About PFremote - Power Functions

PFremote is the first and only app ever designed for controlling the Lego Power Functions motors using the built-in Infrared Port. You can use it to test all your projects or you can just show off to your friends with this cool new app.

It works with all Samsung and HTC devices. LG and Sony do not work for now, work in progress.

Key features:
- NEW: control your Power Functions using Mindstorms NXT + IRLink from HiTechnic or NXT+ PFMate from Mindsensors
- control up to 8 motors using all available channels on the Lego Technic IR Receivers.
- step speed control ( 1 to 7 )
- control the motors polarity
- label all your buttons and motors to make it easier to remember what they do
- the control distance is very good, similar to the real Lego Technic remote ( but it does depend on the device )
- create as many remotes as you need with different configurations and save them for later

Doesn't work with HTC M7 dual sim

Galaxy note 4 running lollipop, fails to operate Lego power functions. Correct channel and motor selection confirmed. Phone will control tv, and power function remote controls train. Compatibility issue with this app it appears.

D70%
by D####:

Tried on a Samsung s5 and s6, cannot control my train with either one. Disappointed. IR blaster works fine in other apps so it's not the hardware its this application.

by D####:

Little slower than original remote controller, don't automatically load last used profile.

B70%
by B####:

It does not work on Note 4 and S6 Edge. I tried it with Power Functions receiver and motor from Lego 60052 freight train set. On Note 4 I could see that IR port is emitting something, therefore I give one star, but on S6 it is totally dark. Neither works with PF receiver. I would be willing to do testing if developer wants me to try installing pre-release versions and test them.

Phone do send somthing from ir-port, but nothing happens. Have tested all channels on two trains and a LEGOTechnic Wheel Loader but no respons from any of them. Also all buttons dissappear when changing to any tab and I have to restart to get the buttons back. When "exiting", the app uses around 50 % cpu in the background the phone gets hot.

IR blaster is working but the signal it sends is not being read by the IR receiver. I'm guessing it's not sending the right code. I'm using a brand new receiver from The Lego Group. Oh, I'm using a galaxy S 5 android 5.0

Not working on the Excavator and Front end loader, tried with S4 and S6. And haven't had any replys to emails etc. .

Works perfectly on xiaomi redmi note 3 pro. Just set up my first tab for my 41999 crawler, works great

Did not work. galaxy s5 running cyanogenmod.

Reasonable price. Simple UI. The only drawback is only 2 motor can be controlled at instance. You have to switch multiple tab back & forth to control more than 2 motors.

Doesn't work with HTC M7 dual sim

I would prefer to have more free positionable control buttons in view, instead of the 4 tabs. E.g. for tanks with motors left right.

Cannot get app working on my galaxy s5 with android 4.4 and now 5.0

The previous version did not work on my Tab 3 8 on KitKat 4.4 at all. I'm happy to report 1.3 is working & tested on sets 8043, 8275 & 9398. I will update once tested on 42030 but expect it will since the Lego IR receivers are all basically the same. Only issue left is I only have 6 motor controls instead of 8. After emailing the developer regarding the previous version I never did get a response but fortunately the update came.

The app is not working on my device, the detail is as followings: Phone: HTC One (M7) Dual SIM version 802d. Android: 4.4.3. Lego: Mindstorms EV3. I am not sure whether it is due to the fact that my HTC One is a dual SIM version, not the usual single SIM one, however other infrared apps is working properly on it. I can record the infrared command from the EV3 remote with another infrared app and use it to control the LEGO set. Since that other app is intended for things like TV control, the layout is not optimal for LEGO, this is why I purchased this app, unfortunately to find out that it does not work at all! To the developer: if there is anything I can help to make it work, please let me know. I really wish to see it work, not asking a refund from Play Store. Thanks!

I tried this app on my Samsung Galaxy S4 and it installed fine but didn't work. I confirmed my phone's IR port works fine on my tv and cable box, and the Lego PF regular remote works as well so there's something with this app's compatibility. I tried emailing the contact listed multiple times but they haven't responded. I like the concept of this app and it looks like it's laid out well. I just wish it would have worked.

N70%
by N####:

Using my home theater IR repeater as a guide the app is using my Tab 3 8.0 to send a signal, however it is a series of distinct pulses compared to a Lego remote's flashing. I've tried contacting the developer with the email addresses provided by Google, weeks later still no response. I will update this review if things change.

Can not seem to get it working on my S5. Other IR apps work fine for my tv tho.

S70%

Works on HTC One. Needs another tab where you can have easy motor control for e.g. vehicles; speed sliders that start at 0 (not 1) would help. One horizontal and one vertical.

Works fine on galaxy s5
