Runtastic Workout Timer App for Android
It's a simple but great app. The only problem is that with my Huawei P9 there's no audio, neither switching the button or stopping other audio services, so is not possible to use it without watching at the phone, limiting the usability by a huge margin. With this fix it would be a 5 star.
This is nice and simple. I installed this app after another interval timer app I was using stopped sounds, for some reason. With the auditory alerts I don't have to keep an eye on the timer to know when to change positions or count reps. I only need one timer, so I don't need to upgrade to multiple timers within the app.
It's a great & simple App. I used for my HiiT, Abs of steel and Jump rope sessions. It's the best have used, It definitely stands out. It could use a few improvements like calories burnt, Connection to other apps. But overall it deserves more than 5 stars.
Some issues seem to confuse timer: screen off, app in background, other notifications. The feature set and design are great. Configuring the timer seems to require too many clicks, it exits the config after each setting I change, so I have to re-enter again to continue.
Love it. I tried several and this one is the best I've found. Her voice gets mixed up at times though and that can stuff with the volume of my music. I'd also like it if it could go from one timer to the next by itself, but those are small things, everything else is perfect for my needs and saves lots of delays using different timers etc. Exactly what I needed.
This does everything I need. It has a prep timer, workout timer and a rest timer. It also has settings to turn on/ off notifications. Well thought out app. Thank you. Changed review...the free app allows for only one timer. You pay $.99 for unlimited. Not that big of a big deal. It would be nice if the prep timer could be set for the initial set only. Also turn the voice off and have only a beep for the final 3secs of each workout/ rest period.
Love the mechanics of this app. Simple to use and figure out. Only downside is the timer noise isn't loud enough. With music playing I can't tell when I need to speed up my pace or slow down, even with 100% volume. Perhaps have the timer sound override the music?
I love it. It's perfect for my high intensity workouts. The only thing is...I wish the volume can go higher. I'm not always outside when working out and I don't want to have to always put on my ear phones in order to hear the app over my music. Other than that, great app.
Awesome and customizable. Just wish you could have a short beep or something for cues. Long audio cuts into music, especially annoying on blue tooth headsets, but otherwise best app as far as customizing reps, sets, rest, prep.*update* still using and still feel the same. Stillglitches and minor annoyances with the curs, but best out there.
I had to adjust the settings quite a bit to get the right configuration I wanted, but once I did, I was happy. The app could benefit for additional UI design to focus on intuitiveness. Feature request: skip the prep timer between repetitions and only use at the start of a new set.
Excellent to do some workout with a voice to know if we need to rest; workout or prepare the exercise. My question is for the pro version: it's an in-app purchase so I don't known if I bought it and use it (the pro version) on an another device
Works very well, has good UI and no intrusive ads. A couple of cons would be that the voice notification does not work, when using headphones while the phone is on vibrate/silent mode. Also a timer for "wind down" would be a welcome addition.
I have a Note 4 and the app doesnt run properly in the back ground. It misses sets if the screen isn't active, which means I have to constantly keep an eye on it... and the voice notifications take a while to kick in. Wish it worked
Works for what I need. Simple to use. Enough functions on the free version to get by. Wish there was a tone for the 3 second countdown and for sets - voice is hard to hear when you are working a couple feet away. Overall, a good timer app.
Easy to use and does it's job perfectly. I would just like to see an option for beeps instead of always voice. Also, with the voice I am unable to control its volume, it's either very loud or does make any noise at all. Other than that, I'd love to be able to remove the adds. Good stuff otherwise.
Would be nice to have the choice between voice feedback and just customizable notification sounds. It's funny that you can disable the voice feedback without having an alternative. The app becomes useless, unless you are looking at your phone while working out.
Thought that purchasing would provide more reps but sadly it didn't. So now have to split my workout over multiple sets. Still a beautiful app, the best looking out there.
In most ways this interval timer is excellent; fully customizable and easy to use. The problem I have with it, and with most interval apps, is that the feedback voice is WAY too soft. I have missed the end of my interval many times simply because I did not hear the countdown. I would be happy to give this app 5 stars if they upgrade the volume level, but until then this is a deal-breaker for me.
It's a great looking app, but it's buggy. On my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge runnin Android 5.1.1 it does not speak or make any sound. I've got all the speach options turned on but I don't hear anything.
Although immensely helpful in timing short-burst, high intensity workouts, it can be a little confusing if you aren't actually able to view the screen. But definitely the best free timer I have used so far.
It shouldn't be hard to get a phone to measure 10 and 20 second intervals but this app fails big time. The intervals vary from 2 to 40 seconds in no discernable pattern. Sometimes stalls sometimes accelerates the clock.
I love that you can set reps and how many sets . I wish that you could still hear the talking when your phone is on silent. I hate having to turn my ringer on in the gym. I also wish it would give you the option to veto the prep stage. All in all a good app though
This timer has made my HIIT Training a joy. I dont have to worry about looking at the clock at all. Just set up the timer hit start and the calories get burned!!! Add in a share button to show what you have done on social media and this app would be awesome!
Perfect for training for a marathon. Start easy at 1 minute walk (rep). 1 minute run X 3 sets then 4 sets, 5 sets etc. and work your way up. Train 3x a week. Next thing you know you're ready for a marathon! Great app.
I used to use my stock clock to do my Tabata workouts. After finding this app, I fell in love with working out at the gym. It's very efficient and I don't have to concentrate on stopping and starting the clock or even staring at the screen. This app does it all by itself. Sweet. Thank you
I recently did a half marathon and was jogging next to these ladies who had their phone talking to them saying rest workout. every time they ran I ran, every time they stopped I stopped. I finally asked them what they were listening to and they told me about this app. Today was my first time trying it and I absolutely love it I have gained 2 minutes on my time and had an average pace of 9.1 mph my normal average speed was 5.0 to 6.0. This actually forced me to run farther in harder. Thank you
There are tons of workout apps in the market but this one is great because it performs one thing very well: custom interval timing. You can set the "preparation", workout, and rest times as well as the number of repetitions and sets. Since I'm running, I just kept the repetition to 1 and sets to however many times I want to repeat the HIIT. Most importantly, this app LOOKS GOOD. It's very aesthetically appealing and very easy to understand and navigate.
The interface is cool, the verbal cues are good. What I didn't like was not having the ability to add more than 20 sets. My reason is this. When you do more than one repetition the timer includes the warmup segment. I'm run/walk training. I do 5 minute warm up and at least 30 minutes of exercise. I set my timer warmup to 5 minutes and set my run/walk intervals. But I am limited to 20 sets, totaling 25 minutes. Why the limit? It almost makes the timer useless for me.
Couldn't have been better if I made it myself. So easy to use you don't even need instructions. The visual element of the counter is a brilliant idea, as it lets you know at a glance how long you have to go without having to read any pesky numbers while you have sweat in your eyes! This app has really improved my workouts.
Really love the app. Like the big display and the circular easy to understand circular graphic. One suggestion though, it would be great if the sets could be more than 20. The glitch on my LG G3 phone is that every time I use the app, the touch feedback is turned on to max although I always had it at off. So I have to reset the setting again after each use. Update: After almost a year, changed my phone to G4. Still the same glitch after using the app.
It works really well, the only thing is that the volume is super high if you've got headphones on and are trying it for working out while listening to Pandora. I did find another use for it though. I currently use it on my kids for a reinforcement timer. You can use it for how long they ate being reinforced as well as how long they go without it
The first two times I used it, it worked just fine. The third time the app muted itself and now I can't get any sound from the app, even if I change the settings. It also mutes my phone when I open it. Basic troubleshooting did not fix the problem, nor did uninstall/reinstall and no support on the website. I'll have to go to another app.
Love this app! I use it daily for my guitar exercises and practice sessions. Fixed volume issue. Thanks! Only issue left is that it drains battery pretty significantly. Occasionally on my new S6, the app has not been turning off. It kept showing up on my lock screen and notification bar and i couldn't get rid of it except by restarting my phone. Fyi.
I purchased a Gymboss timer which ultimately stopped working only after 2 months. This app should have been my first choice. User friendly and it speaks so you don't have to look at the phone and my phone stayed awake the entire time. Thank you for making this app, it is appreciated!
Has been a great aid in a wide variety of workouts over the past few years. Wouldn't mind a few more options for flexibility, but I understand how that might be detrimental it's ease of use.
Great app, best I have come across. The voice countdown helps a lot when you can't see timer while doing floor exercises. I have chronic back pain and timer helps to do my daily workout
Can't get it to notify me when my timer runs down to 0. So it's pretty pointless unless this is fixed.
I liked this app as a basic interval timer with voice coaching, for the most part, but then it malfunctioned. The timer now counts down a workout, then instantly counts down for the rest interval, skipping the workout interval completely just a couple of seconds into it. It skips intervals at random throughout a workout, displays errant times on the screen, changes the duration of intervals at random and the suddenly stops working without warning. It did this on two back-to-back workouts. Apparently, it's time to either find a new interval app for our run/walk interval training or start using my Garmin watch to do the intervals instead. I liked the voice coaching, but I'd rather settle for beeps on the watch that are actually correct.
The best I've used so far. Brought my worries down a tenfold! Great app. Keep it up guys
