Sense Home Energy Monitor for Android
Good quality hardware. Easy install and set up. Good graphic display. Very spotty device logging and no access to event log so device identification can be difficult.
Needs an update. Google pixel 2 xl is clipping the bottom of the screen that shows the power consumption when in landscape
Lot's of fun and very informative. Very easy and intuitive to use.Thank you for such a great app!
It's been a real help already and looking forward to it's new discoveries over time...
Very easy to install and gives an extremely accurate look at usage patterns. It takes awhile for the device learning to take place but out of the box it will monitor real-time usage so you can turn devices on and off to see the immediate usage with that. I'm looking forward to more integration with Alexa, IFTTT and other smart home devices. Great device!!
Finally works on my tablet as well
Saved my house -wife left an old iron on - twice!
Love it
Invaluable for solar monitoring. IMO, solar installers should start bundling Sense with new installations, instead of Nest. I've read a lot of "it doesn't recognize foo," and that's often the case in my home, too. Just bring honest, over the past 3 months that I've had Sense installed, it hasn't recognized over 50% of the devices we use every day. However, it has recognized the devices that make up over 70% of our electricity usage, and that has made an unbelievable difference in our usage habits, which is exactly what we wanted to see. Every month or so, a new category of devices seems to get recognized in a batch, so I'm confident the Sense army of robots are improving their recognition skills. There is still room for improvement, but I've been very pleased with the performance this far.
It's a great app. The only thing is the device detection is still so slow. I'm confident they'll keep improving, perhaps it's just still really early days.
Impressive device and technology. The app is really working well these days and additional functionality is being added at a good rate. It is easy to use and understand what is happening.
Would like to have the option to tell sense which devices are powered on and then have it decipher the load characteristics based on user input.
Learning is improving. Very cool app. Integration with controllers will make it killer.
App works well. I am hoping I get to see more devices soon
Great app to help the residential homeowner understand their electricity usage. It's always improving to be better every day.
Great app, but the device detection is not as fast as I expected.
Really cool device that is getting better every day
Love my Sense. Smart.
Great app
Great app & device. Still working out kinks, but tells me how much power I am using and the solar production. Sense learned several appliances right away, and took months to find others.
Real easy to use. wish they had an advanced UI with the ability for the community to help rapidly clear the growing backlog because your end users are quite savvy
I love the product! I'm also a geeky engineer. It's as entertaining for me as it is useful. Impressive technology.
Fascinating and well developed app. Helped me ID power consumption trends and save money.
Love it but there is an issue with the Solar Visualization from the last update. Please fix
Good app, but I wish it worked on tablets.
Great App for detailed electric usage on your home
Works great!!!
Really cool
There are issues with visualization with the solar option that need attention, especially color and stale data. Other than that, no surprises.
Love this device! I purchased this device knowing and willing to be an alpha tester perse. How far they've come is amazing! There are still improvements needed, but if they continue at the rate they have been then I see this being the best in the market and an absolute most for anyone who wants to know more about their energy consumption!
Awesome app, really well done! Kids love to look at all the visualizations and it gets them thinking about how what they use has a real impact on the world.
It's great to be able to see what's running in real-time as opposed to putting an amprobe on each circuit with the panel cover off. Great job!
Great tool
Thought I would share a recent experience pertaining to my Sense Monitor. I've had the unit for over a year and it has worked seamlessly. Last weekend hurricane Irma passed by our home the eye passed with 30 miles knocking the power out. When the power was lost I switched to our main standby generator. Shortly after which it failed so I was forced to switch to a smaller backup emergency generator. The Sense really came in handy at this point as the emergency backup generator was not large enough to power everything. However with the Sense in hand I was able to hook it up to the MAIN's from the emergency generator and re-balance the load to both legs of the smaller generator. This allowed me to run significantly more items on the smaller generator as I was able balance both 120V lines nearly perfectly. This intern allowed the generator to run at max output without popping the breaks on either output line. Thanks Sense Labs!, John
This app is great. I love the fact that I can tell how much electricity uses, each significant device in my house. How often the device is on and for how long. Now with the dollar sign associated with it, it is easy to tell where I can save some money, even though I thought I knew :), I am being surprised with some of the findings. Love it!
App gets better and better every update. Keep up the great work Sense team.
Found over 20 devices so far in the past few months. Larger lights, clothes dryer, refrigerators, GDO, sump pump, and AC to name a few. I'm notified when someone comes home/opens the garage door, or if the lights have been turned on, and even if someone opens the refrigerator - Sense has detected the light bulb that comes on when the door is open! This is peace of mind while on vacation also as certainly I will know if someone is in the house. I like tracking the AC usage and it is nice to know the sump pump is running at home while at work during a heavy rain storm. Sense has been worth the cost for these reasons and I recommend others to purchase one for their homes. I think there is vast possibilities with this equipment and Sense will continue to improve and impress me along the way. It takes time, even months to detect devices so keep this in mind. I get excited each time something new is found!
I recently installed my Sense unit this past weekend. The installation was fairly straight forward and very easy. Even though it says to use a qualified electrician, anyone with decent experience at electrical systems should be able to install the hardware. Granted only do this if local laws allow it. The app seems easy to use and after a couple days has detected 2 appliances. I'll wait to see how the app learns my electrical devices before giving 4 or 5 stars. So far so good! Would I recommend this hardware to a friend: Yes
Just installed and so far its been great. Can't give it 5 stars right out of the gate but I think it will be once I have some time logged with it. Won't let me install on my tablet (XOOM w/Android 4.4) for some reason even though by the requirements it needs 4.3 or better. On my Galaxy Note it would be nice to be able to use the stylus to drag and zoom but the app doesn't recognize the stylus when its out. Also would be nice to be able to use the larger display and hopefully there will be a web -based app coming soon for PCs. For those that want to see how it works there are a number of videos on YouTube that will show how to install, how the app works, etc. 3/25/17 Update: It's been over 5 weeks and Sense still can't find my clothes dryer and it's still not sure about the garage door opener which gets used twice a day. Sense has been VERY slow to ID devices. 4/28/17 latest update crashes my phone. Had to remove app to stop repeated reboots. 5/15/17 Installed latest update, no change. Sense still has no clue about most of my equipment. I wish they would add the ability for users to ID a device they just turned on, then Sense would have a starting point. Still can't ID the garage door or clothes dryer, still claims to be learning. 7/03/17 Still trying to learn the GDO that gets used twice a day at roughly the same times. Pathetic.

You have no idea what uses so much energy in your home. The oven uses more electricity than the plug in car. Sense has changed how we see energy use. With home solar we can use Sense to tailor our usage to actually profit. A must have for the 21st century home.
