SpaceTracker was initially developed as an application for High Altitude Balloon experiments. SpaceTracker had it's maiden flight 11/25/2011 when it was used running on an HTC Incredible 2. The flight was a success and the phone was successfully recovered.
The application itself will allow you to setup your phone to take pictures at a specific interval as well as send out SMS messages at specific intervals with the phones current location, speed, and distance.
After tracks/flights are recorded SpaceTracker can export the GPS data to a KML file to display the flight path in Google Earth.
SpaceTracker is useful for not just High Altitude Balloon Experiments but can be used for sending your location while driving/running/biking to keep loved ones in the loop. Really the possible uses for the application are endless.

Hangs alot on Samsung S4. Dunno why but it doesn't even send a sms or take pics. I would give 5* if these are fixed in the next version.

Application works as advertised but it is illegal to transmit from a cellphone while airborne. Title 47 § 22.925 : "Cellular telephones installed in or carried aboard airplanes, balloons or any other type of aircraft must not be operated while such aircraft are airborne (not touching the ground)."

We received SMS data back perfectly up to 6400m (when it lost contact with the mobile phone network). Something went wrong and we never received data upon it's return. Not the apps fault however. Better luck next time.
