About Scanner Radio
Listen to live audio from over 6,500 police and fire scanners, weather radios, amateur radio repeaters and air traffic and marine radios from around the world (primarily in the United States, Canada, and Australia, with more being added daily).
Features:
• View scanners that are located nearest you, sorted by distance.
• View the top 50 scanners that have the most listeners (updated every 5 minutes).
• View list of scanners added most recently (new additions are being added all the time).
• Add scanners you listen to the most to your Favorites list for quick access.

• Turn on notifications to be notified when lots of people (such as over 3500, for example) are listening to any scanner (indicating that something big is happening). You can also be notified when scanners located near you (or specific scanners of your choosing) have more than a certain number of listeners and when new scanners are added.
• Add Scanner Radio widgets and shortcuts to your home screen for quick access (app cannot be installed on SD card to access them).
• Add a "Scanner Radio Favorite" shortcut to your home screen to launch a scanner feed via an alarm clock app or automation app.
• Supports Android Auto.
• Locale/Tasker can be used to launch the app and have one of your Favorites automatically begin playing based on one or more conditions or have the app stop playing. One use for this feature is to have a scanner feed begin playing when your phone connects to a specific Bluetooth device and then have it stop when the connection to that Bluetooth device is no longer present.
This is the free version of the app, below are the benefits of purchasing the Pro version (for only $2.99):

The audio you're able to hear is provided by volunteers (and, in many cases, police and fire departments themselves) using real police scanners and is the same audio you would hear using a real police scanner.

Explanation of why a couple of permissions are needed:
• The "Location" permission is required so that the app can determine what scanners are located in your area when you select "Nearby Scanners". When you select "Nearby Scanners" the app first attempts to determine your location via the network, if that fails the app then tries to determine your location via GPS.
• The "Photos/Media/Files" / "modify or delete the contents of your USB storage" permission is required in order to allow you to record the audio you're hearing and be able to save it to a location that you can access from your computer (requires Scanner Radio Pro to be installed or for you to be using Scanner Radio Pro).

Works well other than i get a lot of overlap with my local channel. Edit: it is a small county the fire and police run on the same channel on the app and i pick them both up. I would like to be able to listen to both. So i dont particularly want to balance one or the other out.

I would give this app a higher rating if they would put law enforcement and fire on two separate feeds. As a first responder, it's nearly impossible to listen to fire calls because their transmissions constantly get walked on with 5 minute dissertations from law enforcement officers. It's very frustrating.

It is a good app. I wish some of the local areas would not go offline as much as they do. However it is a great app and very entertaining. It's always better to light the barbecue sit at home and listen to other stupid people get in trouble. ????????. I do think the administrators for the quick response and understand exactly what you're saying It is a good app but it is not my place to contact providers to tell them what they're doing stand by my rating 3 stars thank you again for the response. ????????

Helped clear up confusion and ease anxieties. There was an incident that locked down the schools in our area at dismissal time. School district did not get us info quick enough. I was able to let the other parents in the parking lot know what was going down and text my children and let them know they were safe, the man with the gun was not on campus.

Down time is getting more prevalent with many different feeds from all over the nation. Broadcastify works fine, its the app!

since you force the backup folder to be where you want it o be and don't allow the user to change it there's no way they can back up from a previous version of the app on another SD card where it was located in a different root location (HUGE oversight) and seriously we're upon getting Oreo on many devices within the next 6 months and you guys don't even have a method of backing up to Google Drive for activity alerts and favorites? You have to be kidding me. BOTH APPS RUN ROUGUE + CONTINUOuS IN BACKGROUND, EVEN WHEN NOTIFICATIONS + ALARMS ARE TURNED OFF: Fix: Derive all activities from a common ActivityBase. Then hold a flag to FC the app, in onResume check if the FC flag is set. If so call System.exit(0); This will cascade through the entire activity stack, finally completely closing the app.

I used this for weather and rail for the southeast part of Texas but I can't get the channels anymore for houston/galviston area. But a good radio for fire and police.

Only uninstalling because las vegas metro is encrypting their radio. Which means no more las vegas area feed. Otherwise very good app. Had it for years. Thanks.

IT IS NO LONGER A POLICE SCANNER In the past it was a great app but now it will only pick up fire and ems, its no longer a police scanner, this is out dated and CAN NO LONGER receive the police frequency so why call it such Up date it and i will up date score, IT IS NOT A POLICE SCANNER LIKE IN THE PAST im very disappointed and i am repeating my self anyway im sure someone will respond previous version or some other simething and i dont really care as long as it becomes what it was in the past, i know its the guy here in lubbock texas who is not wanting anyone in town to be able lissen to anything but fire an ems. Some towns are not available in my state. But its cool it has a 15 sec delay and fun to listen to.

I loved this app but it no longer has Las Vegas. That's scary for me. Sirens and air patrol nightly and now I can't find out if trouble is in my path. Disabled now. So, its important for me to know what's happening near me. Not right. What's Las Vegas Trying to hide?
