About RootBeer Sample

In a nutshell when an Android device is rooted the system security and safeguards cannot be guaranteed. That's why we created RootBeer an open source root checking library for app developers to help verifying the integrity of the device.

However the RootBeer library by no means perfect it gives an indication of root and what you do with the information is up to you. Of course no root detection code can ever been 100% effective as when the user is root they are basically god on the device.

The project is hosted on github - https://github.com/scottyab/rootbeer/

Its a good App. For starters MOST of the other root detection apps out there just told me that my phone was NOT rooted, and I believed them. However, each time I tried to enroll in Airwatch, it would be detected as a rooted device. Had no idea what was causing this to be detected as root (btw its running a custom ROM) RootBeer Sample App gave me two reasons - Busybox Binary - DangerousProps. Other Apps were not able to detect these and simply said the phone was not rooted (Airwatch was smarter than them all i guess) So I now have busybox uniinstalled (using a script I found on XDA called BusyBoxUninstaller). However I have no idea what the DangerousProps are. Reserving the last star for the missing info on DangerousProps.. Otherwise this is one of the BEST root detection Apps out there.

Well it is a well designed app, I wish it could give better feedback in app like why one of the things failed, like what dangerous props or what SElinux flags are the issue so that the user may try to correct the problems. Besides that this is alright app.

It's good to know what certain apps are looking for when they try to detect root.
