About ConvERGE
ConvERGE (Chemical Exposure Goal Assessor) is designed to simplify the calculations of chemical concentrations in soil and ground water that result in the protection of human health exposure. These concentrations represent goals that represent target cleanup levels for individual chemicals present at contaminated land sites and are calculated from published values for both cancer (slope factor) and noncancer (reference dose) toxicological endpoints. All calculations are based upon federal guidance from the US Environmental Protection Agency, as described on their website at http://www.epa.gov/oswer/riskassessment/ragsb/.
Specifically, the calculations used by ConvERGE are taken from this document: http://www.epa.gov/oswer/riskassessment/ragsb/pdf/chapt3.pdf.
