Ventura County Star for Android
I can find older articles on line but it's a pain to have to log in to read them. As a subscriber I should be able to search through the ap.
Videos start automatically instead of going to start page as before. If I want a video I'll ask for a video. Not good.
I wanted to do research away from a pc and there is no search feature which is a big dissapointment that greatly limits the usefulness for me.
Just like USA Today app wich I already have, so I guess I don't need this one. I'll look for local news somewhere else
Boo,now I know why law enforcement calls you guys the 'Red' star! 1 sided liberal numbskulls, app-delete
This new version does not send out breaking news updates. I am a subscriber to the VC Star and still nothing.
I contacted the Star about the search function and they said to log in to their website via my browser. Defeats the usefulness having an app. I'll save the space in my phone and uninstall.
I just updated this and when I opened it I thought I opened the USA Today app. Except for the title, it's exactly the same.
I liked the old app better. Push notifications don't work.
I can't see weather for Thousand Oaks. Pages load very slowly. When I get a news notification and click to read it, it doesn't take me directly to the story and sometimes I can't even find the story.
This App BLOWS!! They only give you like 4 articles you can read a month without being a subscriber to the Newspaper!! So basically unless you get their newspaper don't bother downloading this app because you aren't allowed to read anything anyway!! WORTHLESS!!
Requires log in, sometimes won't log in. Important stories arrive but can't view. Here we thought vc star was a good news company boy were we wrong! Switching to something more reliable.
Tells me I must be a subscriber and to log in. I click the login button and it clearly shows I am logged in as...... so I log out and log back in. Guess what!?!? informs me I need be a subscriber WTH?!?
Crashes
Awesome!
Article link sending options are arbitrarily limited to a few set apps. I don't see how that is beneficial.
Every time I get a notification from the app I go to look at the article and it will not refresh unless I logout of my account since I am a subscriber! So annoying what is the point of having the app if I can't read the articles? Fix please asap
Android app - Tried uninstalling it and re-installing the app 3 times, but it won't open. Apple app - runs a little slow, but gets the job done.
Using 5.0 and does not work.
Opens, then crashes...

Ventura Co.
?great
Ventura star application
Stopped working
As of the last couple of days the app won't work at all. It just sits there. No stories, just blank.
Continually opens browser windows. I can never read the headlines, much less the articles. Stick to the mobile site or use another app.
Used this app sporadically but it is now useless due to the outrageous cost of a digital subscription.
Everything worked fine until they added subscriber login required. Now nothing but pop ups and can't read using the app. I wonder if the programmers test the app or read these comments.
Have to he a subscriber to read more than the first paragraph... And the new interface looks surprisingly cheap and quickly put together on my galaxy S3
not only do they charge as much for online news, which they steal from the AP, as actual printed papers, the app constantly opens internet windows. im done. goto vcreporter or ventura breeze for free ventura news.
I really like this app I find out the need sooner.A+
Will not log on. Worst looking of the 6 news apps I have. Really poor app.
Good app!!
Won't allow me to update. Says package is not valid...
Great way to stay posted and updated in the community. I read it every day :)
Lived their all my life now in ks I can still rrad the local paper
Great start!
Needs a way to see the weather for a city other than Ventura. I also agree that the 'local news' section needs work. It's very annoying to have to select the city every time you 'go back' from reading a story. The app should remember what city you were browsing.

Decent app, but I wish it could be read more like a newspaper. I read books like they are printed all the time. Why not a paper?
