Sportsnet for Android
Sometimes the app allows you to watch sports, other times it doesn't. Asks you to sign up for app even when you already have it installed. Only good for scores & sports news.
I tried to log in with my Sasktel account so i can stream Sportsnet. The log in kept kicking me out or just taking me back to the original page and not letting me log in. This happened through mobile, xbox, and PC.
There is no logging for Videotron customers, and thus making this a worthless app for every single Quebec subscriber. Videotron is only the biggest media company in Quebec after all. *shake my head* Shame on Rogers Digital Media for omitting most Quebec residents.
The app is poorly organized and even more poorly executed. It will constantly sign you out of your profile at random instances leaving you to have to sign back in through unnecessary multiple steps. If, for any reason, you close the app, open the recent apps drawer or do anything to leave a live video stream, the stream will freeze requiring you to have to sign back in again using the unnecessary multiple steps. It's an exercise in frustration.
App works great on all platforms, the streams video quality is crystal clear now, & everything loads super fast since the new update. For all of the sports content that SN-Now offers (which is a lot!) it's very worth it! P.S: Although I feel that most of my previous frustrations were warranted, I would still like to acknowledge how I was @ fault myself & apologise for it. As well not being able to change my password through the Rogers website was an awful misinterpretation on my part. I apologise sincerely; as this was the root to my frustration. :( Thanks for everything you do & for making such an app available.
The app is fine but the Sportsnet now part isn't really is good. On my mobile devices I can get the app to work ok. Although it can be a bit glitchy. On my Xbox it doesn't work so well. I continuously get kicked out. This is a pain in itself, but I also have to login everytime this happens. I actually have to login whenever the app restarts. This is more or less a new thing within the last couple of weeks. I believe the app has updated and there are issues because of it.
It's great they finally added Chromecast support but it is poorly executed. Streaming is usually pretty good with a 150mb connection but still randomly drops when Netflix and YouTube never do. The fact that you can only cast the channels and none of the videos is quite annoying. There are a number of error messages when I open the app or try to use SN Now. It constantly forgets my login. Would be great if you can watch the games or highlights from the schedule rather than going to Now and finding the channel. Overall a rather frustrating experience.
Of the four big name sports news apps I've tried, I personally like this one the best. While Score and Bleacher Report offer more sports categories for personalization, the article quality is better overall from Sportsnet and I find the look and feel of this app nicer and smoother respectively. Ads are also very inconspicuous. It does crash on occasion but restarting the app is quick and problem-free. Only other negative is that the links at the end of articles are just that, links that open my internet browser; thus accidental taps are annoying. Anyhoo...
It would be great if not for the fact that my feed keeps being dropped on my home network. I'm not exactly sure what is going on (perhaps it's how I have my network configured); but I've will have a dropped connection after 30sec... It's a great way to watch most of my sports (if I could only I could get more of my Mets games I'd be thrilled, I guess that problem is more of the fact that most of the Expos went to the Mets and that isn't really a SportsNet/Canadian issue) other than that I'd be a perfect app.
I've submitted feedback over a year ago. Pull to refresh still fails to refresh, i see a blank white newsfeed and no scores available. This happens on an S7, the scenario is open sportsnet, switch to another app, phone goes to sleep to save power. Unlock and go back to sportsnet and symptoms occur. Any capable QA person would find it. Try on both Wi-Fi and cellular data, it may only happen on Wi-Fi. The app has to be killed, and restarted to work again. Its a shortlived app. A fix is needed.
SN Now streaming is crap quality and crap reliability. All their marketing that claims otherwise on tv commercials is a complete lie. Streaming will constantly stop over and over again for no reason at all. Perfect signal perfect bandwidth on my end. Can stream any other content for hours on end without a hiccup but SN Now on both mobile or browser stops and requires manual refresh constantly.
App provides great information, but cannot watch live events recently (for months now). Please fix! Update: I am a Rogers customer and I still had to uninstall and reinstall the app and redefine my settings for it to work again. Very poor user experience!!
Not sure what everyone is complaining about. The sportsnet now stream worked flawless for oilers game last night. Maybe it's not so much the app as it is the users. The only thing that I found can be upgrade is some of the features while game is on.
Compared with other video steaming and sport apps, this is barely acceptable. I have subscribed as I am following both the Flames and the Blue Jays, but once Calgary is out of the Stanley Cup race I will unsubscribe. Videos are often clunky, low resolution or stop in the middle of a game. Chromecast support is barely functioning and switching between stream is buggy, it often requires to stop casting. The news section is also not as good as the NHL and MLB, that are far from perfect. With the Jays season started, it hit rock bottom... No way to stream a game without audio issues, stream interruptions and 'Video not available' errors all the time. This service is a joke and it obvious Rogers is not serious about that.
Got this for sportsnetnow. Drops continually. Not ready for prime time. The rest ovf the app is ok except real time sports scores which continually show no scores. When using sports net now continually drops video. With chrome cast drops chromecast but still thinks it is casting. Have to shut down restart sometimes to clear casting get so I can restart.
Everytime it updates, the notifications reset and I can't shut them off. The live feeds seldom work properly. In summary, it is pretty much the sub-par crap you expect from Rogers. The only thing that works properly is my Smart Home Monitoring. Why can't the rest of Rogers talk to that department to see how it is done?????
This app is exactly what I need. A quick and easy way to follow all of my favorite teams and keep a close eye on their stats whenever I want. The only thing I'd like to see changed is maybe a NEWS category filtered to just the teams in your favorites. However, like I said, great app.
Better than it used to be and now there is chrome cast support however the quality is still bad even though my Internet is high speed and perfect for streaming everything else. Try watching a sports game when you can barely see the puck or ball. Not a substitute for cable or another streaming service but it could be if quality is improved.
The app is great for stats and scores. But Sportsnet now is a joke. Look through the reviews and you'll see lots of people who have issues Streaming a game. My connection always dropped every 3 to 5 minutes. I tried working with their tech support which wasn't remotely helpful. They wanted me to check my network speed from my phone on a website that required flash (think about that). Thank God I can get some of the playoff games on the CBC app. That works perfectly. Take notes Rogers.
Good app good coverage.I would like more news regionally if I had a choice. E. G. If I was a Toronto Maple Leaf fan and I could get Leaf news, rumors and latest tid bits on your app daily that would make my day!
Terrible app, Play will not allow it to be installed on any of my devices except one. Still cannot get any content to actually stream. Abusive ads also. It's easier to p1rate sports content then to obtain legally! You have to wade through all kinds of crap to find what you are looking for, also cannot watch content already broadcast.
Nowhere do I have NBA notifications turned on, yet I keep receiving game and series updates for the Raptors. The Raptors are completely irrelevant in my life. Pay attention to the settings and don't force sports I don't watch or care about on... or go away. At this point, the only reason I have this app is due to how bad the NHL app is. Don't be worse than the NHL app.
I really like this app. One issue though. And maybe I'm just not looking in the right place, but does this app support Formula 1 racing? Or any racing at all? I'd like the warnings for race starts and to be able to follow drivers...
App endlessly disconnects from live stream. Reconnecting often does not work. When a person asks for support, they are directed to Google support! Really bad. Update. Spending another evening trying to connect to my chrome cast... fun
The streaming quality is not great. I mean, if you already subscribe to cable it's decent but as a standalone subscription it's a complete ripoff. It also makes you login every time which is annoying. If it was cheaper and pirated streams weren't way better quality I would recommend this app.
Everything I open the App it says no scheduled games even though my selected leagues and teams are all highlighted so I have to select everything over again. If this was fixed it wouldn't be bad
The app crashes at least twice per Jay's game. The "watch live" menu isn't the easiest to navigate. Picture quality is great 90% of the time, but fluctuates in each game at random points.
An improvement on their previous model. They block out radio broadcasts of Jays games so you need MLB tv or the radio (non streaming) to get the broadcast. Still primarily use the score app for my sports news. It's been my go to and that app is a little bit more organized
Wonderful app. There are still issues where the home page won't refresh and I have to restart the App, and streams randomly ending when logged in to SN Now but overall a good experience. Casting to Chromecast is amazing for hockey games!
Better score notifications! Scores on Home tab won't load. Score notifications need to be more detailed. A notification just saying "Final Score" isn't very helpful. It should include the score. If scoring notifications are like this as well they should be refined.
It's been a good app until recently. I have not been able to login into my account in the SN Now section and watch the live feed. I would appreciate if this could be fixed. Thanks.
Solid app for live streaming on the go with. On a side: it works on android boxes as well as tablets; not to mention a ported version available through the official Kodi repository. Really wish TSN would follow suite on that, the two apps are practically identical aside from the obvious difference in accessibility.
Its pretty buggy. Have to relogin to the SNnow portion (with Bell account for me) nearly every time and about half the time the score tab doesn't have any scores for today even after a refresh. The app has to be closed and reopened to work.
I like it. Its the 1st app i go to when i need to check a score or stat. My only problem is that when i go on the app, leave without completely closing it, then go back on, nothing will load so it's annoying that i have to close it every time before i want to use it.
Worked just fine until the latest update, now it drops the video all the time, can only get a few minutes at a time. Checked my network and there is no problem with it or my WiFi. Don't see why the videos drop the app doesn't crash.
Games crash at least once per game. Often between 10-20 times even though my Internet is fine, super annoying but better than nothing. If I find something better I'll switch
Everytime I put the Jays game on through Chromecast, it freezes and is constantly cutting out. Very hard to watch when you miss all the plays and when you get back onto it, there is a delay. Please fix asap
Update: Finally some consistency with SN Now. It consistently does NOT work. Has been a month since I have had it work, and notifed their support email more than once. Don't as me what these updates are fixing. TSN Go works fine. Tried 2 different phones. Edit: just revisited this review to remove a couple stars. Easily the buggiest piece of software I have had on a phone. Watching a game only works 1 in 5 times. Fails to refresh content. Shows scores for wrong day. I have to log into NOW almost every time I want to watch something. Embarassing for sportsnet? Or the dev they subbed to? If they didn't own the Jays...
Good sports news source. The personalization features make sure I can find what I want. I don't stream, so I can't speak to that feature. The highlights usually load just fine and display in good quality.

SN Now doesn't work what's up with that? Someone fix this damn issue it's been a problem for awhile now. What am I paying Rogers for, for a crap service?
