Maestro for Android
You can also change the key signature, time signature, and clef, and choose the instrument you want to hear played. It’s fast, fun, and easy to use. Maestro is currently in beta testing, and we would appreciate your feedback.
This app is perfect for someone like me who is doing grade 6 music theory (composition question with modulation) however is far from perfect. I'd be happy if the devs of this app have a patreon or something we can donate to, in order for them to make this app amazing. As it is very very useful. there are some bugs such as in the tuning pipe(?) Part the screen is rotated and 3/4 of it is cut off, also, the note disappears when I try to place and I have to listen to get near the right note. I would love to see multiple staves and the ability to put more than one note at the same time (chordal music). Otherwise, great app.
Works amazing for an app in beta. It has lots of great options. Even though the use of them is not the greatest, they are there. On the pitch pipe I would enjoy being able to tap somewhere else on the screen to have the pitch stop playing, instead of needing to hit the back button.
Right away, I noticed that it was clearly sized for phones. Not horrible. But then I tried placing one note.. but it didn't even show me the note until I placed it, and it wasn't even close. There are more problems with it.. but that's all I am going to say. At least it works though.
This app is excellent!! I'm a singer, so I use it to help me learn the more difficult lines in my music when I am not near a piano. With its simplicity I can place the music and be memorizing within minutes. It also allows me to focus on lyrics and technique which often get compromised when I play the piano at the same time. Good job!
I am not able to access the complete pitch pipe.. it shows a "zoomed in" screen where only A# and B are available for selection. *Please fix this* .. Metronome and Notation editor are very easy to use.
Great little app IF it works on your phone (worked well on a friend's phone) doesn't work on the S6. Last updated in 2011. Looks like it's been abandoned.
On my Note 2 running 4.4.2, several things don't work: 1. In Notation Editor, attempting to drag in a new note plays a sound for each position, but no new note appears on the display. 2. In Pitch Pipe, only the first two and a half pitches are visible, and the display is always in portrait mode.
...but lightyears behind iPad notation apps like Symphony Pro. If there was some indication of a bright future for Android music notation software I would gladly contribute some cash, but it sadly doesn't look likely. Hence I'm going to be forced to buy an iPad, which makes me sad.:-(
I had to learn a piece of music but I don't sight read. So I got this app, copied in exactly what was on the sheet music, hit play, and voila! Now I can learn it by ear. Entering the notes is easy. One question though- can you not change time signature in a single file? I had to make two files since it switched in the middle. Slightly annoying but still this app is awesome.
The drag and drop doesn't work very well on my phone. It could use a repeat sign, and the ability to bar groups of eighth notes at least.
I've always wanted a decent music notation app for my phone, and this one has really exceeded my expectations with its ease of use. It's got a ton of potential; keep the updates coming! One thing I'd like to see updated is the range of notes that I'm able to write- currently the limit is only two ledger lines above or below the staff.
How does this app even work? I keep dragging the rest on the staff, but nothing is happening. You can't even change the time signature.
Just one thing is I cant write alot of tuba music if I cant put in a low B flat for a tuba part. But other than that writing some parts for trombone or trumpet is awsome.
The notes won't show up where you want them, the pouch pip only has A, A#B*, B, and C everything else is not on the page. This is a crap app. The only almost good thing on it is the Metronome.
This is the most promising composing app ive seen so far, but the lack of chords and multiple tracks kills it for me. A tablet interface would also be nice!
On my nexus 7 the vertical position of the notes is seriously messed up which makes the app unusable. If the notes appeared in the right place it's just what I was looking for.
This is an awesome app. I'm not that great at piano yet so the notation editor really helps learning music. But on my Droid DNA the pitch pipe only has a B and no other pitches to choose from. Would EASILY be 5 stars if that gets fixed.
1) My biggest critique is that the range of each clef is limited. The cello can't go much higher than an E-flat on the A string, and it doesn't look like I can change clefs in the middle of the piece or arrangement I'm making. 2) I get that the viola is the perennially unloved instrument of the orchestra (and has a weird clef no other instrument has), but it should be included! I like arranging music for string quartets. 3) I really like the pitch pipe and tapping your own metronome beat!
If I could suggest two things to add it would be chords and MIDI import/export. Also, as others have said, you gotta address triplets.
I reall like this app. It's not super fancy or difficult to understand, and it has all the functions a casual player transcriber like me needs. My only challenge is that it doesn't have the alto clef. I'm a viola player, and it really disappointed me that the clef I use is missing. I'm going to keep the app for the pitch pitch and metronome, but it be great if the alto clef could be added so I could make proper use of this app.
Its just the best APP EVER .I didn't know how some signs sound like and this teach me how,its just AWSOME
I can't see the notes when I pick them up, but when I put them down on the staff, then I can see them. Uninstalling it.
Right away, I noticed that it was clearly sized for phones. Not horrible. But then I tried placing one note.. but it didn't even show me the note until I placed it, and it wasn't even close. There are more problems with it.. but that's all I am going to say. At least it works though.
This app has many problems. There is no connection of beams (which, granted, is common even among some better composition apps), the note placement doesn't support ties, the note placement engine is awful and buggy (placing notes also scrolls the staff away from where you want to place), and it supports only a couple octaves of notes with no midsong switching of clefs. Fix these issues (as it is in beta), and it may be usable.
This app used to work great until I upgraded it, now the notes don't move on to the staff with ease or accuracy, maybe the next upgrade will restore back it's prior functioning
I liked the "tap" option in the metronome very much. However, you may wanna consider adding lower Sol (G lower than middle C) and similarly the 2nd higher Re (2nd D higher than middle C) in the notation editor for the next update. Also, if you add a half flat accidental, I can assure you millions of downloads from the middle-east. Thank you.
Works perfectly Very intuitive and smooth interface. Runs well. Too bad you can't work with a grand staff... Also, needs support for chords.
Would be better if you could have more than 1 instrument playing, and chords.
Why is the lowest note an A flat on the treble stave? Guitarists need to go down to low D and contraltos need at least G. While you're at it, why not go down to E?
Awesome application, it would be more efficient if it could delete measures...;) everything else is awesome!!! Love it!
I love this app for writting on the go but the notes dont go high or low enough. Please fix :(
Just what I need as a singer. Great for quickly and easily learning a tricky passage. Doesn't fill the screen on the Galaxy Note though, any chance of a fix for this and it'll be perfect :-)
Just about perfect. Copy and paste would be great for repetitive sections. Adding an undo feature would also be very helpful. Other than that it is the easiest most effective notation tool on mobile devices around.
Good app but should be able to have multiple notes at the same time and the ability to make difernt tracks in the same song and play up to all of them
but i need an issue resolved asap where do the files save to? ive checked every folder on the tablet and they seem to be nowhere
I love this! So easy to use. I would love to see the ability to export and to choose a starting point for playback, not just the beginning of the song.
Can't play two notes at one time, can't go more than two ledger lines above or below the staff.
Very useful. Needs a way to bring multiple bars backward when deleting a single note. Also is there a way to use the grand staff for one composition?
It's super simple to use. Perfect for when you're away from a computer and want to jot down the melody of your latest composition. Or for noise making

Very easy to enter a single voice/track. Some quirks--you must select key and time sig. before entering notes; change those and it dumps your work. I'd like more features added: polyphony, transposing, add lyrics, multiple time signatures, read/save some standard formats . . . . But it does do simple things well.
