NOTE: This App is only for ROOTED phones. If you don't know what rooted means, you probably don't have a rooted phone.
Android Permission Blocker is the cheapest, easiest way to take back control of all of those permissions apps require. Why does a flashlight app need access to your contacts? Why does a news app require permissions to read your SMS text messages? With Android Permission Blocker, you no longer need to worry about these questions. Instead, simply download the apps you want, and block the permissions you don't want the app to have. It's that simple. After a reboot, the app will no longer have access to those permissions.
How does Android Permission Blocker work, you ask? Simply stated, this app uses root permissions (which is why you need a rooted phone) to modify the android subsystem to no longer provide specific permissions to apps as requested by you. NOTE however that SOME APPS WILL CRASH if they do not have the permissions they need. This has nothing to do with how Android Permission Blocker blocks permissions, but rather how apps behave when a permission it requests is not granted. Since app developers expect that all permissions they request will be granted, they do not verify they got the permission before using it. Therefore, when you block a permission, some apps will crash when they attempt to access it. When that happens, you can either re-enable that specific permission, or, if you would prefer the app not have that permission at all, uninstall the app.
Note Android Permission Blocker currently only blocks permissions for "non-system" apps. Non-system apps are all the apps that you install, not the apps that come pre-installed on your phone in the "system" directory. Also note that the app can not yet prevent other apps from running at start-up. We are working on a solution to this and will release a new version once we have one.

I paid for this and it worked for the first few weeks and then stopped. Uninstalled it and exchanged it for App Ops which works great, has a nicer interface and is, by the way, free.

Against the reviews, I decided to try this app. Not only did it not modify any app, it reinstalled my launcher so that I lost all of my setup. It also uninstalled all Google apps, which is odd because I didn't make any changes on a Google app or my launcher. I keep getting notifications stating that Google Services has crashed. To the developer: this app is shameful and you ought to remove it. Clearly there are bugs. Leaving it up because you are too lazy or too greedy is pathetic. Get a new hobby.

I purchased on one tablet and on the other it says buy again, I try it takes my dollar and says payment declined

It works and I can live with the reboot requirement but to be able to backup and restore blocking options is sadly missing and will put custom ROM/rooted users that change ROMs off I believe

Don't pay for this app, it locks you out for "not purchasing" whenever it can't connect to Internet. Unless you'll only ever want to manipulate app permissions when you're online, you're literally paying for nothing.

I have figured it out! My 'modified' app was 'missing' only because I had frozen the app for nonuse but didnt want to uninstall. Therefore, this Permission Blocker App is GREAT! It does exaxtly as it is advertised! Whether the app will fumction after restricting certain permissions is due to the design of the app being restricted. To the Developer: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 09052014

I like the way this app is set up. It's easy to use and well organized. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I would like some sort of notification or a log of when permissions are actually blocked. As without that I'm not certain it's even working. And does it function in background? Or does it have to remain active to work? Hope that question makes sense. Add a log of permissions blocked and I will happily change to 5 star.

Desperately needs a way to sort apps alphabetically, and not all my apps are showing up. In fact, the one app I specifically sought this out for does not show up in the list of installed apps.
