Coverage Map

I'm not sure how accurate the map is. Since the when using the data test, it records my phone's original carrier, even when I'm roaming. This and the fact that data points from, for example, Verizon Wireless end up in Canada. And I'm pretty sure Verizon will have none in Canada. Besides this nitpick of things off about the app. The app overall is very usable and useful.

Crowdsourcing no longer supported apparently. Logging dead spots no longer show on map (or falsely show green). Emails to Rootmetrics get automated response only. Once a great app now lost credibility.

Once a great app, now doesnt work anymore on samsung android phones. Dosent run background crowdsource, and wont shoe speed tests anymore on map. This app is trash noe, dont download it

Obviously either Verizon is in control of the results or only Verizon users use this app. Hexes update with data points but map itself does not. Several months and no map update. Open Signal has way more users.

OK when it works, but most of the time it doesn't collect any coverage data on any phone I've used. Developer isn't interested in fixing it.

Defaults to testing wifi. This is a *cell* map app! Must disable wifi to force cell test. Doesn't show current cell strength. -104 dBM at home so dead zone. App's test keeps failing (duh! dead zone) but cannot report. "untested" zones might be untested or the app refusing to submit reports on failed tests in dead zones. Yep, I'm in an "untested" zone but forget reporting it.

Clumsy interface, also the location often refuses to update​ and just stays stuck on some previous location.

This App Really Does Work, But We ((ALL)) Need To Help Out. The App Uses Our Wireless Info, To Create Maps. So You Can't Complain, If You Are Not Helping.

I have solid proof that Root Metrics is registering Verizon speed tests as T-Mobile.

This app is awesome. Gives you a lot of information that I didn't even know existed

It needs landscape mode for tablets. Would be five stars with landscape mode

Speed test fails after even the slightest hiccup in the data connection, including cell changes, often making speed tests impossible to finish. Speed test doesn't continue in "continuous" mode after even a single data "failure". "Continuous" mode is now restricted to only 21 tests. UI is worse than before. Overall this is a huge step backwards for this app.

Its a good app, the company root metrics website shows more comprehensive information and its more accurate than depending on the carriers coverage map. It would be nice if they could add the capability to capture GPS locations where you drop calls or have data loss. Only at&t has a cell drop reporting app and tracks that metric. Not sure if they do anything with the reports but its nice to know its tracked

Wow. Does it ever take longer to change settings with this new UI. Not an upgrade at all! Who came up with this catastrophe of an interface?!?! totally stupid that tests stop with no network, arent the dead zones what people really want you to map?

Results never display on the map in a timely manner if at all. It supposedly phases out old results after a while yet years old hspa speeds on a congested boomer macro cell remain and take presidence over my LTE CA tests and new the new towers I've mapped.

Continuous test stops as soon as the screen turns off and/or locks, then the results show as a loss of data connection instead of 4Glte. This means that the continuous test requires the screen to stay on which is a huge battery drain. What is the point of testing if you can only do so with a full charge and/or on the drive home?!?

Removed the ability for continuous testing for several hours. As a result I rarely use coverage map anymore but instead I use opensignal. Bring back the old way of testing and ill return and contribute again; until then opensignal is where its at.

It's sad to say but the results are rigged, the results from this app compared to the Speedtest app very greatly, I'm assuming because they want Verizon to win their results

3 years ago, RM was #1. Now thanks to horrible revisions it's a distant #4. MyMobileCoverage is #1. CellMapper #2. Open Signal and Sensorly tied #3. Use ALL to learn networks and document weaknesses.

News Flash: in 2016, Verizon purchased RootMetrics (the developer of Coverage Map). Now little more than a Verizon Wireless marketing tool and data plan drainer. Google should pull this app from the Play Store​ until Verizon's vested interest is honestly disclosed in the branding and app description​.

I haven't paid much attention to this app lately but the horizontal slider menu for changing between carriers and type of tests for the map is terrible. This should be an up/down menu box, not what it is now. Takes too long to use. I'm just going to uninstall this if the next update does not correct it.

All I want to know is am I on 4G. Can't find anything in this app. Even though it says it can tell u this

I was lead to believe I could display a map that tracked only my own reception across a geographic area. I was hoping to diagnose a device by comparing the coverage map of one device to that of another.

Sensorly or OpenSignal are a better app. Rootmetrics testing always fails and the maps suck compared to others.

Works great. Really has helped me choose a carrier. Glad to be able to contribute.

You must have a bug in this version as cannot send any testing data points back. Ui is very poor and unwieldy. It took several attempts to get the settings to open on both a S3 and a S5 mini. The previous version of the app functioned much better than this one. Additional on 09/11/16 app failed to carry out 2nd of a 3 test sequence. Tells me I have no coverage when all is working. Vodafone network.

Root Metrics drops to 4th. It improved by eliminating big hex overlay, added back the logical traffic light colors for voice, but still uses terrible blue/red color scheme for data. And it eliminated continuous tests. Sensorly 3rd tied with Open signal maps & Cellmapper. Coverage mapper distant 5th but no longer supporting/updating, and cellumap a distant 6th. But we should use all of them at the same time to create evidence carriers can't ignore. Each collects different data needed to see network problems.

Obviously there is something seriously wrong with this app/data, I average 8-9 mbps everywhere I go with Cricket, I previously had Verizon and the max speed anywhere was 40mbps, no where close the 63 listed and 90% of the time it averaged out to 10-11mbps.

Why does a coverage app need access to my photos and media files? There's no valid reason for this and the new permissions are not explained in the notes. Shady and an invasion of my privacy. Uninstalling this snoopware.

I had this app on my old iPhone and the information was extremely accurate. I have now moved to Android and have to say I am very disappointed, information is very poor and I cannot even compare different providers.

For some reason in Puerto Rico Open Mobile is Verizon. Please fix

15 minutes of testing used 185mb of data

This app shows in the coverage maps as good service and when I test, my signal levels are poor. This makes it false information and untrustworthy. Is Verizon paying money for this to show different? I'm curious.
