Dosage Calc for Android
Dosage Calc is an initiative to assist in the avoidance of drug errors. To do this it provides the following range of calculators for the health care professional to double check his/her own calculations:
Volume of Liquid
IV Drop Rate
Number of Tablets
IV Volume Rate
Fluid Maintenance
Dosage Calc works when your mobile is in "Flight Mode" making it very unlikely to interfeer with any equipment.
The application is being offered free during the initial pilot.
Please note that it is not intended to be used as the primary source for drug calculations. If your calculations disagree with Dosage Calc, please consult another authority in order to resolve the issue.
Dosage Calc
Great when all IV infusion pumps are broken or missing in the Resus room. Good old fashioned drip counting saves the day.
But extremely slow and difficult to use... not good for paramedics. Also it needs mcg/kg body weight calculations
What kind of calculator doesn't have the ability to input a decimal point?
Rounds up or down will not calculate with decimals
Useless app. No decimal point. I can't calculate doses (strengths such as 0.5mg or 1.5g and 0.1ml )
Great for double checking pediatric doses.
Wonderful app it will always have a place on any device I use. It's a must have for nurse's.
Nice looking UI, handy.
Very helpful
This program works amazingly well. However, I have found that if I input an amount of fluid to infused over a period of time in minutes and do it again over the equivalent hours, the hours version is correct, the minutes version is incorrect, not by much, but it gives a different answer. For example, in the "IV Volume Rate" tab, 250 mL in 90 minutes = 166.3 mL/hour. Then change minutes to hours: 250 mL in 1.5 hours = 166.7 mL/Hr. Regardless of which method is used, the end result should equal 166.7 mL/hour for this amount of fluid over the same period of time. As it is, either way will get you in the ball park, but "hours" will provide the most accurate answer. It's a great app for nursing students, I've used it quite a bit to double-check my calculations. Other programs I've tried require you calculate rate by "Hour" and do not offer you to do the calculations by inputting "minutes." It's just a handy thing when you have an order for something to go in over 110 minutes and you can't figure that to be 1.83 hours... I would expect that to be kind of rare, but... it's possible! Overall, I'm *very* impressed with this calculator! Rounding does affect output to whole mg amounts.
Cant input dosages less than 1mg/kg on body weight calc. I.e pediatric dose for adenosine is 0.1mg/kg. App wont go below 1mg.
Great for simple calculations but wanting more
This is really good
I jst bought metronidazole 125mg/5ml suspension ..and i dnt know exactly the dosage coz its for my one year and 6months baby.. But now i find ds spp its really great..
There's not a . Decimal and I should be able to choose ml,g,mcl,l etc. Great idea but doesn't work.

Great app, however where's the decimal point . ?
How to enter decimal values like 0.3, 0.5 etc ??
Neat idea, and the calculator works, but what hospital doesn't use decimals? Add the decimal and you'll be in much better shape to get great ratings.
Thank you for this app. It helps.
Where is the freakin decimal? Really!
I'm a nursing student who need to take med math calculation every quarter, your app is a great tool for practicing and checking your calculations. Thank you for your thoughtful act, in creating this app. Job well done!! :-)
Its very useful mean to prevent the error during dose calculating very simple & accurate specially for nursing students!
"170714...kfr...thanks..."
They just keep me going.
Great in theory. Sadly it is not accurate, especially with lower body weights and lower doses.
But extremely slow and difficult to use... not good for paramedics. Also it needs mcg/kg body weight calculations
Thanks for making this app I m currently enroll in Paramedic program and made my drug calculation go very smooth. I will suggest this app to all my class mate .
Very handy when I need to calculate meds.
Couldnt even accept the disclaimer and therefore couldnt use the app. Uninstall
