Howl: Earwolf's Podcast App for Android
I enjoy most series, especially on going ones. Your acidity was great but over and there is not much else for me. I don't enjoy reviews or people talking tớ gear there self. I guess I like anything with a story in the form of a ongoing series. I rarely watch TV so I listen tớ a lot of otr shows. Thank yoư david
Nothing worked. Podcasts wouldn't stream over cellular or WiFi. Episodes wouldn't download without errors. Just started getting into How Did This Get Made? But I can't rely on this trash app. Pathetic money grab
Such a shame. Great content but unusably bad. Won't download episodes - just launches error messages. Clunky interface. Sometimes it just stops playing. This really needs to be resolved
TL:DR - this app is worthless. Seems like Earwolf is abandoning Howl.fm as a platform since they recommend you transition to Stitcher and this app is severely busted. I would recommend using Stitcher since it will actually play podcasts instead of crashing every two seconds. I love Earwolf but it seems like they arent willing to put in the effort of maintaining their own app. Bummer.
Everyone else already said it. Frequent crashes, random stops and restarts from the beginning, Wi-Fi or 4g makes no difference. This app simply isn't worth more than one star. The pay wall was a good way to screw over fans. This mess of an app is a good way to chase away the most loyal, those who paid. I see an uninstall in this app's future.
Unplayable. I love the content, but am unable to listen to anything successfully. Even after getting a new phone. Canceled my howl membership since I can't listen to anything I pay for. I'm stuck with the few available free episode available on apps that work successfully. Samsung s8
I wanted an app that allowed me to keep tabs on Earwolf's podcasts without having to subscribe to a hundred different podcasts. It delivered. Sure, it had a few bugs, but it was workable. Since joining with Stitcher, they seem to have decided to not deal with bugs and instead make Howl even less pleasant to use. However, Stitcher does not provide what I want (I already have a general podcast app. I just want to keep tabs on Earwolf network podcasts), so I will stick with Howl until they let it decay to the point of absolute inoperability.
As everyone says, the app crashes constantly. Also it won't even play most older episodes anymore, but it's a great convenient way to waste 5 bucks a month, so there's that going for it.
Abysmal. The key idea behind a paywall is that once we pay, you need to let us over the wall. Pay $5.00 a month for exclusive access to a play button that crashes the app and a download button that launches 1000 pop up error messages. Needs to be pulled from the app store, its theft at this point.
I just wanted to listen to the Heynong Man episode. Instead I got a $5 error message :(
App crashes all the time. What am I buying a subscription for??? Fix the app or I'll cancel. Love the content but hate the app
Only error messages all the time. Come on Mr. Scott Aukerman and fix your s**t. I loved the content when it worked but now its unusable.
This is one of the only apps I pay for and it is by far the worst. Shame that all that great content is ruined solely by the platform.
UPDATE: Canceled subscription and deleted the app because it's too buggy and prone to crashes to be usable. A shame because there's lots of great shows here, but what does that matter if the app won't let you stream/download them or traps you in an endless loop of error messages?
Won't actually play the podcast, and it won't let me download episodes either. I've been constantly berated to subscribe so I can actually listen, and when I finally do, I still can't.
Can't believe they're charging for this. Streams fail, app is hard to navigate. Doesn't play on my Android anymore.
Do NOT download. Technical issues within the app make you unable to download episodes, and the interface is horrible. If you have a relative you hate, sign them up for this on their credit card without informing them. Other than that, this app is useless.
Wow. I like howl podcasts and would be tempted to subscribe but this app is trash
majority of downloads do not work & streaming constantly quits mid-episode. This app is a sad piece of trash. don't give these clowns a dime.
Can't listen to podcasts. App constantly crashes. Nothing really works like it is supposed to.
Just skip this and download Stitcher instead.
Great content, junk app.
This was ok for a bit but now it practically doesn't work. Don't buy
Like a shittier netflix
Surprisingly unstable
Broken
Garbage
App works pretty awesome now. Sure they don't have as many features as Podcast Addict or similar but the app works to download & play podcasts just fine. It's nice having the episode pictures integrated like this. The ability to save downloads to SD card would be nice but I'd love a playlist function even more. Or the ability to set custom skip forward/backward option. Auto update would be great too. Seriously though, the large amount of quality content on HOWL makes up for its shortcomings. Definitely recommended!
UPDATE 4/10: unsubscribed howl. Installed stitcher app instead per Howl customer support recommendation. Has the same content at same price, with (so far) stable podcast app. Would recommend doing the same (for now) Borderline unusable due to amount of crashing. And this app is the only way to access the paid-for premium content? Serious issue here...
Howl. This is an embarrassment to your whole brand. Get your s**t together. Your app is insultingly faulty and unintuitive. Figure it out please. Btw just like all the rest: I'll gladly pay for the great content if the app is fixed, but not until then.
I love the content, but this app has a lot of problems. Constant issues with podcasts failing to play - even with downloaded content! Slow menus, difficult to navigate through to episodes for each show, overall very frustrating. I'm ok with putting content behind a paywall, just make the damn app halfway useable!
Big fan of Earwolf podcasts and wanted access to the backlog. This app is terrible. Frequently crashes (100% of the time when I click favorites) and started failing to download episodes altogether. Not sure what happened, but luckily stitcher partnered with them and the app seems much more useable.
I can't get any of my downloads to play. Can't search, or even use their menu guide to find the shows I listen to. It's ridiculous to pay a monthly fee for an app that won't work on my phone. Don't waste your time downloading this.
I feel like this was rushed out. My kingdom for an app that does something as basic as pick up where you left off when you pause it. Now if you pause it, it picks up 30-45 seconds earlier. Basic stuff, people. Miserable app for great content. Garbage. You're KILLING me!
Great podcasts, horrible app. It stops frequently, doesn't work with my bluetooth headphones, poor design(requires a lot of back and forth just to play the next episode). I would have subscribed if not for the terrible app. On nexus 6P
Favorite list never auto updates. Episode lists never update automatically. Audio stops playing every few minutes and then has to be started from the beginning. Overall very crummy app to be using. If there was another way to listen to these podcasts I would uninstall this app.
Great content, but an awful app. Good luck finding your place if you accidentally close the app. I never use it unless necessary to listen to old eps (a BS move from Earwolf). Frustrating and not worth purchasing.
This app is a hot garbage dumpster fire. I have no interest in your proprietary app that does a shittier job than Podcast Addict. I'm only using it to get Howl permium so I can listen to the How Did This Get Made backlog that's behind a paywall. I love fighting with an app, unsubsribing from several terrible mailing lists, and paying for the privilege. Thanks for making a previously effortless task an agonizing series of hoops.
Content is awesome. User interface and app optimization are terrible. Favoriting a show with too many episodes will bog the app down to the extent of nearly freezing. Favoriting is the only way to keep track of what you're listening to. Needs a lot of work. Not sure if I will go beyond my month trial considering my free podcast app leaves this one in the dust...

Ever since the most recent update, this app is entirely useless. I pay for the subscription as I loved the ability to download and play my favorite shows on the go. Ever since the integration of Stitcher, I can only get the most recent episodes and maybe 10 randomly selected older episodes. I even downloaded stitcher to see if it worked any better, and it only has those same episodes. I will be unsubscribing until this is fixed. Great job ruining your app and completely alienating your fan base!
