North American Trees! for Android
I've used this app for 2 years and works very well
This was a nice app at first, but it needs more content. Great idea - it just needs to be completed!
Needs more tree varieties, more/ better pictures, and maybe a few more characteristic steps to narrow down the identification more.
Great app! Developer very capable and quick to resolve requests!
Needs way more trees, should ask more questions to help u identify trees better.
Needs more trees. very limited. Not worth paying for because it doesn't have much content.
I want more!
This app would be great if it was complete. It did not have the very first tree i tried to identify which was a blackjack oak.
Easy to use but when trying to use on tree in my yard it said it was one of 12 possible trees. needs to be more specific
Missing many major trees
Works great...
Needs Updated
Great price
Unfortunately, while an excellent idea, this app is very limited in detail and many more trees could be identified under the taxonomy. I have uninstalled it, hopefully will receive a refund. I would considered purchasing it in the future if it is improved, but for now, this should be free.
As many others have said, this needs a database update or a pro version for $4.99. Many trees missing, including Japanese Maple, Pistachio, etc., both popular "street trees" in California. (fir instance :-) Would also be nice to identify/filter on bark and fruit.
App shuts down and back out every 2-3seconds when trying to search through tree list!
Open for about 15 seconds..then closes itself. Junk!
For a paid app... Nowhere near enough trees. Need LOTS more to identify tree. No habitat of trees mapped or easily located, nor growing region. App needs lots of improvement.
The premise, the structure, the setup of the app is great! I'm glad I gave it a try. It looks like it's been out for awhile now though, I hope it's due for a content update soon... there's plenty of trees in my woods I still can't identify. Alot of great info and leaf pics in here. Being able to zoom or have a bigger picture of the whole tree would be nice; also, sometimes out there the tree is so tall you can't see the leaves well, just the bark, but some of the trees in here don't have bark pics.
has ok fundamental information, but only narrows you down so far before giving you a list of 6 to 8 trees maybe matching your initial drill down through an initially good dichotomous key approach. but then there are no supporting images at the detail level which would help, and just a tiny thumbnail image to go by of there overall tree.. practically useless.
Compared to the Audubon trees app, this has only a fraction of the trees, no range maps, and fewer pictures. However, unlike Audubon, it has an outstanding tree identification guide, and good sketches of leaf shapes eases identification. No pinch zoom. The Audubon trees app allows browsing by first or last name or scientific name but this only has a single method of sorting.
BUT I CAN'T FIND THE REDWOODS AND OTHER TREES THAT SHOULD BE IN PLEASE ADD OR I REDUCE MY RATING
The leaves only got to a very basic level. It needs to go all the way to the individual leaf before it goes to the tree.
Very useful as an everyday tool for arborists (tree surgeon) such as myself. Very useful in describing different species to customers and greenhorn employees. Would like to see a more complete list of North American trees and more detailing pictures. Very nice structure and loads of useful info albeit the lack of many popular species. Updates coming soon I would hope?
The UI is very intuitive and it can be moved to an SD card freeing up phone memory. The UI could be prettied up a bit, but it's very functional. The tree quiz game is a nice add on too. Great for nature lovers and hikers interested in learning about the natural world.
Good look and feel.Good photos. Instinctive work flow. Could use a few more native trees in the next version...such as balsam fir
Nice but not enough trees and no bark photos...
Too few species to be useful.for instance, missing the popular ornamental Chinese pistachio tree.
Runs great on htc evo w 2.2 Developer needs to expand database significantly.
Add camera recognition by leaf! Would pay $10 for that function!
Quiz is great but I would like to see it include the scientific name next to common name after question is answered. that way I can simultaneously get familiar with them.
This app is like others stated before, way to limited on species. Not to bad on ease of it. Guess you get what you pay for,(free)
Doesn't have three of the five trees in the woods behind my house
Needs more trees added so many not listed 5 stars for more definitions

Doesn't list enough trees for a paid program. Can't even have a plain old PLUM tree in the listing
