About 2nd Vote

The 2nd Vote app is a consumer tool that helps you "vote" with your shopping dollars. It reveals both the companies that fund the conservative causes we support, and the liberal causes we oppose, on an issue by issue basis. This app is useful whether you are conservative on one issue or every issue.

Features:

- Companies are scored based on their direct or indirect financial support of liberal or conservative causes.
- Provides background information to support scores.
- "Vote" to support or not support a company.
- See how other users are "voting".

New scores are added weekly.

The interface is cumbersome and counterintuitive. There are also many companies that have very low ratings because they were rated on a single issue, while others with similar views on that one issue have much higher ratings because they are rated on 5 or 6 issues. Ratings are inconsistent and many appear to be based on a lack of research. This app could be very useful, but as it stands is simply mediocre.

Shows first five or last five companies (alphabetically). You have to visit the website to view the others. Great org, terrible app.

Old app worked fine. Can't get this update to work. Keeps saying no connection!

Y70%
by Y####:

The concept is awesome and for the companies they rate, the information is VERY useful. However, there are a lot of little issues it has with usability , all of which I've submitted to them through their website with no attempt to respond so much as an automated "thank you for contacting us". Some companies that previously had a score just drop off as if they've never been scored, rather than just being updated with a notice that the score is outdated for us to decide if it's a place we want to spend money at. That seems shady, like they were bribed to remove the score. Not saying they were, but perception is powerful in an age we can't trust those providing us info. Next, the search feature just stops searching when there are no results without any indication. No "no results found" or anything. Once you figure out that nothing at all means no results, it's ok, but there could certainly be programmed better.

I like this app. Now I wish we had one similar for all the Hollywood snowflakes so we can be advised and advert from paying to see their movies or concerts.

Y70%
by Y####:

Because of this app, I have discovered many wonderful conservative oriented businesses. I love it!

Y70%
by Y####:

Scores Amazon 1.9. That's close enough. Chase 1.7! They gave half a billion to SPLC!

P70%
by P####:

I cannot scroll through the companies. The concept is good but the app is flawed.

Y70%

Can't scroll

GOOD for facts.

Would give 5 stars if you add a share button to each article so I can tweet & text the article to my friends.

Y70%
by Y####:

This is a GREAT idea, but the app simply does not work.

M70%
by M####:

It rates companies that are environmentally friendly negatively, companies that partner with companies such as red cross which do many good things all over the world are rated negatively because of the red cross' association with some areas of abortion.

Thank you 2nd Vote!

Can't scroll thru companies when results are populated. Accuracy from 2013 - Ex: Starbucks. The app gives them a 7 in 2nd Amendment. Really? In a well publicized open letter a few months ago the Starbucks CEO threw the concealed and open carry folks under the bus. That makes me wonder how accurate the numbers are here.

Y70%
by Y####:

Pointless unless you can actually scroll through the lists. Search doesn't work either. I seem to recall this app did actually function in the past.

G70%
by G####:

The scrolling issue needs to be addressed asap. That lack of functionality really cripples any intuitiveness the app might have had.

Y70%
by Y####:

Individual search is great but can't scroll through companies in any category like you could in the older versions, which is very annoying!

Y70%
by Y####:

Great for finding liberal businesses. Just shop the #1s!!! Thanks conservatives for doing the research for me. You're good for something.

Y70%
by Y####:

It would be much better if they would work out the kinks so it would scroll!

T70%
by T####:

Would give 5 stars if you add a share button to each article so I can tweet & text the article to my friends.

Y70%
by Y####:

This is a GREAT idea, but the app simply does not work.

X70%
by X####:

Doesn't work very well. Can't scroll down through company listings in any of the categories.

Y70%
by Y####:

If I pick a company in the list and go back, it always has scrolled back to the top. List must be scrolled slowly through. Search is slow and unsorted. Again, good premise, but the app needs serious refining.

Y70%
by Y####:

Love this app! It allows me to spend my money according to my values. The one addition I would like to see is the name and address of the company's CEO. This would enable us to easily write to the company and tell them why we either avoid shopping there or go out of our way to shop there. Voting with our dollars would be more effective if we notified the company. And unfortunately I don't have enough time to do all the research, when the information is often buried somewhere in the company's website.

Y70%

Excellent for understanding which companies support each issue.

Developers - great app, but I have a spinning wheel - trying to load without results - for the last week. Attempted to reload and same thing

Thanks guys for this intuitive tool. I can foresee this App becoming a very powerful resource for the good we seek in our investments with businesses. I do have a question for you. Can you create a link to the Alternative choices that would show where that particular business has locations? For example, if I click on the alternative business, I would see a list of locations or only show alternatives based on my location. Just a thought!

App won't load, i see alot of this in reviews? How about a fix!

Y70%

Some issues are much more important to me than others. I want to be able to give more weight to those issues in the scoring.

Y70%
