Rover - Dog Boarding & Walking

Rover charges the customers who book a fee and also take 20% of the sitters income. It's really too much. Most sitters could never really make a living this way or even suppliment income enough. It's a lot of work to keep some dogs and to not get paid cause rover takes so much is a shame. Rover increased its fees and now bought out doggyvaca. Make your millions off the backs of us hardworking dog lovers..

The inbox should be changed so that reservations are listed in order by date. Currently, bookings are out of order in terms of the dates. Also a sort feature should be added so that one could sort out active bookings vs. upcoming bookings. As it is now active bookings are mixed in with upcoming bookings and none are in order making it quite difficult to view what is coming up and at what date. The Dogvacay app sorts bookings by date. Would also like to see some augmentation to the photo portion of the app. Needs the ability to enhance photos with pet related frames & stickers, etc.

I love my job even that they take a % from all the hard work, but they provide the clients and everything. I just find out about a charge for each PayPal transaction but other companies do it too. The only complaint I have about this app is the freaking Calender sucks!!! Can you please make it more user friendly.

This is the most useless app I've ever used. None of the sitters I reached out on this app (2 pre Dog Vacay acquisition & 7 post acquisition) were ever available despite the app/website clearly indicated their calendars were open. This has never happened on Dog Vacay. And just in case you are wondering, I have a corgi mix; not a scary looking dog that might scare people away.

I migrated from DogVacay as a sitter so I am still adjusting to Rover. I think I liked the set up of the DogVacay website and app better but in the past month I have been using Rover I have had consistent business - one dog leaves and I have another reservation booked right after. With DogVacay I only got reservations every once in awhile so I am actually doing much better with my dog-sitting business since the merge. I think the booking process is more complicated than DogVacay's was - that's my main complaint.

Since I've merged to Rover from DogVacay my bookings have increased wonderfully and I'm very happy! But I feel the Rover app could be smoother, for example putting the booked appointments in order by the date and make the calendar more like DogVacay's was. It would also be more convenient if my payment would just automatically go to my PayPal like it did with DogVacay. :)

I can't even get past the log-in page even though I already have an account linked via Facebook. Dogvacay's layout and messaging system was a lot more convenient and easy to navigate. Now I have to uninstall, and I can't even access pictures of my dog on my phone from the sitter. Sigh, what a let down.

In theory a great app, however there's no motivation for dog sitters to reply to you if they are unavailable. A feature that allows you to see how reliably a sitter communicates could help with this. Otherwise you have to send out 10 messages to get 1 reply. Awful.

20% fee from dig sitters plus fees to clients? You should be ashamed! My friend told me about you but after reading reviews and finding out these fees, you're just as bad and greedy as Uber, working on the backs of hard working service providers at their own expenses. I will neither be using Rover nor will be recommending it to my friends. Please change your value, it sucks.

We found an excellent sitter for our dogs thru Rover but I did not see a way to share with others, the sitter we use. With sharing being a huge part of social media these days, I found this rather... dumb. Thus the reason for 3 stars.

Love the website. Hate the app. Could not even log in. It just kept telli g me I was logged in already but wouldn't let the app open. Very frustrating experience.

Rover doesn't care about sitters or dogs. They are just a greedy corporation looking out for their bottom line. That's why they purchased their biggest competition, Dogvacay!

BUGGY APP. There is a bug in the Android version. Using galaxy edge 7 I am unable to upload photos from my phone? I am able take shots from app, but that is all?

messages need to be organised better (a section for active stays/reminder of upcoming bookings would be helpful...) service fees are expensive

Great for my home dog sitting business. My bookings have increased. App is easy to operate. My only complaint is the booking affirmation process is slightly redundant and the inability to bill for bookings post completion.

Not only do they take 20% but they also charge you to take out your money. It's either a percentage taken out of the already reduced 80% you actually make through PayPal or they charge you to mail a check, which doesn't reach your mailbox for over 3 weeks each time. How is that ok for trying to create a business for yourself??

I use the service to book a dog sitting. My credit card charged but no services rendered. My email received tons of spam. No reply from customer service. Actually I will call them customer no service.

Since the merge Rover app doesn't open at all. Just stays on the sign in page. I really preferred dogvacay more.

I understand that Rover is the new merged platform but the app lacks so many critical features that I liked on Dog Vacay - eg. Booking meet and greets, shortlisting favorite sitters based on profile, multiple sorting filers etc. I hope Rover is working to fix these gaps asap!!!

This is a great pet resource for three public.

20 % is a bit much for app overhead especially since it sucks compared to dog vacay.

Very upset about this app! & so are my customers! I was using dogvacay. & i loved everything about it! I loved the badges they displayed on the profiles when you finished their web training. Or got a return booking. It helped alot of customers decide who they could trust with their pet. I also liked how they used stars in the review section. I work really hard when I have a dog booked. & my 5 star reviews dont show up on my profile since the switch. I also liked how dogvacays calendar was highlighted so you could see what you have booked for the week. & it also showed potential customers what you have booked so they can choose the ideal situation for their pups trip. & finally another great dogvacay quality was the "staff pick" while browsing for a sitter. It saved people the effort of reading through profiles that didnt fit their wants or needs in regards to their dog(s). Over all im super unhappy with this app compared to dogvacay. Ill hang on to this app for a little while in hopes things change for the better, but i cant see using this app forever..& its a damn shame.

I've been with both Rover and DV for past year. There are/were plus' and minis' to both platforms. Anyone who says DV was 100% better is flat out lying. Could Rover be better? Sure, we all can. People are complaining about petty things. "Oh I can't send video" Well yes you can, 15 seconds or less. "I can't put a heart on pic" Well yes you can, download an app, modify pic on that and send if its that important. "I can't reach client" Then you shoulda got their real number/email at the meet. All in all, for this type of company they are trying their hardest and I think people need to cut them some slack.

I have done two jobs with Rover so far and have two more lined up. I am very impressed. I like that Rover doesn't charge you credits to send job offers like many other sites do. Instead they take 20% out of your pay. It is easy to communicate with customers.

I'm writing this review as a migrant from DogVacay This app only allows for messaging CONFIRMED dogsitting clients. DogVacay app allowed for ALL messaging to be done in app, even POTENTIAL clients. Neither the app nor the Rover site allow client or sitter to designate a TIME (or time window) for drop off/pick up, only a DATE. Well ppl pick me as a sitter because I have no pets and their pet can't be around other pets. So when there is an overlap in the day someone wants to pick up and the day someone wants to drop off I have to do extra messaging to figure out the time window in order to confirm the pets won't be at my place together. This app does not allow sitter to send pics and/or video THROUGH the app. When the merger took place Rover should have adopted and rebranded the DogVacay app. It was a MUCH better built product.

So not impressed with this app! I'm a boarder for dog vacay. Just transferred my info over and they transferred old info! Then I try to go and update to what I recently had done but it won't let me. I can find the screen but can't click the buttons I want. I sure hope that I don't get a booking at my old price!

I just want a refund! I tried to started dog sitting because I lovedogs and need a little extra money but right now I got another job and I've use my account, not even once! Neithrr to get a service or to give it. Can you guys pleeeeeease tell me how to get a refund of the $10 initial fee???

Really unimpressed by this app. I use Dog Vacay and was recently asked to switch apps. Now I'm trying to update my info because for some reason all my old info was carried over.... From before I updated my DOG VACAY profile which is strange to me. Now I'm struggling to make sure all my clients are aware of the situation and it's really just a mess given that we were all forced to change apps. I hope this gets fixed soon, only then will I change my review rating.

For some reason I keep logging in and then your app just does nothing I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it it does nothing it just stays at the loading screen I'm now forced to go and find another app that hopefully works because I need to book a sitter for a vacation.... not at all happy with this interface. Unreliable.

I love Rover. It's been easy to use and I can quickly respond to all mess ah essay through the app, as well as submit photos and videos as updates! I can modify my calendar and my profile on the app and check my payments. I have had no issues at all.

Great app that helps me keep in contact with my clients while I'm out. Has a great card system for dog walking that shows where we go and what the dog does. Could use a couple of improvement but they may come in the future.

This app won't let me login. It says I'm already logged in through Facebook. I tried logging out but that does nothing. I'm stuck on the home screen. Don't make people switch from DogVacay if this app isn't compatible with all device.

I cant even get into the app, I try logging in with fb and it tells me I'm already logged in, but I cant get into the app at all. Even tried re-installing, and nothing. Aweful.

Can't finish my profile as it will not go on to the next screen after I fill out all the fields. Keeps saying "field required" and it's clearly already filled out. Have already uninstalled and reinstalled twice. Deleting permanently. Great idea, worthless execution.
