About BetterPoints

Change is hard. It’s easier just to keep on doing the same thing, even though it may not be the best thing to do for yourself or for your community.

We believe in becoming Better. BetterPoints are given out under programmes sponsored by partners such as councils and public health bodies who want to see people change for their own benefit as well as others.

To help motivate you to start doing something new, we reward you with BetterPoints. We believe it’ll help you realise the extra perks of that change, be it in your health, sense of wellbeing, wallet or impact on the environment. Connect with others who are making a change in your community too and we can all benefit.

BetterPoints aren’t like gold coins you win in a game app, they actually relate to real things. Redeem them at your favourite shop, or give them to a charity or organisation that can do even more good with your donation.

All the time you’re telling us what you’re doing, you’re helping councils and public health bodies gather evidence that can help them do even more good, such as showing which is the most visited local park, where people like to cycle through a city, or how many people attended a Fun Day.

To get going, just register, download the app and check out in ‘Earn’ how you can get BetterPoints by making a change. It could be the best decision you make today.

Can't start an activity tried several times. Just hopeless!

I like the idea of the app, but it has a few issues: 1- Incorrect GPS track: it doesn't work correctly, since the GPS "jumps" from one position to another (today it showed 3 miles of which only 1 was qualifying!) 2- Activities: they take a while to load on the screen when they are finished, and Betterpoints are shown only after a while (although they are awarded below my profile pic, they aren't shown at the same time under the last activity) 3- Measurements: I'd like to set the metric system as default one, but I can't change the imperial one

Opens much more quickly and I think it's better to have the news separate

One if the best fitness reward programmes out there. I was able to claim & use a voucher (for Evans) all online - nice. The syncing has improved but the new Always-on background tracking option, whilst nice, is inaccurate (in terms of guessing the activity) and a pretty heavy battery drain - typically 10%.

Love this app. You get points by traveling by bike or walking etc and you can use them to get vouchers or even to donate. Amazing!

W70%
by W####:

Very easy to use. Had enough points for a £10 voucher after just over a month of using. The voucher I wanted to redeem wasnt working properly so I contacted support and got a very quick response and was sent my voucher the next day which I was impressed with. Thanks Betterpoints

This app is a really good idea but unfortunately I can't use it. Please arrange it so that I can link my Garmin GPS watch data to my Betterpoints account and I'd use it all the time. Unfortunately my phone is too old to run the app and I can't take my tablet out running with me.

Can't sign up, it won't accept my email address, absolutely useless.

Great idea..in fact wonderful idea except it's unreliable. Which is annoying when you have run, or cycled a fair distance to see it showing no milage... Arghh...it appears to freeze. My Strava app working in background runs a treat!

C70%
by C####:

A good idea but the app is poor. It does not track my cycles or when it does track them does not upload and deletes it.

H70%
by H####:

The idea is good, but the GPS tracking really doesn't do what it should. There's a 'background tracking' option, which nibbles battery, but doesn't seem to detect movement very often. You can tell it that you're off for a walk or a cycle, but it tracks very badly (yesterday I apparently swam across the river before travelling in a straight line straight through numerous buildings and then giving up entirely half way through my journey)

D70%
by D####:

Everytime I start it for walking, it either jams, so I have to restart my phone before I can complete or it doesn't register a walk at all, even though I start it & complete as if there is nothing wrong.

Great app! Works really well and the points add up quickly ;-)

Hi. App works as expected, but has significant issue. When I stop activity and turn off application, battery is being consumed more than usual. It happens only when I stop using app and if I force stopping app in options, battery is not drained. Not sure what is exact connection, but battery report shows only wi-fi running. Please, examine it and I will be glad to increase the note :)

D70%
by D####:

The last release seems to be less reliable when tracking. It doesn't always track properly meaning that a couple of times recently I've lost points on two 30 min walks. It registered the start but not anything else, including the end. So 0 miles and 0 points. My phone hasn't changed so something else has?

by D####:

Good rewards and options for redeeming but the app can be frustrating. It uses a lot of memory plus a lot of extra memory for data. I have to uninstall it to update it and other apps. It is very slow to load when an activity is already running and very slow to respond when completing an activity. A streamlined version would be great. A great idea though.

D70%
by D####:

Great idea. App works well most of the time. Occasionally a bit slow. More detailed example of how to use the whole system would be helpful for newcomers. Help desk very effective.

D70%
by D####:

Nice idea if only I could remember to launch it before setting out. Without internet access it tends to freeze, sometimes on the overly long splash screen but more usually on the orange "Start New Activity" screen which appears blank without icons; thus rendering it impossible to record an activity. Also, it seems to consume loads of battery power compared to other tracking apps which suggests the coding might not be the most efficient. Clearing the cache sometimes helps when it freezes and was essential the last time there was an update. On the plus side, the rewards look worthwhile and there seems to be good monitoring and active feedback by the developers.

Great app, love how it gives me total journey and qualifying journey. If only it didn't use so much of my battery. Lol

C70%

Areas covered by app need to extended, I live in Birmingham but don't work there, so any activity I don't undertake in Birmingham doesn't give me any rewards points, so makes the app pretty redundant for me.

D70%
by D####:

I am not getting points from the past 3 days. Its very bad. Please work on it.

D70%
by D####:

Since the points earning system changed in Birmingham it's very difficult to work towards any rewards.

E70%
by E####:

There is no opportunity to gain points for using public transport in Birmingham, and you can only collect points in valid parks, none of which are a reasonable distance from me

What happened to Bus, Car share, Train, Tram and Volunteer?

D70%

Very easy to use, good motivation for getting active!

D70%

I love the app and use it for walks, running, cycling. But there are options missing on my record activity menu. I don't have car share or bus etc. Plus I'm not getting some rewards whereas my partner is getting more points than me for the same activity. U think it happened after the last update.

D70%
by D####:

A real boost to my eagerness to get outside and excercise. Rewards are always tempting too! I had a few questions to changes in reward schemes, and one glitch that customer care were brilliant and quick in sorting out. Would recommend to anyone.

D70%
by D####:

It takes ages to start, and to complete. In fact I can't complete for 2 days now. Trying restarts and reinstall, it still records nobody knows what.

D70%
by D####:

Nice idea but not incountry.

O70%
by O####:

It's pretty good overall but I have to check it regularly as it goes to sleep pretty often and so the tracker drops out and it cuts off distances, so I don't get full credit for long exercise. This is a pain as I have to get my phone out regularly when running to check it's still tracking, and often it isn't. I've lost lots of points because of this.

C70%
by C####:

Earning while exercising. What a great idea! You can not find this reward system in any city outside of Birmingham to encourage people to do some activities in the park. Brum people are lucky

D70%
by D####:

The idea is great but this app is really heavy in terms of processor and battery usage.

D70%
by D####:

The latest update in May 2015 has broken this app. It no longer records journeys. Encouraging rewards of real value but time consuming to use. It was getting better. Very slow to respond to key presses and performs badly in areas with no internet connection. Avoid unless you really are desperate for the rewards.

Earn rewards for everyday activities

D70%

I love the concept of this, giving people incentives to get active. I enjoy collecting the points on my daily commute by bike. Unfortunately, I have to agree with some other comments that the app is quite slow. Since the last update it's started to not find my location either or lose it during my cycle. When it does works though, it's good and if encourage people to still try it out.

The app, and in particular the activity tracking, seems to be much better now. Good stuff!

Aplikacja jest strasznie wolna. Przy języku angielskim nie mogę zmienić mil na kilometry. Do korzystania zachęcają jedynie prawdziwe nagrody.

Q70%
by Q####:

App is good enough, few nagging things such as speed / accuracy. But this I could overlook if they implemented widgets. So I can just start or stop my tracking without opening the app.
