Script Rehearser Free for Android
Great app! I have to change some words to phonetic spelling because the app doesn't recognize context or homographs (i.e. "live" is only pronounced like "jive" as in "see them live tonight at the Roxy" but not like "I want to live a full life.") It would also be very helpful if it incorporated Shakespearean punctuation structure, where each punctuation mark has a different length.
Ive been recording partners lines and rehearsing with myself for 7 years. This app makes it so much easier! Now i dont have to record a thing and i get the same effect plus i can follow along in the script when i choose to. Great app.
Figured it out and easy to use with my Note 5. Only thing I noticed as a new user is that my Samsung earbuds don't control this app so turning on and off is a bit of a pain since I have to go directly through my phone. Other apps do work fine with the buds.
Hands down BEST free rehearsal tool on any platform. If I would have found this earlier it would have saved my current show!
Just the most amazing app for actors!!! I got a part in a movie because of being able to run my lines when no one else was around
I use this all the time. Would love to see future improvements, but this is the best line learning app so far for Android. Thank goodness for this app. It is getting better all the time.
Update: the more I use this the more familiar I'm becoming with the features and the more I like it. And it's free! Highly recommend it.
This is the most useful, customizable, convenient, app that I've found for this job. Including paid apps and this is absolutely free. I cannot recommend this enough.
They could add a feature where you type your lines and the app checks it. That would be awesome.
First time on stage and never needed to learn line's before. Great if you what to go through your lines on your own.
Takes more time to set up than memorizing. Won't take PDF imports. Doesn't recognize character names on TXT files. Why type an entire script to import into an app, when I can just record it. Keep trying, maybe one day.
It was so complicated
I found this useful, but buggy. App would clone lines around a line that I have to edit and paste the edited line and the several adjacent lines before or after it into other places. After some major deleting and careful reading, I got a useful copy down. Other than the heavy prep, I have found this app works well. For a future update, I would love the possible playback speed from text to speech to be much faster and I would like a flagging function to indicate trouble lines. I'd like to be able to flag lines I skip or paraphrase.
The secret to this app is in the script prep. It "reads," everything so being sure there are no stage directions, page numbers, or dashes is important. It read three dashes as being the sign for "Euro" when the script was imported so it kept saying, "Euro," in the middle of a line. It prefers . . . for pauses. If sharing between devices be sure to exchange using the format specifically generated by this app. Then you will be good to go. At times the rate of speed slows down or speeds up depending on who is talking which can be comical at times. It is helping me learn my lines, is free, and responds well to what I need. Thanks to all who created this.
It does take a fair amount of prep to make use of an imported script. I import from celtx usually which products standard formatted screenplays but it doesn't read them very well. After the formatting and recording my own voice for the other character's dialog (I don't like the robotic reader), it's pretty handy to practice running lines. Would like to be able to share recordings with friends who also have the app.
Way to glitchy, can't do anything without it saying it stopped working. Wouldn't recommend. I would be trying to get the app to read my script and it would be like frozen and then it would say the app has stopped working and it did that like 8 times.
I had been searching for an app that could help me learn lines for my first play before I found this one. It took a bit to fix things that didn't import perfectly but it could have been the file that I used. Did I mention you could import files? Saved so much time! This app has helped me so much, I am super glad I found it. Hint - You may need to adjust the Text-to-Speech settings on your phone. The original voice that was default on my phone was strange but I changed it to another and it made a ton of difference.
Absolutely love it only wish I had found this for our last show
This app has help me learn my lines by myself so much quicker. This is a must have for all actors and it is free!! Say no more!
I love this app! Most of the free time I get to work on lines is in my car & this is perfect for reviewing over and over!
Very useful and clever features. Thank you!
Thus is my first time using an app like this and I found it to be very easy to use. I'm in a play and have a lot of lines to memorize and it has already been very helpful.
I couldn't get it to work!! So confusing!!
Great!
I don't live in town and wanted to run through sides repeatedly to play around with them and learn them better. Like many actors, I was just recording myself...but this was unsatisfactory on many levels. The first time I used it to memorize my part of a long dialogue, and it was AMAZING. I still need to learn how to upload - but I can't say enough how much this has helped me. I've already been recommending this to others, and plan on getting into the forum more to learn and make recommendations. Thank you!
While I'm sure I'll find things to dislike. Such as, the voices are a little wonky. But this was free, super quick and easy to edit the dialog with and works perfect. I tend to get off book and then rehearse lines while running, doing dishes... Anything to keep me physically distracted. This is perfect.
I was a little cynical before download but now, I'm a believer. I have used a similar but much clunkier method for years that works but quite a pain on longer scripts because I would record the other voice manually. This app works and is fairly seamless which will save me so much time. I've only trialled it for a day and I'm impressed. Even if I find glitches now, I can see this will be a very useful app. Well done Devs
Prompt & reliable when it comes to developers responding!! My favorite free program. I have a suggestion for a potential future addition: after your script is fully recorded it would be incredible to be able to export the whole thing as an mp3 to listen on the go. Thanks again. :)
Good app that's easy to install and use. You can import your scene or monologue, then edit accordingly if need be. However, the male read back voice changed to female voices. Not sure how to change it back.
A really helpful App Now I can learn and revise my scripts on headphones while I'm doing other stuff. It's easier to learn that way and the stuff gets done too The latest interface also stops me from recording other people's lines by mistake MASSIVE THANKS!
Great to run lines when you don't have a partner and when you have many mundane tasks to complete. I used the Text Fairy app to take the pics of my script and convert them into text. I'm recommending it to fellow actors.
The best script rehearser out there. Very comprehensive. Very intuitive with setting it up the way you like. Easy editing and the ability to put notes on extra lines as needed.
For the limited time I have been using this product it has been really good. A little playing around and I have figured out most of the features. I love being able to record the other parts in the app.
I'm having a really hard time getting started with this. I don't really understand how to type in lines manually, so now I'm trying to import a .txt file, and it gets stuck on the "Loading" screen.
It really helped me learn my lines, and it's very helpful for when you want to run through and there is no one around. However it took me a while to understand and figure out how to remove recordings or type in the lines from the script. I think the tutorial on what to do an how to use it needs to be more affective. Other than that it's a very good app and will be beneficial for you too download.
Since finding this app, I've used it for every show I've done and this is the most helpful thing, outside of rehearsals, that I've found to help me learn lines! Another great aspect of the app is that I can record and listen to myself (not just listen to the app read my lines) and I'm able to adjust my delivery because when I've heard myself saying a line a certain way and can play with it.
I wish it would give you step-by-step instructions to new users! Quite confusing learning to navigate!! I'm not tech savvy!! Give it a try at least!! Apparently, it's a good app.
I like the idea of this app but it doesn't work on my phone. Very buggy. The import function had issues taking my .txt files.
Not only is this a great app for learning lines but it is effing hilarious to listen to with the right script. Made my day.

A great tool, I've been using it for few years, since 2012-2013 or so. I miss the option in the old version to speed everyone up like chipmonks though. The fastest speed is not even close to fast enough, in fact it drags a bit. It was easier for me to learn lines listening to the script at super speed. Please bring that option back.
