Safeway

The ease of use and the opportunities for savings with this app have altered my shopping habits. The UX is good. The UI is well designed. The shopping list and barcode functions are more than adequate. Unlike many others (I am looking at you QFC/Fred Meyer) which basically print their paper ads everything is listed by section. If the same item has two different possible discounts the one which saves more is used. I am able to plan trips and menus around the savings with little extra work. What more could you ask for?

Does not work well in the store, think it has something to do with store wi fi has too much interference? Very frustrating while Im shopping. App also sends me offers on wednesday that do not always show up after I have accepted, I have to check back later to make sure it took.

This app is not user friendly. It requires multiple steps to get discounts. You have to find store, find savings, add savings to list, add "list", sync list, and it still doesn't work. A more user friendly app would just have u add your coupon and it automatically syncs to your #. TOO MANY STEPS. If you have an Albertsons you also shop at, you have to change locations each time you shop at different stores.

I love the app. And how it organizes everything. I don't need the coupons because everything is on my phone. The one thing I absolutely hate, and I mean hate, it is very difficult to read the discounts and stuff on your sales slip. I wish this could be easier. Computers and people do make mistakes, this is normal. But I'd like to be able to check them easier and quicker to check. Other than that, I love it.

I have been using the Safeway app for yrs. Love it. Like that Albertsons has been added. Only problem is the list gets wiped out what you change stores. As I shop at both it is a pain to reload my second store.

Great App! I download the coupons all the time. Otherwise I forget them, so it's so convenient. I've even used the barcode scanner at the store when I didn't check all the deals before I got there and it's worked wonderfully. I highly recommend using this app!

It's great except for one thing. Whenever i refresh, it takes me back to the bottom where i originally was. Even days later when it's a new week and i need to add to my card, to refresh i have to scroll to the top, but it always takes me back down 2-3 times. So i have to be really slow scrolling once I'm near the top. Wasn't always like this, started when they changed the app a year or so ago. I'd love a fix! Also wish it didn't automatically add to my list and allowed me to add individually.

It's cool everything once you get used to figuring out how to use the app and finding things. But... would be nice if when you switch storage you list would stay the same I understand the stores might be different but I have to go back in and I find the exact same things that I had on my list from the other store and they're both at the same price. Next would be nice if you could enlarge the pictures to zoom in to see exactly what what it is cuz it's hard to see sometimes. Who's the biggest thing would be better if you could put food descriptions or more description of the items that are listed so you know exactly which items that are for sale instead of just the general description of the item. Two lines does not cover exactly what's for sale. Just saying organic open Nature and don't know what it is and the picture sucks or if it says Ziploc storage bags but they don't tell you exactly which one, the ounces and stuff don't really say anything either. Would be nice if you had a bigger description box.

Gas Rewards Program DOES NOT WORK. They get you to buy more to get a reward but then do not give it to you. This has happened 3 times in a row now. Complete garbage. I want my rewards !!!

The app in general is great, but 9 times out of 10 it wont work while inside an actual Safeway. No clue why, but two others I have asked had the same issue. Other then that parculur quirk, it's simple to use and acts as a decent interface with their club saver program.

This is the best app of any grocery store. I refuse to shop at any other store because their apps are so inferior. I do wish they would change back to 'all offers' again so we didn't have to press each category like just 4u, weekly ad, coupons, etc.

The Safeway app and the Albertsons app refuse to hold to their respective store locations within their respective apps making it very frustrating to have go into the app every time I want to use them to constantly change store addresses in order to see the appropriate weekly ad deals. Please correct this "cross conflict" issue between the Safeway app and the Albertsons app. 

Saves me hassle & money so 5 stars for that reason. The app could respond faster; likely need to upgrade the server we all connect to. I've seen the server go down and become unresponsive while shopping more than once also. But still great.

Easy to load coupons to my card. Only drawback is the in store isle / coupon item locator is a bit out of date. Some items are not where it says it is.

Depending on locations, loading or syncing your app/grocery list is almost impossible in store. But when working it's a great way to see your available coupons and load them onto your account!

I would like to have the option of seeing the print version of your weekly ad. I really don't enjoy having to scroll through everything just to see what your weekly specials are.

Needs some work I use this app all the time and it certainly helps, but there is a lot of room for improvement. - Connectivity is an issue. The app can take up to 5 minutes to boot up when I enter a store, even if I left it up when I left the house, less than 10 minutes away. - I use the shop-by-aisle function every shopping trip, but it's often wrong, especially now that my store is reorganizing. - I'd like to be able to take my shopping list and automatically xfr the whole thing to delivery mode for over-booked days. - How about a function to let me see what's nearby on the shelves before I go?

I like that they notice what I buy, so they stock more, and show it as available through the app, and give discounts. It's a rain-win situation for both of us. :)

I love using this app to save money!!! It makes couponing easy and the special offers are a great bonus. My only dislike is that you can't view the ad. I like to see the physical ad.

I wish you would just give the "just for you" to everyone. Those who need discounts the most aren' t technology efficient. I like that it saves my list!

Love the butchers, they always go out and help with finfing the rite cut of meat i need. The vegetable and fruit department make special trays for me when i need them. Im deadly allergic to onions.

I've never been much of a Safeway customer but this app has me going shopping every week for great deals for my family and day care! Loving it!

I like being able to find items and deals and being able to add to my card quickly. The only category I think should be better broken down is the Health and household items. I have a hard time navigating it when there are often more than 50 items in that category and they are all random rather ran grouped with like items.

Great app! I like being able to see what is on sale before I go to the store. My only complaint is that it sometimes takes awhile to load and show my shopping list in the store.

Very poor app. Have tried jumping through the hoops to get coupons to work and have never had it work. Weekly ad would be easier to browse if a printed version was viewable. Only view is based on category which is painful to browse through. Also problems with cross talk between the Safeway and Albertson's apps that needs to be fixed. Also annoying that if you want to shop at different stores in the same city you have to change your store, add the coupons or deals you want for that store and then not have it work. Should be simple but it isn't. The Fry's app works great on comparison.

I like this app. Easy for me to use. I love I can scan in the store on shelf labels if I didn't get the coupon loaded before coming to the store and I can scan extra coupons in the ads. Just wish the coupons put in the app were good at all your stores without my having to change my favorite store. I shop at my local store and maybe stop by a different store in my travels. Other than that I use this app a lot and like it. I also like it shows me my reward points at a glance.

It's really useful. I'd improve the email links, search options, and filters. Also it doesn't work as well when offline...thank you for this! Please don't publicize my username...

I love the app in the Sequim store! Unfortunately in the Port Townsend store it does not allow me to shop by aisle which makes finding items much more difficult.

GPS will not turn off I have to revoke location permission to stop the battery drain. GPS was on at least 5 minutes till I noticed phone getting hot.

Decent app but the Safeway servers are unreliable. Occasionally the server doesn't sync and the items don't ring at the correct price. I never have any luck with the scanner either.

I like this app but i wish they would keep more up to date on their coupons. Its seems like theyre always a few days behind. For example most people i know and myself included get payed on the first but they wont update their coupons for almost a week. If this is fixed ill come back and give you 5 stars.

Too complicated. My wife has things in her basket I don't know about, then the coupon does not get used. Military discount was nice.

Update: Since my last review there has been many updates and Safeway seems to listen to us. They have improved this app 100%. I love that you can add items to a short list like the items from $5 Fridays and the items you need asap. Thank you for listening Safeway. Last review 2015: I take the time at home to build my list, add coupons and my special deals. Then when I get to Safeway to shop 9/10 times I can't access my list so I end up getting frustrated and only get a few things that i remember. I have now started shopping elsewhere and if I go to Safeway for anything its usually $5 Friday. I could print my list but it would be a mile long since they don't give you the option anymore to just add to the card and not to the list. Safeway Wi-Fi is terribly lacking signal strength!

Ever since loading this app my phone dies every 12 hours. I have a new phone and have only added apps weekly to see what is draining my battery. My phone would stay charged for two days until after I loaded this app.

I love this app! Super easy to use and helps me get the maximum savings I can! With his app I have saved almost 70% on my grocery total n one trip!!

It's very helpful when planning you're shopping trip and trying to stay on a budget. My only dislike is that some deals are confusing with "fine print".

Love the personalized deals. Very easy to navigate because items are organized by categories. Have the option of add coupons, and then build shopping list, so less clutter. Shopping list items can be organized by aisles of chosen store that makes it so much easier to find things when shopping.

Good app, sometimes buggy and shuts down (annoying while I am in-store!) But helpful and good savings.

I love the Safeway app. Gives u greats deals. Clips coupons so u don't have to very convenient

Glitchy. An idiot must have programmed it. Store staff didn't even know how to make it work. I think from now on I will keep shopping at Kroger or Walmart.
