears to be using accelerometers rather than gyros. Displays level flight during coordinated turns. ....not a useful tool in a real airplane.

Q70%
by Q####:

Update - vibration while in flight seems to make the app unusable. I tried holding the smart phone in my hand isolate the vibration, and it still did not track the horizon in a useful fashion. Worked very well on the ground on my Note 4.

B70%
by B####:

Bought the app as promised to work with available sensors INCLUDING Gyro. Obviously not using the Galaxy S4 gyro or programming done wrong. Pretty interface but a waste of money and falsely promoted. I did fly this with my airplane to test.

Doesn't work in flight! Useless for me. Samsung S2

On a Samsung Galaxy it doesn't work in an airplane. I already knew which way the floor was. Quite nice for measuring angles on the ground.

Didn't work on the Razr but works great on my new LG G2. Even in the air!

Works great on my galaxy tablet, but won't work at all on my note with 4.2.1 :-(

I tried the free app and it seemed to be really good at home. So I bought the paid app and tried it in my airplane. Although it would work when I was just turning it outside the airplane, when I was flying with it installed on my panel it didn't show turns or pitch change at all. I uninstalled it.

When you have spatial disorientation, so will this program. Do not rely on it.

Z70%
by Z####:

I tried it in the helicopter. It seems to work well for initial roll into turn, but it adjusts to the 'new vertical' in line with the load factor too quickly. So during a rate one turn it will seem to think the aircraft's floor is now 'down' within only a few seconds. Use only as a toy.

Installed on my nexus 7 and it shows a bank to the left when you turn right in a car.. In an airplane it's totally useless........ It's a Parlor instrument........

Bought and tried the app on my Sony Xperia S. Looks good tilting it on the ground, but once in the air, the readings are totally false. I suppose it uses the accelerometers, and cannot distingwish an increased G-force from a turn, from one caused by the elevator. Totally usesless for me. Are there Android phones with gyros? Which? I will try it in my Nexus 7 also.

A70%
by A####:

Pitch and roll are affected by moving the phone around without pitching or rolling it so this doesn't work in a plane :-( it will kill you if you do! Samsung s3

U70%

It stopped functioning altogether. I uninstalled and reinstalled but alas to no avail. Pity, the graphics are impressive.

J70%
by J####:

It's a shame that some devices can't match the app's ability but as a backup, it's fine.

T70%
by T####:

Roll and pitch work fine on the ground. In the air pitch works fine but roll does not. I had to bank to a very extreme angle to get the roll to move. I fly an Ercoupe and all turns are coordinated. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

A70%
by A####:

Roll does not work in flight. If you would add a GPS to adjust the roll we could use it as an emergency backup. However, the roll problem could get a pilot killed. It has the best graphics I have seen yet.

K70%
by K####:

It works on the ground but when i tried using it in my aircraft in flight it didn't work.

X70%
by X####:

Flown with it in a Nexus 7. Pitch responds and is accurate but Roll almost completely unresponsive and quite useless. Waste of time.

I use this all the time in my aircraft when i fly, very useful and accurate too

The sooth movement is outstanding and realistic.

Hello, Very nice presentation, very fluid, I like it. However some false: in case of drift, the horizon tilts. under acceleration or deceleration, the horizon moves up or down. A small ball that would be great ;-). Nice work.
