Dr. Moku's Hiragana & Katakana

Doesn't crash for me like for other people, but sounds are messed up and jumbled. Other than that, it's a great way to learn the both hiragana and katakana. I wish it were so easy to learn Kanji. You should try adding dakuten to the learning curve, so people will know what they should sound like.

Thank you so much for making this app! My head is like a sieve, so internalising things like this is always an uphill battle. Using this app with your mnemonics is having me retain hiragana so quickly it's almost alarming. I'm going to be working in Japan from next year, so I'm trying to learn as much Japanese as I can before I go. Your app is making the first step so much less daunting. Well worth the money. I can't believe such an effective learning tool is so cheap!

This app is awesome overall, but the sound keeps crashing, which really limits its usability. Aside from that, this is a cute and effective way to learn hiragana and katakana. Please fix this issue!

I loved this app, I even bought the full version but at the minute it keeps crashing on 'learn hiragana.' can't get past more than a couple letters

Bought full version. After emitting around 10 hiragana sounds it stops completely the sound. I have to restart and repeat. Phone is nexus 6p with android 7.

This is the first app I've ever paid for. I really like its simplicity but there are a few bugs that let it down. The audio stops after about 10 cards on the auto play quiz, it won't play even if you tap the sound button manually. The writing quiz doesnt tell you if you are correct or wrong after each card, and it doesn't show overall result at the end. At the end of a quiz the "repeat quiz" does nothing. The main menu can do with a nice skin so it doesnt look like Android default list view. Could do with a full chart of kana for reference so I don't have to switch to another app. 5 stars if those things are addressed. Good app though, I will continue to use it and hope for updates

The mnemonics are great! I did actually learn both alphabets really fast but I'd like better if you could quiz hiragana and katakana at the same time.

Cartoon images help a lot to remember and it is fun. Never get bored learning through this program.

For a language app, I think it's a big issue that the pronunciation of the letters dont match the actual letter. This needs to get fixed

Sound fails after a few samples. Lots of complaints, no comments from developer. No way to use usefully.

Had some trouble with my google account which means i lost all my apps most i could get back but this app i cant, i had laid for the full version and really liked using it. I don't mind repaying for this tho it really does help you.

Definitely worth the money still use it regularly when I forget any of the kana. The visuals really do work to help memorize the kana. Wished they had more sections in the app maybe colours or numbers or visual aids for the words to help make the words stick better or a section with both hiragana and katakana would make it easier to remember and read better.

The good part is that the visual aids to learn basic hiragana are good. Some are a little problematic because the pronunciation is off for American English... Such as 'yu' should be pronounced like 'you', but instead they recommend you which doesn't even rhyme. Another one is 'ko' which they rhyme with copy instead of something like 'cove'. I wish it taught dakuon handakaon and youon... it does quiz them though.

Overall I love this app. I payed to unlock all of the hiragana and katakana because I loved it. I would give it 5 stars but there is a bug that is quite annoying. I noticed that whenever id disconnect from my wifi and use 4gs or another wifi network, the app would often crash. It only worked when I reinstalled it every time I switched networks. I am using it on my s6 edge and I am updated to latest firmware. Please fix! Great app though

I seems like an exaggeration, but it isn't! I learned Hiragana in 1 morning, and Katakana the next day. I highly recommend this app. The teaching system is really effective! I had doubts that it would work, but it really did. It is also efficient at helping you differentiate between the katakana that look very similar. I feel kind of childish learning this way to be honest, but it is so effective! Wish there was a Dr Moku for kanji!

I had this app a couple years ago and everything was FREE. Now I'm looking through the katakana part and there's only HALF I have to pay for the rest. Like WTF.
