Ring - Always Home for Android
Not to happy with it. It does not capture every movement. I can leave and the camera capture it but I can come back and it does not even capture me coming back. It hit and big miss on what it captured. The two way talking does not work well either. Can't hear on my phone or on the device but static. Basically any wind blowing and static. Well it's wind at my place everyday. Picture is not clear either. At least not like it is on TV. Still looking for something better.
Ring.......what is going on ??? This app was good prior to the latest upgrade or bug fix. I have a Galaxy S6 and Sprint is the carrier. I'm not getting any sound notifications at all. The only notifications I'm getting is the screen notif. It comes on so quick, I hardly know it shows. My phone does light up and/ or the screen will turn on because of the motion but there's no sound and it's mind boggling. And no sound when the door be rings. I called Sprint, all my settings are set correctly. I called Ring, they walked me thru everything, even resetting the door bell. I uninstalled the app, played with the settings and still no sound, nothing. This is truly, truly annoying!! I do depend on this app just like everyone else. I would like if someone from Ring will assist me with this issue and correct it asap !!! Thank you.
I just emailed ring to help everyone who's having problems connecting to live view using the network providers connection via LTE and not through Wi-Fi. When connected via Wi-Fi the live view works but when Wi-Fi is off, live view becomes obsolete. Solution to this is switch your network mode from LTE to GSM or WCDMA only and watch how live view instantly works. Hopefully ring will fix this issue on their end as well.
Having an impossible time trying to connect the live view. It just doesn't work as advertised. Multiple attempts by RING support to fix problem, without success. It seems to me that this product should have had more development before releasing it to the consumer. Beware of you buy one of these things. It may not work very well if at all. No real help from support.
App keep crashing on my phone. Now the doorbell is worthless to me because I can't open the app on my phone. Incredibly frustrating after everything we went through to get the darn thing installed. Oh, and we bought the Ring Pro so our inside doorbell chime would also ring, but, even after installing a new transformer, that doesn't work either. I do NOT recommend this product.
Will not let you set your own ringtone for when someone rings your doorbell. The one included sounds awful and the doorbell should have multiple sound options and/or a way to upload your own. A vibration mode would also be great! Most importantly, there should be a option to have the motion sensor be on during certain hours only to protect your house at night for instance.
Horrible UI and IX. Very confusing to use. Keeps forcing me to the install screen (when I've already installed it) and has weird layouts and naming conventions. I've used everyh major camera out there (Nest, Canary, Vivint, etc.) and this experience is the worst of them all. I was hopeful it would be better. Ring needs to invest in getting better people and products.
I like the app, it's nicely designed and looks good. The issue I have is every screen I enter I get a message saying an error has occurred but it still enters the screen anyway. Also, will not allow me to sign up to a plan as I get a "no such customer" plan. This is also stopping me using my referral codes.
Most of the app works well enough, but I am having major issues with the notification settings. This app ignores the system "Ambient display" setting, which means it wakes the screen every time it sends a notification. This means the screen automatically turns on and accepts garbage touch input when the phone is in your bag or pocket, which is a BIG problem. If I'm forced to disable all notifications to keep the screen from turning on randomly, that defeats the whole point of remote alerts.
This app is useless. Everytime there is motion or a ring at the doorbell, the app can't connect to my phone, which means I can never view or speak to who is at my door. There is not a problem with my phone, wifi, or cellular connection. Without this function, what is the point? If it is not fixed, I will have to return the doorbell. 100% dissatisfied at this point.
My Ring was working fine until they changed the night video recordings to black and white. Ring didn't even allow for it to be an option. What good is the security if you can't tell what someone is wearing and/or what color car it is, when your motion goes off? What kind of service is that? Called customer service and all they could say was sorry, maybe one day there will be an option. I have 2 and now it only serves it purpose during the day. I guess surveying the customer, no longer exists. Since my last update, no changes. Wanted to get the flood light camera but afraid night recordings will be in black and white like the ring videos, regardless of suffient lighting
The Ring Video Doorbell Pro is all but useless when used with Android 7 devices. App is rarely ever able to connect to live streams whether triggered by events or manually initiated. Seems to work great with my wife's iPhone which connects quickly. Anxiously awaiting an app update that works....
If I could give less than one star I would. Again the doorbell lost the connection and I was chasing the postman down the road. This is too unreliable and I will never but another ring product. Having to take the cover off and run through the set up for no reason is not good enough. Even if the power fails it should be able to reboot with previous settings. If the internet connection is lost the app should at least notify you the the device is not connected. How else would I know that without checking every day.
Camera response slow and choppy, sometimes misses parts of the recording, broken audio. This limited quality does not warrant a monthly fee in my opinion. The thing I like most about it is that I can see who's ringing my doorbell UNTIL they nail you with a monthly fee. It would be worth it if it was one-time purchase to view your recordings, at least the last five! But if you don't pay the fee you cannot check any recordings. There are better options out there for free or paid.
I've started using this app with my doorbell pro for a few days and does work pretty well. However, I cannot believe the app does not include the option to change the sound notifications so you are stuck with the wind chime for motion detect and doorbell ring sounds. The Motion Detection disable scheduler is also not working like it should. I still get motion alerts on days and times I set the schedule to disable the motion detection. Please fix!
Can't change or control the ring tone volumes. Also no option to chime without turning on phone screen. No good when the phone is in your pocket because with the screen coming on buttons get pressed. Sort these out and would be a much better system
Not horrible, but not great. As far as changing the ring tone you can use an app called Notificon from the play store. This app does freeze almost every time I delete events. It's a pain.
At first it worked. Then I was getting a weak Wi-Fi status alert. So I actually upgraded my Comcast. Now it says that the Wi-Fi is good and the power is very good. I am no longer receiving alerts. I have reset, uninstalled, done it all over and over again. My wife's phone is having the same issue. Not happy at all as the app doesn't seem to truly know why you can't connect and that makes troubleshooting very frustrating. I would take it back if I could.
The app was working well before the past few updates. Since then I am unable to view Live feeds or answer any rings using cellular data. Once I am connected to WiFi, it works great. Please update the app to fix this issue as it seems I am not the only one. Will change review once this issue has been resolved. Working with support doesn't help much either. 2 calls and not any further. Update: Support was not able to resolve issue and will probably require an app update which has not happened in a while.
Damn app keeps crashing. Uninstalled and reinstalled and still crashes. Doesn't do me any good when I get an alert and can't access the camera to check on things. Makes the camera worthless!
It seem every updates from this app, I have more problems using it. Developer need to do a better job. Six months ago, I use a note 2 phone to check my ring. After update, every time I open the app is freeze, like blackout and none responsive. I had to get another phone. I have a s7 now and everything works fine but after this last update. I can't view live anymore. It's not the Wi-Fi, I checked but that's what the app keep saying. POS. Useless if you can't view live.
Called customer they were great. But Every since latest update app freezes on live view or trying to see motion viewing app freezes phone have to restart s8plus.
I'm getting extremely tired of this thing working when it wants to... When I first installed it, I had no issues and everything worked fine. As of lately I don't get notifications and the live view quit working. The other day someone knocked on the door and and I didn't receive a motion notification, then when I tried to look at the live view it pulled up a black screen! What's the point of having it installed? I reset everything as if it was brand new, and now it's hit and miss... Sometimes I get notifications, sometimes I don't. Maybe it's time to start looking at competitors products. I think I wasted my money.
Sucks. Good wifi connection. Live worked once hasn't worked since. App says live view will work after next motion event. Does not after several events. Complete waste of money. And they want you to pay for storage which is never mentioned in sales pitch.
This app keeps going down hill. It's very unpredictable to the point I don't even know when it will feel like working or not. Like everyone else I'm becoming frustrated. Also, even with appropriate settings it can still be way too sensitive.
Great idea but every 2-3 weeks it decides to go offline randomly. We do a health check and everything is great, my wifi is literally 3 feet away, great connection but still goes off for about a day or two. No reason. Troubleshooting unfruitful. Have to reset or just wait it out. Why bother? Support suggests upgrading, yeah no thanks.
App is somewhat unstable running on various incarnations of Android, occasionally crashing when I try to view a video. Video quality is nowhere near what is depicted online. The camera may serve as a deterrent to to some porch thieves but not all. Unfortunately, response time for the warning system can take up to 10 minutes! Also will occasionally record just a black screen with no video.
Can't believe it that good hardware is accompanied by such a bad app. Can't even enter my address. I'm picking correct address from a suggestion box, but it enters a wrong one. Test your WiFi and notification troubleshooter show 404 errors. Not to mention poor design, the app doesn't even look like an Android app. Update: downgrading from 2 to 1 star. The camera detects motion, but when I play the recorded clip, all I see is still picture. It used to work fine.
Works great for about an hour or two after installing or resetting, then no notifications and can't access live view. Incredibly disappointing, I tried with / without WiFi, power save on / off, clearing data / cache on my phone, resetting my phone, even uninstalling then reinstalling. I had to take the stupid doorbell off the wall, and reconnect to Wi-Fi to get it to work for 1-2 hours, then it goes dark again despite saying it's connected. Seems to work on my wife's iPhone just fine.
Since last update, live view does not work. Motion capture is now spotty. I tested it by walking right in front of cam but didn't record. Wanted to check if something odd happened to motion settings but, yep you got it, motion settings screen not working. Useless. Don't buy.
Live video is hit or miss. I have my stick up camera hooked up to usb with wifi displaying "good" and yet still it won't connect intermittently. Really is frustrating when u have to reset the camera manual to get it to connect again to wifi. When it works I love it though.
Im using version 1.8.121 I keep getting color distortion which leads to false notifications. This is only happening after the new update. Also, I will get a movement notification 30 minutes after the event occurred or a notification but when I log on, it doesn't show there was actually any movement. *It's been a couple of weeks and no fixes. It's time to correct the issues!!
UPDATE 8/3/17 I just got off the phone with customer service and after receiving the chime pro through them and helping me set everything up, my floodlight cam is 100% working with no more black screens. I changed my review to 5 stars now because their customer service worked hard with me on the phone to get this to work. Seems the metal under the roof underside was interfering with the wi-fi so i not only needed the chime pro but it had to be placed very close to the cam itself. No more issues. Thx Ring customer service.
Really disappointed. This app rarely works when it does im really suprised. Most of the time the person walks away from the door before I even have video. My CCTV system works so much better and is much more stable.
Why is there not an option to change the notification ringtone for this app or to turn vibration on/off for alerts?? This is a huge oversight.
Love the hardware shame the floodlight product is not yet in UK as would snap that up. As for app there is lots of room for improvement. Mostly I would like to see more customizations such as ability to change default recording period for motion alerts to at least 1 min as 30 seconds is just too short and also ability to set different chime for a different camera. Surely this is in roadmap would love to hear feedback before I buy more.
Complete junk on Android s8+ , whenever I tap an alert it goes to attempt to load the camera feed on it just crashes or hangs. I have a mesh network and get WiFi signal two houses away and clocking 220 Mbps down and 60 up
Worst doorbell. Do not waist your money. Just look at how many 1 stars it has that should tell you a lot. I've reset it. Reinstalled the app you name it and once again it doesn't work at all! My home was broken into and this thing never recorded a thing. Thank god I have an alarm system. I have had to delete the app. To remove the device and so on so many times I've lost count. I have to charge it every week that's with the motion set to off and when you have to remove the device you loose all the recordings you pay for them to store!!!!!!! As I'm writing this it once again will not work. It will not ring it will not do live view it will not detect motion it says it has a good wifi connection and 100% battery but it has not detected movement in 9 days!!! Including the break in. My freinds and myself where on my front porch all day not ones did it work. I can tell you so much that's wrong and what I've been through burn who would read it all. Of your just looking and haven't purchased don't
Notifications don't work and siren doesn't sound. I set this up to keep people from stealing my trash but now I get to watch them do it after the fact. Not what I was going for especially after shelling out 250 for the floodlight.

I have the Ring Doorbell, 2 stick-up cameras, and 2 solar panels. I like the convenience and that it doesn't have to be hardwired into my house. I just wish that the cameras and app would work like advertised. I agree with a lot of the other reviewers. The devices and wifi are all working per device health, but they miss a lot of motion and pick up a lot of vehicles. I have gone through troubleshooting steps numerous times with no results. It's a good product, but could be a lot better.
