What is Gone for Good?

Gone for Good is the app that takes the hard work out of getting rid of things you no longer need. You don’t have to worry about hiring a van, or moving things from A to B, just use Gone for Good and we’ll make it happen for you.

If your preferred charity doesn't pick up the specific types of items you're donating, there are other options available to you, including dropping off at your local charity shop, donating to a different charity or recycling - details are available within the app.

Gone For Good also helps charities to raise vital funds and stops your unwanted items ending up in landfill.

What are users saying about Gone For Good

by D####:

Had bags of washed clothes and no one would take them. App isn't very user friendly either

D70%
by D####:

What I would like to do is schedule a collection of my items. Do you really require me to take a picture of the bags that everything is in?

D70%
by D####:

That makes my life easier when I have a need to give away my stuffs.

D70%
by D####:

I was advised by the BHF website to download this app to arrange for them to collect my 72 books. I downloaded the app and spent ages uploading my images to find that BHF wasn't on the options, the only option was cancer research and they declined 3 days later.

D70%
by D####:

Had books to donate and clothes and no one was interested to collect! So I gave up on this app and don't recommend it! Your better off just going to the place itself to donate your stuff

D70%
by D####:

I think this app needs to be gone for good. It's completely useless. My books got rejected by all charities through this app and I was advised to pay LA waste collection services to get rid of books instead. However when I called up the charity directly they arranged to collect my books and clothes.

D70%
by D####:

Used it twice. First time no problem and it worked well. Second time I got an email back rejecting my stuff. When I phoned the British Heart Foundation to ask why, they said it was because they hadn't responded in 24 hours! They told me they pick up three times a week in my area so I'll just phone. Quicker and easier!!

Doesn't work

D70%
by D####:

Great app, but is there a way to organise or cancel a donation? Thanks!

D70%
by D####:

Kept crashing when trying to find a charity.

D70%
by D####:

Good idea, but constant crashing forced me to uninstall before I'd got past the first stage.. Shame.

D70%
by D####:

Didn't realise that you can't donate without submitting pictures, I've already bagged everything up there's roughly 35 bags of kids clothes and toys all pre sorted.

V70%
by V####:

Great concept but it crashes each time it is searching for a charity I can select so I haven't been able to fully use it. Also very clowes uploading images when taken from camera. (device used Samsung s7)

P70%
by P####:

Got completely ignored. Put a lot of effort in uploading and this is how I'm repaid.

F70%
by F####:

Not sure whether this was malfunctioning or I missed something. Tried to take a photo, was unresponsive. Finally took one, clicked 'use' and then nothing happened. Tried several times and gave up. Uninstalled. Will just contact charities direct because this didn't make it any easier.

K70%
by K####:

Have to keep entering post code then when you submit your details with photos it crashes every time Has never found any charity Samsung Note 4 Dissapointed this could be so useful. I hate to throw things away that can be reused

D70%
by D####:

Should allow you to edit your donations. Mine missed one of the photos, so it's too late to add it now. Should also allow you to keep track of collection times/details via the app, etc. Basically everything should happen and be tracked within the app which would make it way more functional and user friendly.

P70%
by P####:

Rubbish app. You fill in all the details about your donations and everytime you just get your donation "rejected" by the charity!! Completely pointless if the charity won't take it.

O70%
by O####:

I am not sure the app is the issue but not very helpful from any charities using it. Best off just taking things to your local shops yourself!

G70%
by G####:

Complete waste of time. Charities will not collect via this app, they'll accept and never collect or reject outright. It's an immense shame, but now my donations will go to landfill instead.

F70%
by F####:

The app itself is fine, however despite the charity 'accepting' the donation and being told that they would contact me to collect it I never heard anything from them. If the charities themselves aren't willing to get involved with the app it renders it pointless. Such a pity. Maybe being able to contact the charity / arrange the collection etc through the app itself (rather than via email) might make the charity more likely to actually engage!

D70%
by D####:

Its a nice app and idea. However no responses from charities despite offering items of very significant value. Given multiple similar reviews indicates something not right. Not recommended.

I70%
by I####:

I've bagged up freshly washed and ironed clothing, along with handbags and other times that have never been worn/used. I uploaded a photo of five+ bin bags bursting full of stuff and not one of the charities wanted the donations. The app then sends me an email suggesting I can take the donations to the local landfill instead. Right. So, don't donate clean and good quality stock to charity, take it to the dump instead? ???? I've seen the donated stock first hand in local charity shops and can't understand why any of them would refuse my donations.

D70%
by D####:

Had 10 bags of good quality books, games and clothes. I had a very poor response from the charities through this app, BHF said no and none of the other choices responded. I drove to my local BHF and showed them the goods, now thinking what I had wasn't something they wanted, however the local store were very thankful and took everything. In order for this app to work well, it needs a better response time and better integration with the charities it lists. It's a great concept but unfortunately for me it didn't yield any results.

S70%
by S####:

There is no button to press to take a photo of the items at the first step.

D70%
by D####:

Absolutely useless. Not sure why the developers bothered with this.

U70%
by U####:

The app was very easy to install and to use. I offered a wooden dining set to our local Air Ambulance. I took photos, put them in the gallery on my tablet and filled in the details - easy. I received an acceptance email and then waited. It's good that I was given a contact phone number for the charity in the acceptance email because I never heard from anyone. I ended up contacting the charity and arranging collection. There was nothing that indicated that the charity knew anything about the Gone for Good information. While I love the idea of this app and hope it gets going with better continuity, I am not sure that I couldn't have accomplished the end result by just contacting the charity myself. It would have been good if the charity had said something like "Oh yes, we've got it on our list." As it was I mentioned the Gone for Good app several times and there was silence on the other end of the phone.

I had quite a lot of heavy books to donate and can't carry them all, so thought I would try this. Within hours the British Heart Foundation were in touch with me to arrange a collection, which was collected at the time promised. So I got rid of loads at once, feeling happy about that as I love decluttering !! Couldn't recommend more. Great app which does what it says on the tin.

Z70%
by Z####:

Had over £1000 worth of books to donate. Apparently no one was interested or bothered to reply. Phoned BHF and they collected within a couple of days. No way of editing donations or getting responses through the app which would make it much better. Could do with having a 'my donations section' etc. Uninstalled and will just call charities directly from now on.

Y70%
by Y####:

Wants me to take a photo? Why? I've got two bin bags full of clothes, I'm not taking photos of it all. Just calling bhf, they come and collect without wanting photographic evidence of donations.

Y70%
by Y####:

I offered 16+ bin bags full of clean, good quality women's clothing. My first choice was Cancer Research - unfortunately, it appears they don't check their emails, so they failed to reply to GFG's request and after waiting 5 days for them to decide we hauled the bags in ourselves. So, this app is great - the next charity answered straight away although we'd given up by then - and I would use it again without hesitation but sadly it didn't work out this time.

Put £2,000 worth of mostly new books, Lego, DVDs and clothes on site and no takers in London. Nice idea for an app but pointless if charities show no interest.

What a rubbish app , doesn't let you get past photo ,I'm not doing a photo as it's clothes ,

Good but can't list any description of item, as need to point out a cheap part is missing. No introduction to what app does at start up (I did swipe the homescreen later, but that was after using app), wasn't told there were any available charities in area, only told after listing item, wasting time trying to list item.

F70%
by F####:

Not an easy app to get on with why don't it put you in touch with the charity direct
