Roamy - Data Limiter for Android
Better than Onavo Count & My Data Manager, test it yourself......
Traveling abroad is expensive, especially when using your smartphone to look for the best local eatery, hotel, or cab service when you’re enjoying that trip far away from home. After all, your smartphone has to roam for that right? What’ll that cost you?
Enter, the Roamy app. It’s the smartphone’s answer to restricting costly roaming charges so you can spend your hard earned cash on fun and not a phone bill. It's time to start saving money by reducing data usage.
The Roamy app allows you to enable or disable as many apps in your smartphone as you like. Just manually choose the apps you want to have Internet access while you’re traveling. Then take it one step further and choose just how much access you want them to have. Roamy puts the power back in your hands: you set the data limit.
Put it this way, the Roamy app makes sure the only thing you bring home from a trip is souvenirs.
Now we all know you’ll spend some cash roaming right? It’s inevitable. But you can monitor that too so there’s no surprises when you get back home. With Roamy, monitor how much money you’ve spent on roaming charges while you’re abroad. Roaming fees can be seen in various currencies, like USD ($) or the Euro (€). For your convenience, Roamy can track your roaming charges per country in your own currency.
That’s the convenience you have with Roamy when you’re abroad. Now what about when you’re home? Well, you can stay well within your data plan when using Roamy within your home country too. We’ve thought of everything here.
Could it be simpler?
International travelers can now limit data usage across their favorite apps like Facebook, WhatsApp or TripAdvisor. After all, what would a trip abroad be without social networking and info on that best local eatery?
Roamy is particularly useful in the following cases:
1. Keep using Whatsapp when travelling. Just use Roamy to only allow Whatsapp internet access and you're done. Did you know you can sent 500 - 1000 messages with just 1 MB? You can even set a data limit (for example 1 MB), when the limit is reached Roamy will block Whatsapp from further internet access.
2. Looking for that special beach or a nice restaurant but don't know where to go? Use Roamy to only allow Tripadvisor and find what you are looking for. Roamy allows you to safely use data when abroad by only allowing Tripadvisor internet access.
3. Did you ever wonder whether your phone bill is correct? By using Roamy you can measure how much data you consumed, you can even set the view from MB to $. Now you have a way to verify your own data usage.
4. Don't want to block individual apps? Just use a global limit that applies to all apps, internet access will be available until the limit you set is reached. This option can be used at home and abroad
Seems cool in concept, but I want the premium functionality. Unfortunately, all attempts to upgrade have been unsuccessful, as the app will not take my payment (in any form).
Can u add support for WiFi also? I like the features in blocking internet but am looking for a intuitive app like yours to replace no root firewall. Thanks!
I used this last year when camping to conserve data on my galaxy s4. I later that month switched to s6 and could no longer use it. It has been over 6 months and still no support for s6. I wanted to buy the premium version but I can't even open the app with out it crashing.
Why does Roamy use a significant amount of battery even when its main toggle switch is off?? I like Roamy when I'm abroad but on my home network it should not use any resources.
On my old Moto G 2013 it was working perfectly, on my new Oneplus x it's not. Roamy notifies me I should enable data roaming, but it is already enabled ... ( only one sim is used, other slot is free)
This app saved my life while abroad! Must have and must buy so you can fully use it. The main reason I needed data was for Waze and occasional email checking, and Roamy provided a safe, cheap way to get those without drowning my bill on extra expenses. Completely recommended!
I had premium for one day. Then I've received update to Android M. From that time App crashes at every start. It's 100% reproducible. So it become completely unusable.
The app is perfect! Tried to go to premium but failed. Will rate five stars when premium is available.
Running stock marshmallow. Crashes every time I try to start so it's basically useless. I'd appreciate developer feedback please.
Good app but in the middle of my trip, my phone updated to MM and Roamy isn't compatible with MM. Developer needs to update or the app will become obsolete.
Works very good and I used it a lot, however there is no support for Android M yet
What about a daily global limit option?
per-app BANDWIDTH THROTTLING limits without root for all type of connections.
Not Android 6 compatible for more than a year!
I purchased the full app and suddenly it asks for vpn...seriously? I want my money back and i'm reporting the app.
stopped working on Android 6 and crashes on launch
Crashes on android 6
I will defiantly purchase the paid version soon.
Like the auto sync features. Hope the app will be available for iPhone soon.
I have been using “ roaming control” but it was not so helpful so I was looking for a good app. Unfortunately, my friends suggested me ROAMY. This is a very nice app. Now I can have control on data usages, thus phone bill would be less. I have exact data about my usages during roaming period. So I can judge the bill whether it’s correct or miss charged by operators.
Nice app. Much easier to control the data this way. 2 drawbacks: battery consumption, and it didnt work after my htc9 updated to 6.0
After I installed it on my LG G4 (Android Lollipop) it crashed immediately. Tried to stop the app and restart it, same thing happened. Useless if it isn't working. Worthy if it was.
The app should also allow daily roaming plans not just monthly. My provider provides me 60MB on a daily basis when roaming.
Uses more battery and data than ANY of my apps. I paid for this, yet they couldn't be bothered to reply to my mail with a problem I had
Limited me to 3 apps in use despite the fact that this should be the first day of a trial period. How long is the trial - 5 minutes?! Then set it to those 3 apps & it crashed Good idea but very poorly implemented. Update: responded to Dev but no reply or help!!
Android should have this build in, but it's not. When Roamy works it's great. But often it gives an error setting up the connection and then there is no way to restart the app. All you can do is reboot the phone to get it working again. Wish it was more stable, then I would gladly pay for this app.
Every smartphone OS should come with this functionality, IMHO, but none does. Roamy solves that. Now, I can set per-app data limits while roaming, which are automatically enforced... allowing me to continue using Waze uninterrupted, but automatically cut-off my Spotify before I use up all my roaming data allotment and lose navigation! I can even configure it to allow me some Spotify roaming every month, but cut-me off before I would get cut-off by my network and lose nav! Terrific! Zero impact while not roaming or on Wi-Fi, unless I ask it to manage non-roaming data also. Zero competition. Very clever solution. Why are there only 5k installs? Does nobody else want to manage their roaming data??
Can't understand why this has only a thousand downloads. I tend to forget how much data apps use in the background. Even apps that I have never used but once still regularly ask for Internet. For this reason I'd like to always be in control of my data usage. Will there ever be a feature to use this on WiFi?
The app is simply awesome to have control on roaming charge. Total value of money. Recommended!
I will defiantly purchase the paid version soon.
keep using whatsapp and had hardly roaming charge at the end.
Like the auto sync features. Hope the app will be available for iPhone soon.
Honestly can't say this is that great of an app. It missed a huge feature and that is the ability to allow or disallow apps over wifi. When most travel there are abundant wifi networks and the ability to use them. Why does this piece of junk software allow or block agnostic of the connection type? Why not allow some apps to use wifi and not roaming data and some to use both, etc...? Seems like a very common sense feature. Edit: The dev really doesn't get the idea. Use NoRoot Firewall instead. It's fully featured for this common sense feature and doesn't have a cringeworthy dev plus it's free and unrestricted unlike this junk. Also the free version limitations are NOT described in the Play Store description. Don't support this junk. 0/10
Despite Roamy telling me all my apps were restricted, skype was able to run in the background as well as other phone services. Fortunately the damage was under 20usd. I'm never trusting this app again.
Only 3 apps can be unblock for data in the free version
Not free , this fersion allows only 3 unblocking apps....ridiculous....and asking for vpn conection with all access to my personal informations and all password full intermet access
The Dav has done a great job, thanks for the nice app
Limited me to 3 apps in use despite the fact that this should be the first day of a trial period. How long is the trial - 5 minutes?! Then set it to those 3 apps & it crashed. Good idea but very poorly implemented.
Why does this tool need so much access to my phone?

Looking for support, seen someone else on Facebook (Silviu) had the same issue back in October 2015, but no fix.
