Scanadu Scout for Android
"As we turn our attention to future products, we will continue to support the Scanadu Scout® devices until May 15, 2017, after which they will cease to function." wtf!? I wouldn't update the app in case they install a kill switch in the next version.
Blaming FDA for ending support of device as they move to new model.. Wish I didn't buy into their bs
Updated to Android 7.0 and the Bluetooth doesn't connect reliably. Connects once and then seems unable to connect to device after that until phone is rebooted. This is after latest app update.
Get the current people out of the company. You are scam artists that have stolen millions of dollars and are sabotaging our products. If you brick our devices, WE will not rest until we have been fully refunded.
Function is easy to use most times, data accessible to view and history is nice (though some grouping to week at the month level would be good.) On LG G4 if bluetooth is on first is fine, Would not connect if it required blue tooth to turn on after pressing the scan button, had to restart scan or sometimes the whole app. On Google Pixel will find the device but won't progress to scan, can't migrate to my new phone!
For those having trouble connecting with Android N, make sure location services are allowed and your GPS (location) is turned on. Then it will connect.
They end support for testbed devices and early adopters. Only offer an empty apology and a link to a full priced new model...
I use this alot, so don't brick it in May.
I like the device and it works. I have had some problems with recording my temperature. Its sometimes just doesn't get any temperature data for me. The is one problem that needs to be addressed is how to archive or restore previous readings. I lost all my old readings. I did backup my /sdcard/scanadu/scout/*.bin files but can not access them.
Updated Review: They don't care about the data. Finally switched phones after creating data for over a year. Zero built-in ability to carry my data forward from Scanadu. Taking another star. Was directed to use Helium. Since this isn't a review for Helium, I'll stick with the result of following Scanadu Support's recommendation: WASTED TIME. I have finally carried the data forward, but this should be so simple... Original Review: Dumped data third day into using due to app update. Do I need to write down my readings every day? Sorta thought that was the whole point of tracking biometrics this way - make it easy and consistent for tracking. On the plus side - temp works now.
Still as inaccurate as ever, always wrong but at least it appears to be consistently wrong. Even suggesting that this device measures blood pressure could be dangerous. 150 systolic is measured at 120, so wildly wrong as to be pointless. Just look at the global stats and see how few reports of hypertension are reported.
Stopped working since update to Android N. On a nexus 5X. Please fix so I can use again
The main reason I bought the device was to monitor a member of the family who has high blood pressure. The device fails both in measuring blood presdure and cardiac frequency in comparison to 90$ Omron 500. In the beginning I have tried to talk with the developers ... but tll today no advances in measurement precision. I tried the device on an Iphone 6 ... but the problems remain. UNFORTUNATELLY this is a demonstration device that costs a hell of a lot of money.
Updated to Android 7.0 and the Bluetooth doesn't connect for sensor data. It connects for firmware version but fails to connect for sensors.
Device says something about screen overlay and to turn it off but I don't see where I can do that. I could enable location but in the end the app fails
Doesn't work with the Android N Preview. Gets to the point where you old it to your head and freezes.
Able to connect to the device and see firmware version but gets stuck.
Issues with connecting. NEVER measures temperature..
Please allow landscape. Please fix display issues with dpi. Please add a guest mode.
Previously I had a galaxy s4
Works good for me! Installed on several smartphones - all work with the same device. Blood pressure, heart rates are fine. The temperature is less exact The app crashes from time to time. But overall grade is still 5. There is no competitor to this device.
Why does the app require access to location?
Never measures my temp
Accurate tracking
Easy to use
The apple version has had new features for a long time now. Where's the android updates? Also the blood pressure reading is way lower than I get with every cuff style blood pressure tester I have tried.
Changing phones? Get ready to lose all your data. It should sync somewhere right? I mean it's important stuff. That and the blood pressure reading is way off. Temp doesn't get recognized most of the time. I know this is more field testing but I thought the stats would be accurate.
Hard to scan and now temperature probe not working.
Yes there are a few niggles, but generally this is awesome. Can't wait till more generally adopted
Temperature probe not working most of the time. I don't have the issue with blood pressure being off that others seem to. But I did change phones, and lost all my readings. Adding Google fit support would fix this, as it would save everything to a platform that talks to all my other health apps
Great personal vital signs reader
B4 last update able to leave notes but field for that is now so small it's impossible to do. Reason for this rating is my cuff readings by my Home Health Care nurse has systolic higher than scanadu reading & I wanted to record the difference.
I'll give a low rating for now. It worked fine for a while, but it never can connect to the device. Shoe connecting but stuck there for ever :( rebooting the phone (nexus 5) sometime help, but not always
It's so easy to use!
Switch your phone and all historic data is lost
It works great on iPhone and a Moto G, although there are occasions when no info shows up after a scan on the Android. With a Nexus 4 the process runs through as normal but never shows info - readings are 0 across the board. Otherwise it would be 4-5 stars, only reduced because it can be a little tricky to get a good reading until you figure out how to hold the device to keep it stable.
Out of the blue the temperature sensor stopped and said the result was out of range. I tried manually adjusting the range and that didn't help.
I had high expectations and early tweets reported no profile support which worried me. Turned out to not be a big deal as the Scout does a good job making sharing the device easy. Scout avoids traditional pairing pains leading to a smooth user experience. Highly recommend this.
though it was second most anticipated feature and several blog posts highlighted its development there is no mention about it in app and descriptions anymore. the rest seems working

Edit: Finally managed to measure temperature consistently. The trick is to start measuring when the app actually shows you the screen with the "heart", not a second earlier. Latest update fixed issue with Nexus 7 running Lollipop. Edit: The device stopped charging. It is a brick now with no support from the cimpany.
