Scoot for Android
Life-changing approach to transportation in a city.
Easy to use, lots of improvements
Good service; but app is buggy
Nice
Lots of usability issues. Asking the user to enable location permissions by viewing app info and toggling is unfortunate. There is no onboarding experience to explain the various toggles on the map nor within the Help section. Having to select a button to return to the map rather than allowing the user to tap the device back button is annoying. How do I know a given garage has no available scoots without having to select it? Overall, frustrating but an "ok" first attempt at an Android app.
UPDATE! So many improvements! Love the updates! Never crashes now. Also love the map and that it now shows how long it would take me to walk to the Scoot reservation. I also like that I can reserve for an early morning Scoot. Helpful! Endless reloading & crashing. When working superb!
This app really needs a way to make sure you don't forget you have a scoot reserved. A simple 30 min reminder after inactivity would do. Tired of overpaying.
Much better now that there are so many scoots around! The app is super buggy though, it's pretty annoying, but the service is still worth it. Also, when are the scoots going to get USB-C chargers? Using the scoots kills my phone now.
the Android app has so many flows/wrong design principles and implementation. I don't even know where to start, surely not trusting it with my CC info. Hire an eng team?
RUN - do not walk - as fast as you can from this app, and take notice of all the other recent 1-star reviews here. The app simply never even ran for me on a standard Motorola Droid 2. Their non-existent customer service didn't get back to me after I contacted them multiple times, and then blamed the problem on me with a bogus excuse. VERY IMPORTANT: When you register, you must realize that you are 100% responsible for any damage to your scoot (in their sole opinion) no matter how it happens, even if it's not your fault. Read the other reviews here of the sad folks that didn't realize this. ALSO IMPORTANT: If you know about motorcycle helmet sizing, think twice about whether you want to trust your brain to one of two generic sized helmets used by everyone else.
Love scoot. Been riding as a courier for half a year now. The discount is super affordable. Really convenient garages all over the city. No motorcycle license necessary. No insurance. No gas. No brakes. No loan payments. Just make sure you park in an approved place and it's good.
The app has had major improvements lately. There are still a few things that would make it better. but at least it's usable and pretty stable now. 4 stars for the app. 5 for the scoot service.
Scooting is a lot of fun, but the app used to be lacking. However, the app was refreshed a few months ago and the experience now is better than ever. Recommended!
No commitment, low price, faster than a car in stuck traffic and no emissions. Best app ever.
Scoot has always offered a phenomenal service and I am glad that they seem to be prioritizing the Android experience lately!
Love it as if now
Awsome
A year after I left my first review, the app has gone from bad to unusable. I definitely won't be relying on a transportation service with an unreliable app. Good concept. Decent service at non-peak hours. Availability in downtown SF during commute hours is pretty poor. I've never been able to get a scoot near South Beach/Embarcadero between 6-7pm. The app itself is terrible. It's laggy, ugly and buggy. It forces you to go through various 'warm welcome' screens every time you start it. There are a ton of location-based apps like Uber etc - follow their design principles rather than trying to re-invent the wheel.
For the first time I couldn't register because of "wrong billing address". Never had it in the past
App takes forever to even load, gave up signing up
App is so buggy it's unusable.
The concept is awesome, once you start riding you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. The problem: outrageous fees and repairs that are taken from your bank account without warning or explaination. If you are the unlucky person to get a bike with say a minor , not even noticeable issue with the hand brake, if they decide to fix it after you ride, you are paying for handbrake maintenance, only you'll only find out when 120 bucks you thought you had disappears. They even charged me twice for it.
Scoot Rocks!!! I absolutely love Scoot. It gives me the freedom to get around the city quickly (splitting lanes through bumper-to-bumper traffic) and gives me independence with my commuting needs. Public transit in SF can be smelly, dirty, loud and more frequently full of angry and/or miserable commuters. I love the autonomy that Scoot offers me. They are constantly finding new ways to provide better service and to listen to their riders needs and find solutions. The staff is always super nice and understanding. And the Scoots are electric!!! Hello, no brainer!
Prices are fair, good discounts for couriers. Scoots are well maintained. ALWAYS someone LOCAL available in customer service to resolve pretty much any issue any time---call answered in 1 to 2 minutes tops. Located all over the city for easy access and swaps if needed. "Classic" Scoots accommodate average person nicely. At 6'5", 200 lbs, I tend to use newer, larger models. Average battery life seems to be around 2 hours (20 miles). FIX THE APP!
App crashes and sucks up battery. Very buggy
Great service, horrible app and web experience
I loved the service, truly. I was a prolific customer and advocate but Scoot just burned me. They are trying to charge me $184 for damage incurred during an incident after already informing me the case was closed, there wasn't damage beyond minor scratches and I would not be charged! I am most displeased and will not be using the service again :(
The scoot system is awesome. The latest update improved Scoot experience enormously. Way less glitchy, way faster
Scoot is awesome, love the service. I haven't noticed the app being as buggy as others have. The only thing that annoys me about the app is that it sometimes sucessfully keeps the screen on as you ride, but most of the time fails to do so.
Great idea and well executed, but the ux of the app and especially the map could be improved. Integrating would b great
Scoot is genius. Things I'd love to see as a user- ability to filter map for just free scoor rides or scoot type, ability to write a note about the scoot when finishing the trip (i.e. someone left headphones in the trunk). Also, there is inconsistent promo messaging. Some marketing says $2 a ride. Others say $3. Referring a friend says 2 hours free and then it only gives me $6 credit. Just want to make sure the offering is consistent from the app to emails to Google search to street marketing.
Bugs: 1 shutting off my scoot at a red light because I'm not moving. 2 no quick way to find myself or my scoot on the map. Two of us recently spent a day evaluating scoot. The scooters themselves are awesome and fun. But I think the company is having growth issues. Closing and reopening the app had to be done some 50 times on Android and iOS. We also had to call customer service 3 times. Great potential here especially if they keep the price low and get things operating a little more smoothly.
App is very buggy. The app won't load on my phone whenever I need it. Very frustrating because I like the service...I just can't access it.
I haven't rented a pad as of yet,but whoever came up with this ideal,WONDERFUL.......San Francisco CA has deep hills,I am 61 my age is finally catching up.
Have to delete and re-download about once a week because the app will hang on open. Actual scoots are great, app is terrible.
The scoot app hangs at the updating page on the second usage after a fresh install. Anytime I want to use the application I have to uninstall it and reinstall it.
Used to just use the browser. now the app is worth the download.. greatly improved.
Barely worked for one trip. Has since gotten stalled at the Connecting page for minutes at a time, had persistent connection issues once navigating the app, directed me to a scooter-less street spot, and shown no availability where there actually is. Look forward to major improvements to make the service for useable.
Great app. And the first one I've seen with Android N support! These devs are on top of things.

Scoot is an absolutely awesome and fun way to get around San Francisco! ... also very economical! Economical, fun, and good for the environment... what's not to like about that!!?
