Amrita Event Calendar

One of the main problems we have regarding the campus events is that it may change at anytime owing to sudden consequences. This demands a calendar to be dynamic. The event calendar provided at our campus does provide sufficient info about the semester, but not enough. Losing the calendar is another problem.

The solution? Have an e-calendar that you can access anytime in your phone. And make it dynamic so that all event changes are instantly delivered to every device.

This app brings you just that.

NOTE: This app is targeted towards students and faculty of Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore. And also those who are interested in knowing the event schedule of our campus.

This App requires permissions to view network state and access internet for obvious reasons.
However, some extra permissions are also required by the versions after 1.0.2 and are completely necessary for the app to do what it does:
Access to Identity : This is used to uniquely identify a phone by GCM. That's how broadcasting works.

Run at Start up : required to initialize the service that listens for any notifications (Flash news).

Control vibration and Prevent phone from sleeping : used by the Flash News listener service to let you know that you have a notification.

Read Phone State: To verify your network connection speed and carrier.

Updates are completely optional and is determined by the user. If you choose not to update, you can still have the static version similar to that distributed to the college.
