CPU CruiseControl is a utility that provides a way to change the CPU speed and scaling characteristics on ROOTED Android phones. Upon first running the application, you MUST give the application root permissions (through the Superuser App). Once granted superuser permissions, CPU CruiseControl will automatically detect supported speeds your CPU can run at, as well as available scaling governors. You then will be able to select whichever CPU governor and min/max CPU speeds best suite your needs. Looking for faster performance? Select the Performance governor. If prolonged battery life is what interests you, select the conservative governor. And for those of you with custom ROMs, select any of the other governors included in your ROM.
What differs CPU CruiseControl from other CPU tailoring apps is the ability to create and save graphs displaying what clocks speeds your CPU typically runs at. You can use this information to select the CPU governor that best meets your needs.
In addition, we don't believe in the use of "Profiles" that are supported on other CPU controlling apps. A CPU governor is intended to "govern" the speed of the CPU depending on CPU load. So why would you want to run an additional process on your phone that takes up CPU time and memory only to do what CPU governors already do? CPU CruiseControl only runs for a few seconds at phone start-up, and then is unloaded from memory once the Android system cleans it up. No need to run all day, every day, like other CPU controlling apps!
Note that this application will only work on Rooted android devices. If you are unsure if your device is rooted, install CPU CruiseControl and verify it is able to change your CPU speeds and governors. And please don't rate this app poorly because it does not run properly on unrooted phones. Android prevents this app from running on unrooted phones. There is nothing we can do to make this work on an unrooted phone - believe us - we've tried!
If you would like CPU CruiseControl to automatically set your preferred CPU setting each time your phone is booted, check out the Pro version (CPU CruiseControl Pro) on the market (you can link to it from this app by selecting the "Select at boot" checkbox on the main screen). That paid version of this app will run once each time your phone boots and set up your CPU using your saved settings.

Running tweaked/ customized barebones (no OEM bloatware, removed it all!) otherwise OEM Froyo 2.2.1 Firmware & Bali-X 2.6.32.9 1.2-1.2 Ghz kernel w/ Voodoo lagfix/ Voodoo audio/ Voodoo video on 1Ghz Hummingbird CPU set to 1.2 Ghz max & *400 Mhz min (*to avoid known SGS 'sleep-of-death' below 400 Mhz issue). ...no FCs ... PS: spoke good of this too soon, sorry, sticks in odd loops @ times! App also does NOT load settings @ reboot as is claimed above, needs paid-for version for that. SSDD, so uninstalled!!!

This app works better than any other cpu control app on my samsung replenish. It won't allow me to go past 748 mhz though without the phone freezing... but I think the problem I the phone not the app.

Works great now that I realized the problem from earlier. Raising the max past 748800 results in a reboot or phone freezing for the Replenish. Tried it out with ondemand and 748mhz which let Sonic CD play flawlessly.
