Used to work with my dvr936 now it doesn't. So no idea what to do with cam now.

Does what it says on the tin, connected to camera, only thing that's a bug, is the time it takes to download videos

I don't agree with others that the camera is useless without the app, but the app is useless to me. I have a DVR936 and I followed the instructions in the manual to get the camera connected. Once connected, I tapped once on the camera connected in position one (the only camera). After three seconds, the screen went black for a second and then it went back to the app with the listing of cameras. I was trying to use the app because the manual indicates that the proprietary software for this camera only works on Windows and Mac but I use Ubuntu. This was all after I tried what I do with every other camera, which is to just plug it in and let my computer recognize it so I can copy over the files. That does not work with this camera. To get the files, my only option is to pull the card and use an external card reader.

It would be nice if the app worked. Camera is pretty much useless without it, so it's safe to call it a scam. Used on multiple devices, with multiplie users. Same results, 99% of the time the app freezes. THANKS FOR NOTHING VIVITAR! I will never buy one of your products again. Don't waste your time, just spend the extra and get a Go Pro

There are moments when this app works, and when it does it is excellent, however the camera 794hd seems unable to support WiFi for more than a few minutes. Invariably it will turn off before you finish what you are doing causing the app to crash. Occasionally it flashes low battery in this process but only rarely. It's much more stable if you connect the camera to a USB power supply, but then you don't really have an action cam do you?

App worked great on my old moto g3, however, since upgrading to the g5, trying to connect to the dvr794hd causes the camera to freeze completely, and the only way to un-freeze it is to remove the battery entirely. Very disappointed with my purchase.

Using 3 stars for now Think of it as half full or half empty At least I have it a full run of this app. Will give rating afterwords.

It bugs all the time freezes to much 5 ⭐ rating if fixed.

no system preference button to press..phone has no menu button

App won't open. Last update for app was October 2016.

Vivitar camera

Being able to frame your shot and change the settings was huge for me. The live stream to your device has very little delay. I haven't saved any video or photos to my phone so I can not comment on that. All in all a more than usable app. Thank vivitar!

I've tried to download the pics on my phone, tablet and laptop with zero success. I even put the microcard in a card reader for the laptop and no luck there either. This is ridiculous to pay a good amount for a camera that the pics can't be retrieved from!!

App is worthless. Does not work. When trying to connect to internet, the connection goes back to the server connection. That's a lot of money to spend on a camera for which it cannot be used as promised.

Doesn't work. Keeps saying that cannot find IP address of camera and loses connection between it. It hasn't connected to camera once. Wish I hadn't gone with vivitar.

Will not connect to camera. I can get other apps to connect ,but this one will not they need to update this app Stinks!!!!

Will never buy a vivitar product again, there is a reason they are so cheap!!!

When I try to download any video on my phone app and camera just crashed

How hard is it really to update a product? Apparently it's impossible for vivitar.

It works great for me.

Works perfectly, wifi connected with no problems, performs as described, thumbs up. Android 5.0.1/Huawei P8. DVR914/4k.

Camera crashes as soon as you start recording. No way to set the date on the camera.
