About Screen Dimmer

Screen Dimmer enable you to lower the brightness of your phone or tablet more than what you can do by default in order to avoid headache and eye pain in a dark environment or at night. If you own an Amoled screen, this app will even save your battery because black pixels actually turn off on an Amoled screen. It is also scientifically proven that blue radiations can cause insomnia, preserve your sleep by changing the filter's color to red or brown! (pro version only)
Its design is simple and appreciable, you can't dislike it!

Great notification : click on the brightness icon to stop Screen Dimmer or click on the progress bar to change the filter's opacity.

Functions:
- Variable opacity.
- Display a notification or not when Screen Dimmer is on.

PLZ READ Screen Dimmer is a very useful app although it affects system app: U might encounter a problem of unable to install any app from outside. The CANCEL will work but INSTALL wont. It is due to Screen Dimmer. Simply close Screen Dim to install app. If still it doesnt work clear data and cache of Package Installer n similiar. Then reboot. Mark it helpful to save many haird :p Also a suggestion. Could you Add a pause button rather then a close?

I absolutely love this dimmer it's simple never had a problem or glitch & I now love using my phone in the dark.. with this app. I can now look without my eyes hurting! I absolutely love the pro version it offers a few cool things like.. Automatic start/stop with sunset/sunrise or set your own times, the option to pick the color of the filter & widget. I could go on but I'll stop there lol. Thank you for a great dimmer app. Definitely 6 stars.

This works as intended. If i were to change anything I would include an option to manually type in the filter opacity for a more precise adjustment. Also idk if it can be fixed by you guys or not but when "show touches" is enabled in developer settings the dot stays at an extremely high brightness same with notifications. Really great otherwise. 5 stars from me if those things can be fixed.

This app works fine with very minimum brightness, but it doesn't takes effect for full display. I'm using moto g 2nd gen. In this, in the bottom there are three software buttons for back , home in/out, and recent tabs. This app doesn't dim these three buttons . it works like as if a thin layer of black cloth is stitched on the display. Fix that n it will b WORTH 500 stars.

My Samsung Galaxy S4 screen is way too bright even on the lowest factory brightness setting - especially when trying to use the phone @ night. This app allows the screen to be "dimmed" even further, allowing much more comfortable use @ night. Doesn't affect navigation buttons but that doesn't bother me. Loses a star as brightness control in pull down is coarser than I would like - jumps 10% with each tap. 5% would be better.

I don't usually take the time to rate apps, but I love this one! I needed a dimmer for my super sensitive eyes at night, since the phone's automatic brightness filter just doesn't cut it. I've tried several other screen dimmers, which all worked. However, this is the only one that would automatically dim on a schedule without having to pay extra. It works beautifully. It's also extremely convenient being able to change the opacity from the notification bar.

Have used this app for a number of years when phones'screens can't get dark enough to make nightime YouTube comfortable, just bought the pro version upon seeing an option for widget color (really not a fan of blue) and am disappointed to see the slider doesn't change with it... Any chance of a fix? Also just noticed that on my Z3 not only does it not dim on screen buttons it actually increases the brightness of the bar they are in, downgrading to 2*

I have used this many times to avoid being caught by my parents when i want to talk to my girlfriend and play games. It hasn't failed me yet and i will continue to use it. Just overall a great app, i would recommend to anyone who uses their device at nighy

I love this app because of the quick, no nonsense 1x1 widget used to activate dimming. Problem is that sometimes my screen automagically dims at 10:00PM even though I don't use the schedule option within settings (the times are even grayed out). Its happened two nights in a row while watching YouTube. Both times the video paused when the screen dimmed. Spooky.

For months I've been settling with a screen where the dimmest setting is bright as hell. (Seriously samsung, wth?) Anyway it's a fast download and easy to use, the higher % the filter the darker the screen gets. I however have One Problem: when I'm setting the dimmer, the interface is very dark. So I'll darken the screen until I can see comfortably, then go to a preferred app and everything is much brighter, which is not comfortable. I understand why but it should be a lighter gray in my opinion.

I've been using Screen Filter by Haxor for YEARS, but I tried this app on a whim and like it. I like the Scheduler, the slider for adjusting, and the other extra options even on the free version. I would love to see some way to control the levels without having to launch the app; preferably as a slider in the taskbar/notification tray.

When applying the screen filter, pure black pixels gain the color of the filter, thus increasing the brightness of those pixels. Perhaps implementing an alpha transparency setting would help. Additionally, changing the widget color only colors the sunburst icon, and not the filter bar of the widget - it feels awkward to have an orange sunburst, but a default-blue filter bar

Love the app as it is. Currently using the free version but considering going pro. Also, a suggestion: look into adding a pro setting which added a button [to turn Screen Dimmer mode on/off] to the status bar's system UI [Android nougat only] so Screen Dimmer can be turned on/off from anywhere on the phone without leaving any current app that's open. If something like this was added, I can guarantee my brother and I would purchase the pro version!

Well, this is a great app... No doubt's. But, I noticed something. The screen on my nexus 5 keeps flickering sometimes. Can't Install Apk When Screen Dimmer Is On... And Where Is The Widget In Android L 5.1???. Other than this, its a great app. Keep going. Fix that and yeah I'll give you full 5!

But it doesn't dim the soft keys on my Nexus 6p, so if I set the brightness very low for use in a dark room the home keys and such are still bright. This is only a problem in apps that don't run in full screen such as Chrome. Video apps go full screen which hides the soft buttons so it's not an issue in those cases.

by S####:

It works well. Careful, the setting that turns off button back light is on by default. Since the app can turn the back light on and off, I wish the developer would dim them by strobing them faster than the eye's persistance of vision to achieve a dimming effect. Alternately an on screen kindle fire style home, menu, & search button could be implemented so as not to loose the functionality of the buttons.

If anyone dont like it then your just complaining for no reason then. I love it && I love that it goes under 20% most other ones don't. Its one of my favorite apps to use especially when i have a headache and at night when i want darkness it will always be kept on every phone I have or get. Thanks for making it.

I had this app on my old phone and I've always appreciated it. It's really a great app and perfect for whatever you need. However, after downloading it on my new phone (HTC Desire 816, which has on screen buttons) I encountered a couple problems. The on screen buttons aren't dimmed by the app. Also, the dimmer seems to be turned off when I go to my lock screen or into my camera and doesn't turn back on even when I exit. These are my only complaints for an otherwise 5 star app.

As a migraine sufferer I have huge problems with backlighting being too bright even during the day. This app is wonderful and allows me to use my phone in complete darkness with little to no problems. I personally would like to see the ability to make it darker and with a greater range at the darker end, I use mine at night at 85-95% and the jump from too bright to too dark in this range is hard to adjust. ***Needs to have round the clock on/off option to avoid randomly turning on. Blinding in pitch dark!

I've had this app for a long time and it just recently stopped working. It goes on and off randomly when I try to use it and there's nothing worse than browsing the internet at night and all of sudden having your phone try to blind you. It sucks cause I really loved this app

Great app except putting a colour filter on just adds that colour e.g. green filter makes black look green! Black should be black and white should be green???. It makes the display brighter! On amoled it looks terrible in anything except black. Good old in app purchases so I cant rate your paid version different and no refunds.

I've had this app for I don't even know how long and I never thought to leave a review. It's so useful, it's a one click widget. So simple. Never fails me. I keep it on my home screen. I've been taking advantage of it without even thinking about it or acknowledging how much it helps me. So I just thought to give my appreciation. I love it!

The idea of this app is great, dimming the screen for a car ride or before you call asleep. The problem is that the software buttons aren't dimmed. This somewhat takes away from the usefulness of the app. If a feature for dimming these buttons can be made this app will be a perfect 5 stars.

H70%
by H####:

The app is excellent. There are some minor flaws, but the most disturbing one that I found was that sometimes the app will stop working for some seconds, then reactivate again on its own. Its like having a disco tablet, going from dim to uber bright and dim again. Other than that, the interface and the app itself are great.

The lowest setting on my SGS2 was still way too bright for use in the dark, this helps tremendously with that. I tried two other ones but this is the only one with a timer and adjustable settings through the drop down menu.

The fantastic app! Is there a way you can ask permission from the user that we trust this app so I don't have to turn this off and on again just to install? If you figure it out, put it in pro version and let me know!

Google galaxy nexus cyanogenmod rooted phone, KitKat 4.4.4 Stable: otherwise works great for dimming OLED pixels for phone use at night, which is nice on the eyes and battery use. Restarting app consumes 50% of total battery use though, so that's where it doesn't work for me. One suggestion is that it's easy to accidentally set the screen dark in a bright environment, rendering the phone useless until I find a dark place and wait for my eyes to adjust to the dark before correcting: needs a fail safe mode.

This app is clearly superior to other apps. Its simple, easy, reliable, flexible, and everything I need in a dimming app. Unlike the app itself, it has a bright future. It doesn't have any commercials or ads whatsoever, a small app. Moreover it doesn't have any annoying and unnecessary updates unlike other apps. oh its free too

This app works really well to dim most of the screen of my Nexus 5, but it doesn't affect the buttons at the bottom of the screen and that area is left bright. Would be 5 stars if you could find a way to dim the button area.

one problem which is i can't install apk files from my sd card while screen dimmer is on ple fix it. It's really annoying i hav to turn the app off and then install and btw i hav used lux which allows to install apps while it is on

This has become so annoying. I've had the app for over a year and it was great, but now it notifies me every 5 minutes to ask if I want to dim my screen. It's a popup notification. So annoying. I'll be uninstalling.

The only screen dimmer that works! I have tired many other screen dimmers and blue light apps but they randomly turn off every 10 minutes or so and blind me,just as I would get use to the dark screen they would do it again. This is the only dimmer that I have found that truly works!

-doesnt dim soft button keys at all -doesnt automatically work on phone reboot. -its nice that it goes below 20% light though...thats why i ll keep it.

I'll give it a 5 star if it gets a better Tasker integration and you correct this 'bug': using Google Now Launcher (on Paranoid Android) with the transparent navbar, the background of the navbar isn't dimmed by the app. (I'm not talking about the buttons)

Works great! I'm using the 4x1 widget, very handy. Was always annoyed that minimum brightness, whether on Auto or manually set, was still REALLY bright at night or indoors and more than is needed when just checking the time or for notifications. I have an S4, which has an AMOLED screen so apparently this may save battery power too, but it's too early to say this yet.

This app is helping me very much by dimming the brightness which was needed for my eyes. My mobile lowest brightness was even uncomfortable for me. Thanks a lot
