TapeMachine Recorder for Android
I don't know what's going on with this app but my anti virus software recognized this app as malware. I will update this upon further inspection. I love this app, but this is a problem. Also, why does this app need my call/device information? Update: deleted/reinstalled fixed the problem, I had an old version maybe? Everything's fine. But where's the new updates?! This app was the finest recording app out!
I have used it extensively and I particularly appreciate that I can record both sides of a phone call --without putting the phone in speaker mode (great when you're driving and can't take notes). But now, if I'm recording a call when another call comes, the recording either stops or it starts recording over the beginning of existing recording, like a snake eating its tail. Sometimes hangs the phone and I can't call until I reboot. Would give 4 stars w/o issues, 5 for intuitive non-techie interface.
No longer able to install extra codecs, what's up with that? Annoying... Other than that it's still the best audio recorder of this kind.
Hi. I've got a problem with default folder. Basically can't change it to sd card. Actually can't even come back to original folder -once at root level I can't navigate anywhere... Big issue for me.
MP3 doesn't work, their website is down and hasn't worked for a while. I've tried to communicate with them but nothing works. They don't respond!
I have literally tried them all and this is by far the best. Multiple formats, even mp3. Great widgit, auto volume levels, and records when phone is turned off for discrete recordings. 2016 update: Sadly it has not been updated in a while, and the developer's website is no longer up, so if you paid for the MP3 plugin, it will not download anymore. No stereo recording either and I would like to on my new phone.
I bought the paid version long ago. The codec has come and gone a few times. Without it, this is a total waste of an app. It used to be the best, but so was Tiger Woods at one time. Haaaaa. No Bueno no mas
Now whenever i open the program, i get "unfortunately take machine has stopped" intermediately on launch. Anything i can do to troubleshoot? I've depended on Tape Machine for years, sorry to lose it...
I paid for this recorder and I dont ever pay for apps. Great for recording music. But the no support on the mp3 codec really sucks. It used to work and it was great. Its a bait and switch! Sucks. I paid damn it!
I used this previously on an HTC 1V, worked fine then until that died, but on my replacement phone, a Motorola Moto G (1st gen) there was an echo on all recordings (a problem shared with another Moto G owner). Now It has now been updated to deal with this in release 2.3.3 and I'm happy now to re-rate it again as very good. So the developers clearly do take notice of these reviews!
Developer no longer supports app: Do NOT buy This used to be a great recording app and still is when it works. Unfortunately the developer no longer updates it and working around all the glitches (all associated with storage folders) is too much of a hassle. A pity, as this used to be one of the best apps on android for recording.
This is the best Android sound recorder available. It doesn't have any cute little pictures of microphones or nice big buttons that light up red. It has your waveform, a VU meter and some tasteful controls. If the focus of your recording is your recording, this is the app to get.
It lacks some choice features that other apps possess; but overall, it's the best voice recorder app I've come across - to the point that I was willing to pay for the full version. The only remarkable problem I have found is with its file format and folder functionality. It comes with .wav as default, and has the capability to add several others including .mp3, but this requires installation of a codec - the availability of which is not very well supported. I had to fish around for a 3rd party zip file which only added the .mp3 format. Would give 5 stars if that problem were fixed.
"ABANDON-WARE" I have reported app and Dev as MIA. Website no longer exists as stated, has no control of main website (never did, in fact), MP3 availability of codec also non available via website, no alternative exists for download. Latter makes app completely useless - reported to Google as such. DO NOT DOWNLOAD< APP NO LONGER WORKS CORRECTLY.
UPDATE: Used to be the best. Now does not work. :: Excellent! Nice widget, record in background, taskbar switching, MP3, OGG, and WAV support. Feature request: Variable playback speed.
This is a great app for recording in high quality and doing edits. One big problem it doesn't read my SD card. I rooted my phone and patched kitkat4.4 to solve this.. still won't write to it. Frustrating as I record alot of ideas.
Update: Can no longer export to mp3 format - missing Codec and when follow link to get it developer website is gone. Too bad as it was a decent little app that I liked enough to pay for the pro version. Knocking down to 1 star until fixed - if ever. We were looking for an app that allowed us to record band practices for our acoustic duo gig and this one seemed the best for simplicity that had the features we were looking for. The only thing it doesn't seem to be able to do which we wish it would is go select a destination folder on the external SD card. Whenever I try it fails and gives an error. So I have to move the recorded files there manually and listen with another player. So it loses a star for that.
Actually a great app but I still cannot get my iRig pre amp to work with this. A shame really.
I purchased my first App two years ago directly from the developer but I can not longer get in touch with him. His website has been down for a while. I bought it again here and installed it on my Note 4, transfered the Mp3 Codec from my old phone to the Note and now the Mp3 works. If you don't have the original Codec, you can't use this option. I still feel like many other professionals this is one of the best recorders around . You could probably find the Mp3 Codecs on the Internet
Can't install codecs because the website is down. Crashes often on my Galaxy Note 2. Used to be a good app but needs a little help ASAP. Cost me a lot for the pro version so not very happy with no mp3 and crashes.
Using this with a Rode SmartLav+ mic. The quality and ease of use is top notch. The only thing I wish it had was either nose reduction or compression/eq. Thanks for such a great app!
I love the app usually but I'm very irritated that I CAN'T CONVERT .WAV TO MP3!!!!! The download website doesn't exist. Does anyone have a working link to the codec? I paid for this app. This is crap!!!
It appears that TapeMachine Recorder has been abandoned. Well...it was good while it lasted.
I loved this app but it looks like it isn't supported anymore. I can't download the MP3 codec and the website doesn't appear to exist anymore...
Well I recently change my device and first of all install this app on it, my device is samsung s7 edge there are two bug that I found , first when I want open a recorded song and scroll up or down , screen crashed, seccond the auto gain tunning reset and turning off every time I re open the app
Don't waste your time buying this app as the devloper has abandoned support for it .no mp3 codec.
Used to love this app until I needed it in an emergency and it wouldn't work because of license check fail.
The email address and the domain of the developer appears to be no longer in service.
It was a great app, but the source seems to no longer exist. It requires a helper-app to enable exporting MP3s . I obtained the paid version, but now that the support web site is gone, you can no longer get the helper app to do MP3s.
I highly recommend this app. You simply wont find anyting that comes as close to TapeMachine quality in sound. The app desperately needs an interface update to match material standard...
App no longer has access to or can see old files that are on the SD card. And when trying to set the Ext SD as default storage it comes up with an error saying it can't be found check SD card. The card tests fine and it worked great prior to lollipop install. Really frustrated. Running android 5 lollipop, samsung S5.
Great recorder, especially if you want to edit what you have recorded.
Still the best audio recording app, but it could use USB audio support.
Tried few other apps. This is by far the best and simplest. Record quality is very good.
Never has issues with this. Love the ui though it could use a refresh.
Support for this seemed to have stopped completely. Neither website or email address works. :-(
I purchased the green icon app a few years ago and was disappointed when I lost paid access just because I changed phones. I emailed about getting my license switchedto my new device and never got a reply. Sad day.
The recordings often become corrupt with artifacts due to inefficient management of processor resources
This is the one of the best best I ever used to get the best out of this app which all three together: side and help one another all three together: side and help you can record a video FX player complain music MX player all at the same time according to your tape machine

Update: I've had this app since it first launched. It used to be great. It still uses the microphone better than any other app I've seen! I paid for full version and mp3 codec worked like a champ. Then thru phone updates, phone changes, etc. I had to keep re downloading it. Eventually I couldn't get the codec - like many others are having issues with right now. Please fix dev! Love this app when working right!
