This app allows the user to use their phone as a Wifi Hotspot. It is designed specifically for the LG Optimus F3, but it should work on any Android rom that has /system/bin/ndc (or in some other location), that signifies NetMgr based network configuration.
The app includes a widget to turn hotspot on and off with a single click.
**** REQUIRES ROOT !!!!
**** I have reports that it is not working on non-Virgin Mobile devices. If you have it WORKING on a non-VM device, please post a comment. I am looking into the matter.
When first installed, it will allow you to select the SSID and password. If not using an LG Optimus F3 you might also need to change the radio or wlan device.
You can change the DNS used for connected clients. It defaults to Google's DNS servers.
If you need to change these later, just run the app and click 'Settings'. Changes to settings will not take effect while the hotspot is on.
Turn enable, click the widget - it will animate and turn blue, if all is OK. Just click the widget again to turn off the Hotspot. You can also enable/disable the hotspot using the app by clicking the wifi icon to toggle the mode.
This app uses roottools.

**** If you are having problems, and have previously installed some other hotspot widget, please don't contact me. You need to do a complete "system restore", then install this widget. Many of the other hotspot apps install custom binaries or mess with the system internals, and then this app won't work ! Even a factory reset might not fix it, and you have to use the LG "unbrick" methods.
**** Do not use spaces in your SSID. It may cause the phone to reboot. (should be OK in version 1.2)

After not having the internet for a couple months, and after upgrading my phone a month ago from a flip phone to an off the shelf pay per month entry level smart phone, LG Optimus F3 (v7) through Virgin, I googled around to find a way to make my own mobile hot spot. I rooted with Towel, downloaded this app, took a couple attempts trying to configure, but got my PS3 running on my unlimited $35/mo phone plan in less than 20 mins. I am now streaming Netflix at 1080 HD. Dev, you are a godsend. Thank you!

I tried all the other tethering apps on my freedompop lg optimus f3 nothing else worked but this. Now I have unlimited data tethering for $20 a month on a $30 phone! I just use it as a hotspot & it works great.

Believe me, i've tried them all. After my F3 decided to wipe itself, I used a different method to root (saferoot) and figured i'd try again. found this on top of google, paid the $3 and BOOM! It worked instantly with no hassle. TY SOOO MUCH!

I typed in LG F3 Virgin Mobile WiFi tether, and this app didn't show up. I tried a different paid wifi app, and it didn't work. I went to YouTube, and to make a long story short, a user recommend this app. This app works fine. My other device wasn't picking up the WiFi at first, so I rebooted my phone. Not really sure if it was necessary, but my other device found the Wifi and was able to connect.

There is an issue with your app.. before data cap everything works as it should and only disconnects if left sit unplugged. But soon as data cap hits the hotspot errors like crazy.. very slow page loads as if your hack fights against the cap wall. Again before the data 2.5gb everything works fine.

Was able to run wifi only tablet through my F3. Installed Opera Mini on my tablet and used standard browser to test web surfing. Works well enough with phone in 3g, would be even better with 4g.

Ok so at one time I had a couple of apps that work on my f3 for a hotspot but after some sorr of update on my network settings they stopped. This was months ago. Today i found this and it worked like a charm and only took seconds to set up. Great Job Guys you are awesome :)

I've rooted my device. Tried changing DNS servers it keeps saying cant toggle wifi...any suggestions?
