Seagate Media™ app

Avoid at all costs. The most useless cloud hdd ever. 4 months of use and not one successful backup. Tried on 4 different computers and 3 new phones.Had it professionally installed but never works. Anything would be better than this , majority of feedback and reviews support my assessment. Seagate i would like a refund please..

It seems to work fine on my mobile & tablet but not attempted to use away from home yet so can't comment on distance communication. My only negative experience so far is that it fails to find 1 or 2 videos that are on the Personal Cloud & for some reason, holds and maintains old file names that have been amended on the cloud, even after cache cleaned & even after app uninstalled then reinstated. On the laptop, the filenames are correct. Other than that, I'm happy with the app. Update: Following advice from Seagate, my files now as should be. Thanks for the help & advice.

NOT FOR SAMSUNG S8+. This app always crashes when watching video from the Seagate hard drive. Better to download video and the view. It world be very convenient if the app did not crash with Samsung S7 S8 S8+ and other pda device. This app will require the restart of device once one video is very difficult to view. The Wi-Fi signal is degrading.

I regret buying this Seagate device because it is almost impossible to access private data. And it seems from the comments that there is no ability to access private files with this app whatsoever. I bought this device be able to store password protected files. Rubbish.

I purchased the Seagate 4TB NAS as a replacement to my WD EX2. Apparently the reviews were good and all. However I'm facing the issue by using this Mobile app. I don't see any folder expect the PUBLIC folder. No matter in connect with WiFi or Cell data, I only see Public folder. What's the point of the mobile app then.

Pretty useless sadly. Cheaply made and poorly laid out app. Searching for content is not intuitive and app does not seem to follow material design at all past the basics. Considering they're in the storage business, they don't make it very easy to organise and access your stuff. Photos won't even display, only the file names. Viewing the photos just gives me a blank screen. Failed at the first hurdle. Shame.

Had high expectations of this device, bought it 6 hrs ago and I want to return it! Operating it off a brand new Samsung S8+ The Android application is flimsy, when I want to setup the Dropbox and drive account it keeps asking me to update the devices firmware, I installed the app off Google play 10 minute prior! If I access the device via the ip address directly setting up the Dropbox authentication isn't a problem. I have to say Seagate this product lacks well behind WD in regards to slick user interface, not impressed!

It does not work. Ive installed the app on my phone and tablet neither work. It wont connect via the add but it connects through my settings.. seems to b a waste of time energy and money so far..

Everything works fine except MX Player is no longer supported. If I want to steam a movie from my personal cloud I have to enable this app's default player. This never used to be an issue. Please re-enable MX Player support. Edit: I still can't use MX Player. I'm at my mother in law's house and can't stream I'm videos. I can if I use the default player, which I don't want to do because my content has dual audio and I can't change it.

Simply will not connect to my personal cloud, the device appears in the list of available devices but when you try and connect either on the local network or remote it says personal media server is unreachable. Despite the latest firmware being installed on the device.

App connected to cloud storage flawlessly and casted to my tv without a problem. Only reason for 3 stars is the lack of controls while casting. You can't pause, fast forward rewind or stop without killing the cast completely. Add those functions and it would be a 5 for me.

Pointless as after wasting several hours I finally read that it does not access my data folder. It only access the Public folder on the NAS, which I dont use as anyone who connects to my lan can see that. Disappointing, and returning the device.

ONE file at a time. It's impossible to even select a single folder, much less multiple folders. You have no control over selecting checkbox ALL folders OR files. Incompatible with Samsung android devices. It's a failure.

Works great for streaming and downloading/uploading from/to Seagate NAS. There does seem to be a delay between uploading files and being able to access them across all devices though. Wish it would sync faster.

This app works just fine. It would be better if it integrated with Google Photos for uploading, or if it allowed for drag-to-select multiple items at a time.

Pretty useless, as you can only access the open publicly available directory on your "personal" drive. What is the point of having secured cloud storage if you can only access the secured portion of the drive at home??

Frustrating. Can't even get it started. Even as I'm connected to internet it tells me I'm not. Then there's no access to personal folders. Not intuitive. And online support not much help also. I'm gonna dump it!

The seagate apps are really weak. No effort put in at all. Barely functional. Buggy and fail all the time. The help section is a joke. And now for cloud sync it asks me to upgrade the storage device's firware to latest in order to use the feature. My storage device has been on latest firmware for years.

I dislike the app because the app will not automatically backup my photo even though I have enabled in the app. Same case happened to my iPhone 7plus

Nice app..but it doesnt show option to upload from my seagate goflex hard disk, nor can i manage my hard disk through thr app like moving files, deleting files etc...so i can only use it to download content...

Disconnected after 5 minute. Even a wifi connect and battery monitor off on this app.

It doesnt stream,the app is poorly made,a terrible mess....Seagate never again.I usualy only buy WD products and there is a resin why....never again you will see a cent of my pockets.Just a question,your products still have Seagate drive or are you pushing still those horrible Samsung drives into Seagate boxes?!?!

Please revert back to previous version. Update has has rendered communication with tue NAS impossible, so nothing gets backed up at all now. Latest firmware on NAS and everything else can connect to the NAS, even other file managers on the phone.

The app has served me well for couple years now but the current version has a bug. I'm not able to click on the search function, be it for movies or music...

I have used this app for a number of years, following a recent update I can no longer get wireless access to my HDD. You have ruined what was once a great app that allowed me to travel and work without a laptop. Please revert back to something that works.

At this moment I would NOT recommend this app, because it no langer works on my android Phone. I have all the latest updates on Personal Cloud and Phone but since some weeks I can not make any contact with te Personal Cloud Mediaserver. As if it didn't exist! Although I CAN make contact with it on mij PC. Please fix this bug.

Avoid seagate products at all cost. Can access private folder on laptop but on mobile devices, it keeps redirecting to a web browser. Nothing works on my S7 and my iPad. Will never ever buy any Seagate BS anymore

I cannot get any sound from the video, is there a way to fix this?

Ever since I did the firmware update the app can't connect to the NAS. Worked without fault before. Very dissatisfied. For God's sake please either sort this or let us revert back to previous version !!!!! NAS is on latest firmware before you even ask. Beyond a joke now !

Latest version has stopped my android phone and android tablet communicating with the NAS. PC can communicate. Phone and tablet have worked previously.

Crashed many times and some times media didn't work until reconfigure the application again

It's ok! Subtitle support missing. Limited video formats supported for streaming (.mp4 yes, .avi isn't) Ok. Fale subtitlovi. Podrzava za streaming samo mp4....

Tricky to setup but works well once going

It's an ok app but would be a lot better if you could access private folders. There seems to be no way to do so. Even Kodi can access private folders if you put in the SMB access path along with the login info. But I need this app to do so as well to access private files remotely from outside the home network. No idea why Seagate would omit such an important feature. EDIT: While I do appreciate that Seagate replied to my comment, the solution they responded with is not the solution I want. I do not want to make the folder publicly accessible even if they are connected to my home network. What I need is an option within the app to login with my personal username to access the private folder only with that login.

I had limited success with this a couple years ago. Set all up fresh again in hopes of smooth operation- No such luck. Circle of death spins forever, literally, before it will think about accessing songs on my hard drive... Which I might add was the whole reason for buying Seagate to begin with. Disappointed.

To be honest with you, this app needs to support all video formats. I of to be converting movies to mp4. That's a waste of time. What if I get a vob, mvk, avi, flv , you name it. I should be able to view any type of movie being the fact that I am able to stream from the hard drive wirelessly. Great app but please improve.
