قال الله تعالى : " فَاذْكُرُونِي أَذْكُـرْكُمْ وَاشْكُرُواْ لِي وَلاَ تَكْفُرُونِ‏" ، " يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ ذِكْرًا كَثِيرًا " ، " وَاذْكُر رَّبَّكَ فِي نَفْسِكَ تَضَرُّعاً وَخِيفَةً وَدُونَ الْجَهْرِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالآصَالِ وَلاَ تَكُن مِّنَ الْغَافِلِينَ " .
يحثنا الله تعالى في آياته الكريمة بالمداومة على الذكر و شكر الله دائماً ، نذكره في أوقاتنا جميعها ، ليس كالغافلين الذين لا يذكرون الله إلا في أوقات معينة ويتناسون ذكر الله في باقي مناحي حياتهم .
و قال الرسول صلى الله عليه و سلم : " مثل الذي يذكر ربه ، والذي لا يذكر ربه ؛ مثل الحي و الميت " ، بمعني أنه الذي لايذكر الله بالأذكار اليومية كالميت ، والذي يذكر الله دائماً بالحي ، وكأن الأذكار تمد الإنسان بالحياة وعدم ذكرها تميته و تميت قلبه .
وقال ابن القيم : (أذكار الصباح والمساء بمثابة الدرع كلما زادت سماكته لم يتأثر صاحبه، بل تصل قوة الدرع إلى أن يعود السهم فيصيب من أطلقه) ، فيحمي الشخص نفسه من الحسد و العين ومن مكر الشيطان له .
