Republic for Android
Sometimes it works and sometimes it says I have no SIM card. Or I have to activate my phone, but then says it's already activated, but to send my text I have to activate via Wi-Fi, but I don't have Wi-Fi right now... So I guess I don't have a useful phone right now also. Galaxy S7 edge
This is the worst phone provider I've ever used or seen anyone use. My texts never send and my calls barely work. I try contacting the republic people and they take forever to respond. Once they respond, they tell you stuff that doesn't work. I've basically been without a phone for 2 years. Don't buy this provider.
I've taken my phone to England and can call people in the USA like I'm still there. It's pretty cool because it still only costs $22 (with taxes). I've had republic since the beta, through the period when calls didn't connect, and the service has been very good as of late.
Republic Wireless has been ok on an older phone, however I did have several times in the past problems with sending pictures on that phone. Usually cleared up when I used Wi-Fi. However I have a new phone, and continue to have issues getting a picture sent even while on Wi-Fi. My biggest problem is sending texts that either do not get to someone at all or not until the next day. I have also not been able to get cell service in places I could on old phone. The app is up-to-date. I have also noticed LTE is on when I have been on Wi-Fi.
I not sure how good it is but so far so good. But when I call people phone turns off and it won't turn back on for a while and it won't let me hang help. P.S. this was before update haven't tried it yet.
Once a happy beta member, but now all the 'updates' make this a very unreliable service. Most mms/sms go missing in the ether. Family and friends wonder why I don't answer, receiving instead a message about WiFi calling restrictions. Very disappointed. Technicians provided runaround help for a situation I had on my Plan 1 phone, ultimately prompting me to buy a new phone and [force] upgrade my plan, which totally wasted my money. Egg on my face. Competition is cheaper and more reliable.
Have been with republic for about 4 years. Witnessed a lot of changes and switched 3 phones. Switched my family and converted quite a few friends to RW as well. No regrets. Although it wasn't always a smooth ride. I can say that the reliability and user friendliness improved dramatically since 4 years ago. Used to have problems with phone calls (couldn't initiate until phone restart) and MMS (couldn't do over WiFi). With this latest phone (actually one before as well so about a year and a half) all problems seem to have been solved. I wish the refund plans stayed but current ones are good too (I pay $20 for 1gb). Unless I move to an area with poor coverage I'm planning to stay. Solid 5 from me.
Since the app update, it won't display how much data I've used in this billing period. Please fix this problem.
Our family loves Republic. This app is perfectly easy to use and has some handy settings too. Thank you Republic for making the best and cheapest wireless network that is perfect for me and my family. Oh, and the Moto G5 plus I got for Christmas is a perfect pick, thanks for adding the phone to your list ✋
Usually, everything is great. Then I'll have spells where I place a call, the person answers, I can hear them but they can't hear me. Unless they call back, there's no way to connect.
It either just loads slowly, or doesn't at all. I wait for several minutes at a time yet it doesn't display how much data I've used at all, it only continues to show the loading icon. Not sure if it's just my phone or the app itself.
Republic wireless is a great price but you get what you paid for. I have had times where people don't receive my texts even though I've sent them and vice versa.
Was working great until I had to reactivate it. Still configuring my cellular network after an entire day
Keep me logged in. Annoying to have to log in every time
How to I get my free 6 months service from the deal on b&h , when I open the app I'm asked to select a data plan and pay for it, how to I get my free service
Its prettt good and useful but it spazzes out if u dont use it for a while like if u were traveling for a fee weeks so had it on airplane.mode the whole time.
Im trying to uninstall it and reinstall it but it keeps telling me to update it and I've had to update it about 8 times.
It doesn't say when you are using Wi-Fi
But it's taking all day just to DL and install!!!
Great app cool features!

I'm supposed to get 6 months free but instead to app asks for credit card info before I can even see my options.
App is mandatory for RW3.0 service. It works well to help keep track of data usage per app which helps you cut back where possible. Also it is used to change service plan easily - so long as you know your password. RW3.0 hybrid calling is literally indistinguishable as it routs calls via WiFi Cell and Cell-Data which makes calls possible wherever WiFi is able to replace the cellular network. Particularly useful in basements and other locations where Cell signals are week.
I have always been very happy with republic wireless until recently. I got a new phone the moto z. And now I only receive some text messages. Halfway through a conversation they will just stop coming through. Very annoying.
If you're mostly linked to Wi-Fi at work and home, Republic is the best MVNO available. I was spending > $80/month with VZW for just 2 GBs of data, and barely using 300 MBs of it because I'm connected to WiFi nearly all day and night. I'm on the 1 GB plan now and with taxes my bill is only $23/month. You just can't beat that. And when I'm off wifi, everything works swimmingly just like a flagship carrier. Only downside is choice in phones, but for me, that's no big deal, as the compatible devices are still very competitive. I recommend RW to everyone - specifically I enjoy watching people react to saying I only pay $23/month. Your cost savings will vary, but for me, the low monthly bill paid for a brand new Motor X Pure in only six months. One of the best decisions you can make to save money.
We have 6 family phones on RW - all Moto - a G3, two G4 Plus, two G5 Plus and an X Pure. I've used RW since beta days. The service has improved much since then. We use a mix of back end carriers via RW (Sprint and T-Mo) depending upon coverage needs so have no network coverage issues that we wouldn't on those carriers. We certainly enjoy the cost savings and coverage inside the hockey rinks via WiFi!
I am really happy with Republic. They are generous and user friendly. I have to be careful with my data usage but it was easy to figure out and I can always turn off my data. Great service. Thanks so much for the help post-hurricane with my bill. My only wish is... Oh, um.. nothing!!! Thanks so much!!
Especially for light data users Republic is the best value of any phone provider and unlike some competitors actually has customer service.
I am very happy with the service and have not had any problems. Great price!!
Slowest internet in existence. I pay for this service and I find as the month is closing the internet speed is slower.
The perfect cell phone plan!
I just recently updated my Motorola G4 Play and I can't hear people when I call or they call me. Do not update your phone until they fix this problem. This is extremely frustrating. I have never had a problem with republic wireless until this. They are a good provider just need to fix this bug as soon as possible.
I have seen the negative reviews. Honestly, feel free to pay ATT or Sprint or Metro (at least use them, k?) and leave behind $20 republic. Go ahead. And while you are spending your $40/$75/$100 those of us back at Republic will still be spending $20. I've been with Republic 6+ years. And plans have changed. But phones have improved, service has been great, and I am laughing at all those paying $50+/month. Never once have I regretted my move to Republic.
We left Ting bec even when I'm home, it often never switched to Wi-Fi, which it should do automatically. Our bills were just too high. With Republic at least the price is better but it still bills cellular when I should be on Wi-Fi.
I've been with RW for a few years now. I work from home and wouldn't use the service if the call quality was anything less than stellar. Customers have to ask if I'm on a landline or cellphone sometimes, the wifi call quality is that good. The cheap service is a bonus. Can't really see using anything else. I recommend it all the time to friends and family.
I've been a loyal Republic customer for years now, including the beta years (forgetting the phone name). I had glitches here and there, but you can't beat the price and you own your device.
I used to love this provider but ever since I switched plans, my service range had dropped dramatically. I'll be in moderately sized cities and get no service-- service I used to have. Something also happened to my phone, causing a slew of issues. After TWO+ weeks of not having service that I was paying for, with painfully slow communication with IT (seriously, I would receive a response every two to three days), I was promised shipment of a new phone which is now a day late. Some quicker answers and reassurances that the issue was being resolved as fast as possibly would have been nice. I felt no sense of a hurried pace to get me connected again...
Poor design allows data over cell while WiFi is on and working, but momentarily interrupted. Calls and texts often disappear into the ether. Can not recommend.
Only complaint is that I have had to replace the phones I've bought from republic far too often. They break. Longest life so far was 1 year. I think I'm on my fifth since becoming a customer. They were all various Motorola generations

I have a Samsung J320A. This is on the list of supported phones and is up to date. Installed and activated republic just fine. After first restart, continually received a not activated message. No help button, no bypass button, just a big middle finger to me. Zero things for me to do here.
